I played warrior within and two thrones first.I played sands of time later. In comparison to these two games Sands of time was SO SHIT SO SO SHIT.I could barely pick myself up to complete it.
Most of the playerbase at the time that this game was released were retrofags that complained about everything in this game, starting from the fighting controls, going through the scenery and ending with the soundtrack. They all complained at Ubisoft's forums about these "issues" and some months before the sequel's release (not Two Thrones), Ubisoft decided to change everything, burying Kindred Blades and giving us a less enjoyable sequel (now Two Thrones). A lot of people like this mofo still complain about WW when it was actually a great game.
I never knew about this... THEY HAD TO SCRATCH THAT MASTERPIECE and make the shit they called Two thrones? HOLY SHIT!!! They should make it now honestly, since AC is dying. And with current gen tech, boy oh boy it will be amazing!!!
People just don't understand the nightmare the Prince lived, after the Sands of Time he got chased for 7 years by the Dahaka, constantly living in fear to die, so in my opinion all the dark side of Warrior Within is completely justify
also he never went to far in being rude and evil, according to canon he gave the chance for princess to come live with him and even led his troops in to war to protect his kingdom in some pop game,so meaning he was fit to be a king even after what happened in sands of time.Like look how he commanded his people in the persian ship in ww and vowed vengeance for them or said some thing about them showing he was grown up and gave a sense of realism.I just dont get what the fucking haters even wanted from a guy who was grown up and was trying to NOT DIE
He must've been terrified man. People just don't understand the great story being told. And the women in the game I can justify that. Their female warriors and they need more mobility for combat and I don't think that they care about they way they dress. I mean come on the Prince wears friggin light leather armor against people with superstrength.
With the bath puzzle in sands of time you had to listen out for which doorway had the sound of trickling water coming from it, it wasn't random and it didn't need to be trail and error
Exactly, sometimes you dont notice this little detail the first time because you dont expect the game to be this complex, all prince of persia games have some things that you must replay to know..
Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within was the best game UBISOFT ever made. It's a 13 years old game, released on frikin 2004 and has realistic CGI graphical cutscenes, dark/scary environment/ruins, kick ass/touching soundtracks, awesome combat, twisted storyline, the satisfaction of gameplay... fuck current gen and next gen games! These type of games sticks to your heart no matter what. These deserve to be remastered/restarted!
Now let's not say their best game ever made, that will just bring more haters. It's definitely the best PoP ever made. Remember though Ubisoft also made Splinter Cell franchise and those were hands down some of their best games ever made.
The Prince of Persia series is a story of a boy becoming a man and a man becoming a king. The first game has you play the prince trying to manipulate all forces available to fix a problem that he started while the second is him working to correct the consequences. It's not until the third that he finally realizes that people are going to make mistakes and it's better to accept those mistakes and live with them than trying to correct them only to cause more problems. The prince in the first game is selfish, arrogant, and self indulged, while in the second game he's become bitter and twisted, but far stronger in his skills. In the third game he finally puts his own self interests aside and realizes that his actions have an affect on everyone and that he needs to consider them before his own wants and needs. I'm actually glad that they completed the story arch in the third game because it's a perfect ending to a fully told story unlike a certain sequel series that has a dozen sequels in it and all of them tell the exact same treasure hunting story.
Interesting. Maybe you can use ubermensch too. Sot- camal - he unlocked the sands and had to take the load of his deeds WW - THE LION- where he decided enough is enough ill kill anything or everything that will come in my way. T2T - Child - where the playful side of him emerges.
I am the architect of my own destruction... Loved that line. Funny how people hated it, must be cause they didn't understand the premise of the game. I loved the shit out of this game.
same here . favorite quote . i can't believe how relatable and believable as human being the Prince was . before getting the sand wraith mask . i actually felt sad that the Prince where doomed to fail regardless but felt happy when he finally got chance to redeem himself . the voice actor did good job indeed .
people hated this game because it's too gloomy. Prince is supposed to be a moral idol, not some extreme warrior. Although, this game is an important part in the trilogy
They didn't hate it. This is the best game of the series and most people agree. Just because some leftwing extremists complain that it has beautiful women, a badass hero and fitting music, that doesn't mean that it sucks.
Critics and people who want to be holier than thou disliked it because it wasn't "flavorful". The facts are the combat system, environments, level design, graphics, and atmosphere are all better than SoT. Also, it makes perfect sense the prince is an asshole; a demon has been stalking him for literal years when his only crime was being a hero. Yes, there were some cheesy villians dialogues, but everything else was perfect.
In Warrior Within's manual, it is said the Prince rarely sleeps or eat due to being chased by Dahaka for SEVEN YEARS, that is why he was so twisted and desperated, also Kaileena, she was afraid to die, both of them showed their worst side to each other, but is in the ship in the end that they can finally have some rest and show who they really are and fall for each other
That door puzzle. In Sands of time. Made you listen. When you were walking around some door and you heard " water " then you had to go through that door. I loved whole trilogy man...
@ Lmao not overdone? This game is the definition of what a 12 years old emo kid who found out about evanescence considers to be mature, it's the most juvenile game in the entire franchise.
Prince of Persia Warrior Within is one of my favorite games of all time. The combat system especially is nothing short of impressive, considering it came in 2004.
9:00 There's no puzzle. If you stand near a door you can hear the splashing water of Farrah playing, that's how you find the right door. Right door = water splashing, wrong door = nothing. Just stand near a door and listen, and you can get past that scene in less than a minute, easy.
People just hate it becuase it's a big change from sands of time the prince's personality is different, atmosphere is different, but I love it I think it's better than sot
I love Warrior Within, it's always been my favourite PoP game, that being said I also love Sands of Time. They're both so diferent, yet so similar. It's not a copy cat of the first game, it kept all of the stuff that PoP NEEDS to have, and changed everything else. Perfect sequel, great game.
too bad prince of persia seems to have been forgotten in favour of cranking out loads of assassin's creed games. and yeah, i like warrior within as well. It was very different from SoT but I never considered that to be bad. Both games were very enjoyable imo
FYI,Ubisoft is planning to end Assassin's Creed franchise as well, they tried to end it after Syndicate but decided to make a few more games, hence,Origins,Odyssey.
For the doors sequence in Sands of Time it was actually pretty easy once you figure out that you must listen to the sounds of water rippling through one of the doors.
I played this back when I was only fucking FIVE years old. My dad was playing it, so I got curious. And it was love at first sight. Today, I lost count on how much times I've played it.
9:40 the bathhouse puzzle in sands of time isnt trial and error puzzle. If u stand close to the correct door u will hear a water pouring sound. Thats the hint for every correct doors of that puzzle
Warrior Within was THE game that truly HOOKED me into gaming. It was the first game I played more than twice, and the first game where I went for every ending and every collectable (Life Upgrade). I had played Sands of Time before, and while I loved it and thought it was great, I ended up being way more impressed with everything WW did and I remember WW much more vividly as well. I didn't know so many people hated this game. I understand and agree that some of the first game's charm and style was replaced with something that isn't quite everybody's taste. But in just about every respect, WW was a logical evolution for the series. The Dahaka, which was a great antagonist for the purpose of chase sequences, went marvellously with "I Stand Alone" and its design basically begged for the entire game to take on a darker tone, as well. With a darker tone, also came more obscene and intricate ways to dispatch of enemies, and of the Prince. And the ingenious thing that WW did that neither SoT or tTT did, is how the story itself was a time travelling puzzle: you had to crack for yourself where you had to be in which timeline, and which timelines you must go through to get there. That was the ultimate merger of story and gameplay and something WW should be commended for immensely. The combat was more fluid, the level design more diverse and equally fun to traverse, the puzzles equally satisfying. The Prince of Persia: Warrior Within was a fucking great game through and through. The one thing I remember finding pretty dumb, and this is a technical note rather than a design decision, is that Kaileena is voiced by one actress throughout all her cutscenes, then magically gets Monica Bellucci's voice ONLY during her boss fight. What's up with that lol? Two notes: You say there are two gameplay segments to the PoP franchise: combat and puzzles. I would heavily argue that platforming is a whole other type of player engagement than puzzling, so I'd split it up into those three parts. Second note: I totally get what you mean when it comes to "samey' sequels. That said, both I and my best mate agree that Bioshock 2 was the best of the three. The combat was much more fluid (now that you could use both plasmids and guns at the same time), the environment was equally as breathtaking as it was in number one, and the story was, to me and my friend, more engaging. I felt I had more of a personal stake in the actions I undertook, and had a better understanding of the playing field. Bioshock 2 is basically Bioshock 1, not changed all too much, but perfected. Everyone hates it because it's "the same", but had it been the first Bioshock game to come out, I'm not sure many people would call Bioshock 1 an improvement over its predecessor if it came out afterwards. Bioshock 1 was groundbreaking for its meta narrative. But Bioshock 2 did many of the game's other aspects better.
POP WW is the best and the grittiest sequel any could ever ask for, the tone, atmosphere, setting and overall plot of the game just kicks ass The refined combat system is awesome along with the well planned puzzles and good level design And who could forget the soundtrack, omfg the soundtrack, just pumps you up every time you fight
I completely agree with you. But the sands of time puzzle you mentioned, it's not just trial and error. You had to listen to the sound of water drops to choose the appropriate door as far as i can remember. I think it was a really clever puzzle.
Honestly before watching this video I wasn't even aware that this game was hated! This was the game that introduced me to the POP series and Ubisoft in general! I only played SOT, BECAUSE of WW. Yes the ridiculous metal thong was unnecessary, but EVERYTHING ELSE was amazing!
Regarding the sands of time door puzzle, not many people know this but there is a hint. When you get to the correct door you'll hear water. Keep going through the doors where you hear water :)
I remember playing the demo of this game back in my old pc in 2004. There was this cd with Doom 3 and Prince of Persia Demos. Doom 3 didnt work and I installed POP WW demo and boy i was hooked right away. That beginning scene at the ship.. the dark tone, the visuals and the setting where u are attacked by creatures in a rainy storm on a ship. Man thats when I realised that this game was something else and is about to take me for an adventure. Warrior Within IS the best game in the trilogy.
I played Sands of Time exactly once. I played Warrior Within about 19 times, finishing one playthrough just yesterday after some years of not having a way to play my PS2 copy, getting it on a Steam Sale. So I can't really say Warrior Within is definitively better than Sands Of Time, because I have not gotten enough time in and way too long ago but I can say that Warrior WIthin struck a chord with me. On an Electric Guitar, that has been used to smash some demons face in, kind of. 2004 was a great year for Gaming. Very Edgy too. We had a lot, lot of sequels coming out. Halo2, Half Life 2, Sims 2, NFS Underground 2, Tony Hawks Underground 2, GTA San Andreas. A lot of these games atmospheres where straight up grim and bleak overall, as you'd expect for a middle action part. It's where the heroes are in their worst situations in Movie Trilogies, think of Empire Strikes Back. So in a way Warrior Within perfectly represents the Zeitgeist of that time. Now beyond that, and why that game resonated so well with me was the idea to overcome insurmountable odds stacked against you all on your own. It really inspired me to get through tough times after the death of my first girlfriend at the age of 16 and I really mean it. 2 Years prior to Warrior I played Metroid Fusion, incidentally you are also Chased by a Creature several times stronger than you, with no option left but to run, which you beat in the end, funnily enough the game wasn't received all that well either initially but quickly gained a cult following, similar to POP WW. These 2 games stand among the top of my favourite games of all time and are the only games I've played through enough times to crack double digits. Gameplay wise, it is to WW's testament that it's combat still has to be topped when it comes to action platformers. Some games like Batman and probably recently Spiderman, came close (I haven't actually played all of these so take it with a grain of salt) but left you with the feeling of "that looked cool" compared to Warrior's "F YEAH I just did THAT". It has an insane amount of player skill expression for a single player title which I found basically unmatched so far, because it has the stylistic points but also the execution just right. The soundtrack hit me right up, as I am a firm believer of Video Games and Metal (or Orchestra, which is rooted in Classical Music and by a far extension so is Metal) are just made for one another, game had a bit of both going on at times. Some spoilers ahead I guess. The Story has about 4 important Characters in it, The Prince, Kaileena, Shahdee, The Dahaka. If you count double ups, I guess The Prince is in there twice and The Old Man is basically a Macguffin, thus not worthy of mention as he has no relation to the actual plot itself, just get's it going. For a Story with so little characters, you'd think the game would fall flat in that department but there is interactions going on between most of these characters that drive the plot forward in a way that also allows these characters to grow or at least gives meaningful context between their actions. The Dahaka is pretty much the Anchor to this journey and his existence gives reason to the plot happening so there is no wonder that he forces several characters to grow, the prince himself goes from helpless, to driven, to devious, to hopeless, to desperate, to finally determined over the course of this story and it's so within context of what's happening that simply putting it off as "edgy" is a disservice to story telling in general. Everything has a sense and purpose, there is no character that overstays their welcome, no unnecessary fat so to speak. Shahdee pretty much get's the short end of the stick here, but there is at least an interesting twist that gives purpose to her dishonorable actions, which makes for quite the decent interesting villain that sadly could've been fleshed out a bit more. And the Dahaka, is the Dahaka. Uncaring entity that simply wants to do it's job, no development here but he is definitely an anchor to the story and cannot be left out, lest nothing makes sense. As for Kaileena, her motivation and reasons almost mirror the ones of the prince, to a lesser degree as she is a side character but it plays very well into the plot, given the 2 endings, the fate of the prince and that of Kaileena are closely bound together. I think I've said enough, not like anyone is going to read this to begin with, just wanted to let that out and I guess to train my foreign language writing.
So happy to have found someone who loves the game like I do. To be fair, I first got this game for the PC as a gift when I was 14 years old, so that might explain why I loved this edgier version of the Prince. Also, huge martial arts/parkour/acrobatics fan so this game hit all the right spots. I feel like the games improved every time and that the last entry in the series combined the best of both game. Also, despite the whole controversy of sexualised female characters, they still proved to be formidable bosses in the game. I personally enjoyed the game's ending. I find that the ending was more of a "love scene" than a "sex scene" and it was done in an aesthetically beautiful way. Whatever you consider to be the weakest entry of the game is still really fun to play and experience, in my opinion. And that speaks volumes on how good the Sands of Time trilogy is. I never expected that people didn't like PoP: WW. I always had the impression that people loved it.
LeoSol13 those times PC game requirements wasn't that high me and my 2 friends used to play warrior within and compare each other progress and help each other out that was great time... hope ubisoft make new pop instead of damn assassin's Creed bad PC ports games
I loved Sands of Time but only completed about 75% of Warrior Within, main issue was the environment and atmosphere, It just isn't fun to explore that Island castle, like you said there was no beauty like in Sands of Time
Bruh are u stupid? SOT took place in a palace while WW took place on a dead island, despite that in past the island actually looks way better than SOT just take the garden tower in past (even in present)
I completely agree with the first 75% of the video. Warrior Within is a really good game (bit buggy on PC), with it’s own style. It is edgy, but not so much you can’t ignore it. Fighting system is amazing, level design crazy and full of imagination. This game has a different actor voicing Prince, giving him deeper, harder, rougher voice. Generally, pretty good game, giving a different look on the world and characters. And then comes the argument of what it means to be a good sequel. Dude, WTF are You talking about? Good sequel is NOT defined by how different it is. Good sequel takes the formula of the previous one and expandes on it, while providing smaller or bigger changes to refresh the formula. Assassin’s Creed is, actually, a great example of this, because of Assassin’s Creed II, which was a better game than the first one in every possible manner. And it’s considered by many to be the best entry in the franchise. Same with Gothic 2, Half-Life 2, Arkham City, System Shock 2 and many more. These games are not better because they are different. They are better because they expand and refresh the formula while keeping the spirit of the original. I mean, if I wanted a different game I would play... well... something else...
About the bath house puzzle in SOT, there was some sound queue that if you had figured it out, you would have been able to pass it without any hassle :)
Let me be clear, the rest of the POP games failed miserably because they tried to go too much away from WW. The combat system, the music, the stakes, everything was perfect! It had the intensity you expect if a time travelling invincible beast chases you, it just didn't sit well for the SJW "I am offended" crowd
To be honest, I've been a fan of the series ever since I played the original PoP as a child. Sands of Time turned me into a die-hard fan. Warrior Within just blew my mind. This was the most brilliant game I've played to date. There's so much fun to be had playing and re-playing this title. It's hard to believe that anybody could dislike it, as just a game. If I could improve anything, I would make the sandwraith portion more quick-pace and badass, like the dark prince.
The Two Thrones was the first game I played, and my favorite. But I LOVED the combat of Warrior Within. I liked the darker tone (after a while) and the two possible endings. This gave the game a new level of difficulty.
The Bathouse puzzle is easy in sands of time. All you need to do is listen for the drops of water when you walk by a certain curtain. Beat that game so many times that i memorised the damn thing without even having to listen for the drops.
In Sands of Time, the bathroom puzzle has an audio hint. When you are in front of the correct door, Farah would hit the water several times, and you would only hear it if you are in front of the right door. It takes a bit of trial and error to realize that happens. Great video, specially giving the bit about the traps into the health upgrades, making you earn them. The end of the story has 2 endings. You have to get the water sword to get the canon ending, that leads directly to TTT. In the TTT the whole time traveling comes to a logical conclusion that it's pretty ethical. The prince realizes that rewinding time is not the way to solve your problems, instead, you need to face the consequences of your actions and mistakes, and in the process matures thanks to this realization.
Can you please make a rant about The Two Thrones? Would love to hear you talk about that as well, as I have mixed opinions of the game. Also you just earned yourself another subscriber with this brilliant video!
Mohammad Ekram Faruque Fahim Many tales from ‘Arabian Nights’ are from Persia, and that’s why the artstyle and setting that is used in Prince of Persia is referred to as Arabian Nights.
Huh, first time hearing that Warrior Within is hated, it's a great game. That being said, I'd like to touch on some of the points in this video. I disagree that WW has the best story. Overall I like the pitch and the story better, but the presentation is lacking. The Prince in SoT constantly shared his point of view on events, while also being an omniscient narrator. In WW, he's just a silent brooding asshole (which is justified by the story, that's true). You say Farah was a boring escort quest, and then show a clip fighting next to her, which you should never do, always bring the fight away from the ranger. Also, her back and forth with the Prince helped flesh out both characters. In WW, the Prince is off doing his own thing and Kaileena just waits in the throne room doing nothing. The rare exchanges they have don't do much to flesh them out, only to indicate you where to go next. I actually love the linearity of SoT, you're always going forward to new places. WW backtracking is too repetitive, even with the past/present perspectives. That being said, WW's combat is indubitably the best by far. The music I feel is awesome in both games, and represents the games atmospheres well. I didn't mind the blood & gore, but the over sexualized design was only pleasing when I was 14. Nowadays it just appears cringy and nonsensical (Sahdee in a metal bikini on a ship during a storm, the Empress of Time dressed like a whore...okay game). I don't mind sexy designs, but certainly they can be visually appealing and sexy at the same time? Last point, the puzzle in SoT. I'm certain people have mentioned that the solution is to listen to the sound of water which indicates the correct door. But since audio mixing quality varies between versions, your mileage may vary. To me, the perfect design of Sands of Time Trilogy game would be: -A strong atmosphere, 1001 nights works but WW grim and edgy works as well because it is justified with the story -Music that stays faithful to that atmosphere -A flawed, albeit likeable Prince -a "princess" that he has some conflict/different values with and that accompanies him throughout the journey, because that's also her journey (Farah in SoT was great, in T2T it felt like she wasn't really there) -Traversal of the environment through acrobatics, with the difficulty being offset by the the rewind mechanic -Combat that is free flowing and allows you to tackle situation in various ways, with several types of enemies (Red/Blue in SoT is meh) -A trickle of upgrades throughout the game (weapons, powers, sand canisters, etc) -An emphasis on story telling that alleviates ludo-narrative dissonance (why is the environment so awkward for any normal human being, why is there time travel shenanigans, why do the characters do what they do?) -Not following [current year] trends (in T2T, that would be QTE, sneaking and sand credits) -Instead, risk taking like the tonal shift in WW Thank you for coming to my TedTalk, tl;dr comment goes below v
@Kiros good ted talk. SOT is the best in my opinion. WW2 was just another mass appeal ripoff with lots of "cool" combos, edgy and jarring music that do not fit the atmosphere(too bad becuase the environments were beautifully done in WW too....and the music alone by itself is very good, Stuart Chatwood ofc), and the brooding emo prince. The story was complicated for complications' sake, and there is no dynamic between the prince and Kaileena. They need not have made it dreamy and surreal like SOT. WW could have been dark and gloomy, and could still have been as great if not better than SOT. It just feels like a game that was put together, rather than a game that was made.
@@adhithya4136 "It just feels like a game that was put together, rather than a game that was made." An interesting take. It's a shame that SoT remains the best of the trilogy, there was a lot of potential in the Sands series. The incoming remake looks cheap as well, although I do hope I'm wrong.
I keep my ps2 just so i can play the trilogy over and over. And in the sands of time in the bath house, you just have to walk slowly and listen for farrah splashing.
They really didn't get the vibe of this game when they "remastered" it for the HD trilogy did they? I mean look at the prince smiling like an idiot at 8:33 . The Warrior within Prince I remember was strong minded, headstrong and very focused. Too much so to even smile, especially after he had just been chased by an interdeminsional time demon who was trying to murder him. They even removed the dark rings under his eyes and stubble on his face for some reason, which makes no sense considering he couldn't sleep for fear of the Dahaka killing him.
The Sands of Time puzzle was NOT trial and error. It was all about paying attention to the sound of the water droplets. You would walk around the circle and as you heard the droplets you knew the next door would have been the right one.
Yeah...so after finally playing this after hearing all the buzz on how great it is, I reckon this is another one of those games that is only the best thing ever through pure unfiltered nostalgia. Not a bad game, but it really does not live up to cult hype and I dare say Two Thrones and Sands of Time were so much more enjoyable and had way better pacing as opposed to the mediocre drawn out frustrate fest that was Warrior Within.
Warrior Within is surely an amazing game. Beautiful dark spaces, atmosphere and story, adrenalin runs and mind-boggling puzzles, it's easily one of the best games of its era, and one of my favorites for sure! One of the highlights is the design and the architecture - the sheer size of some rooms and caves, the moving objects and bottomless pits, they're dreamlike and perfect.
prince of Persia warrior within and two thrones had amazing combat which was way ahead of its time,i just downloaded the sand trilogy on pc last year and only then being older i can perform combos and dodge movements to absolutely destroy every one in the game.I know none of you liked the dark theme of warrior within but i enjoyed being able to slice of body parts and listen to the enemies and prince talk to each other while i fight, also the man was a captain of an entire ship before it got destroyed and had been running from dahaka for a long while now,he was grown up and more serious, and according to canon saved the princess who tried to kill her.So yeah i get why he was more dark now, there is a reason for it but after being released from the curse he came back to being more clam minded i guess, but fuck haters for ranting so hard that ubisoft removed body chopping from two thrones.Im still pissed about the censor
Not that I disagree but Two Thrones was released the same year as Devil May Cry 3, Kingdom Hearts 2, Yakuza, and Ninja Gaiden Black. Not exactly ahead of its time...
yup, that's what i noticed. In Sands of Time, it's India where the story takes place and shows the ancient architecture and arts of India. This guy didn't play Sands of time, I can tell.... he doesn't know how to clear the bath puzzle stage either..
It had a slight feeling of Arabian Nights, but, then again, anything medieval muslim does. Otherwise, most of the game (The beginning takes place (somewhere) in India proper) takes place in Azad, some fictional region in between India and Persia (Iran).
The biggest enemy of Warrior Within is Sands of Time! And I %100 agree with you that if the second game was a Sands of Time clone, those same people who hate Warrior Within, were among the first to criticise the game! I just don't understand people who love blood and gore in games like god of war and see it as a disadvantage in POP Warrior Within. Honestly, Warrior Within was ahead of its time and rarely I have seen a game with such interesting plot. After all these years, It's time for a good remake of Warrior Within
What about Prince of Persia, but the 2008 one? People hated it because it wasn't a part of the trilogy, but I personally think that this game is one of the best ever made. It's at the top with SoT and WW definitely. I completed these three games nomerous times and I know I'll come back to them some day. TTT and TFS were the bad PoP games.
2008 PoP had great story, puzzles and platforming but combat was the worst. And it lacked on atmosphere and felt off overall. I played all four sequencially and SoT had the best balance of them all. I also loved WW think it had the best combat.
MusicmanPL BULLSHIT!! POP08 had so much potential! It had GORGEOUS cel shading visuals and decent music and an open world!!!! the only problem? The fuckin' gameplay!! all you fuckin' do in this game go with that eilka bitch and plant trees!! The open world is dogshit desert with no booby traps nothing just fuckin' walking walking!!! and the combat was GOD awful 1 vs 1 button mashfest. Pop fans NEVER wanted a new sot sequel cus T2T ended the story beautifully.. do not fuckin' blame us fans for hating this shit game for being shit!!
It was ok. I'd compare it to Turok '08, in that it has nothing to do with the previous titles and that hurts it. It's pretty and kinda fun, but the characters and combat are fucking boring.
I think that 2008 PoP came too soon, like you said it wasn't part of the trilogy and people weren't still over the Sands of Time trilogy, so it probably highly disappointed them...but if it came out now, it would've worked way better I'm sure
A change can be either accepted by people/a person or rejected. Much like changes in anybodies life. That's the same that happened here. I like warrior within more than sands of time. You are right even with the bioshock example you nailed it.
It would have been a better version called kinderd blades only if the haters didn't force the entire ubisoft to censor the entire game like chopping body parts and lessen overall new content from the game like more stealth animations and fighting a crowd of enemies more often as the haters didn't approve the new combat system. But tt still had new stuff for me to play it over and over, definitely happy I still got it
watching this gameplay reminded me of all those sleepless nights I had spent playing this game on my ps2 in my school days.. What a game it was...Indeed on of the Best..
The sands of time takes place in India in proper rajasthan where the maharaja of india was located when the game started in the temple where the dagger of time was kept when u enter the room u can see the writing was in sanskrit one of the oldest language and u can also see there were pictures of lord ganesh on those walls as well
Sands of Time > Two Thrones > Warrior Within I love all 3 games and they are easily among the best Western 3D action platformers, shame we will never get anything else like them
I agree the best in the series and one of the best games ever. The only thing I can recommend would be Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance as that is the most similar game I've ever played to PoP WW. It has great fluid combat, great music and bosses with the extreme violence and gore which we all love. It honestly feels like a modern day real life version of this game. The main character Raiden is cold and brutal like the prince as well. If you love Warrior Within you have to try it, it will bring back memories and remind you of playing this years ago and of top of that being a great game itself.
+ATTACKHELICOPTER arugment you say eh? lol two thrones was very repetitive. all you did was go around the city closing the portals over and over again. If it wasn't for the addition of the dark prince which i loved two thrones woulda been a bore fest. The story was a rip off of sands of time and was not original in any way whats so ever. Warrior within on the other hand had amazing boss fights an interesting story that could get complicated but made it worth replaying over and over again till u understood it better. the dahaka chases were probs some of my favourite moments and the soundtrack oh my god the soundtrack gave me eargasms. don't get me wrong i love all three games and its my favourite series of all time but warrior within is by far there master piece.
honestly i dont think it wouldve fit WW. TTT sure but not WW. plus for what it is, it's still a good game and rather fun. The Dahaka chase felt more tense with the music in WW
This is one of my personal 10 ten games of all time. I absolutely love this game. Even w the over sexualization of the female characters. This combat, concept, puzzles and move set was ahead of its time! Supremely underrated game imo.
This is literally my favorite game. I've played it 5 times. My first play through is a treasured memory of mine, my dad bought me this game when I was 13, my first M game, and we played through it together. I don't understand the hate, the darker tones and the violence make sense from a lore standpoint and it is by far the most aesthetically and thematically pleasing of the series, amazing soundtrack, fluid controls, I could go on and on.
So that Sands of Time bathhouse puzzle isn’t trial and error. Each time you walk in front of the correct door, you’ll hear Farrah splashing around in the water
i've finished this game like more than 30 times.. i'm not even kidding or exaggerating.. it reached to a point where i'd start playing it and finish it within a couple of hours.. this is how much i loved this game.. and probably the only game i found every single easter egg or secrets hidden all by myself without the help of the internet... and oh how much i loved its music..
The bath house puzzle in Sands is a sound puzzle, you have to go through the curtains with the water sound. It was something to feel dream like and evoke 1001 nights (not less silly, but it had good intentions)
Wait seriously...really...how could people say its a bad game. just how..
Royal Emperor because Majority rules beats common sense in most fandoms
@Vasilis Green wait what? Did you never know about PoP: Kindred Blades?
They just didn't want to dive into an actual storytelling.
The experience he had, having to lose Farah, having his fate doomed... Makes sense his change of personality
He must've been terrified man. People just don't understand the great story being told. And the women in the game I can justify that. Their female warriors and they need more mobility for combat and I don't think that they care about they way they dress. I mean come on the Prince wears friggin light leather armor against people with superstrength.
you're only chased in the game for a few times and you're already terrified, imagine doing that for 7 years. How does he even sleep?
With the bath puzzle in sands of time you had to listen out for which doorway had the sound of trickling water coming from it, it wasn't random and it didn't need to be trail and error
Yeah, you have to follow the sound of Farah splashing!
It's only trial and error if you fail to solve the puzzle
Yeah I wouldn't worry I doubt anyone got it right the first time!
exactly!
Shuvo. what about The last of us?
+GABE DA DAWG GOD i like both
Preach!
Now let's not say their best game ever made, that will just bring more haters. It's definitely the best PoP ever made. Remember though Ubisoft also made Splinter Cell franchise and those were hands down some of their best games ever made.
I considered it as ART not just game
I read 5 lines and I knew this comment was better than critics
@@yaisnwow critics are just paid asses who write 10/10 reviews on horrible games
Interesting.
Maybe you can use ubermensch too.
Sot- camal - he unlocked the sands and had to take the load of his deeds
WW - THE LION- where he decided enough is enough ill kill anything or everything that will come in my way.
T2T - Child - where the playful side of him emerges.
@@possessorofgreatness7620 damn nice analogy.
We need the original third game we need kindred blades.
I am the architect of my own destruction... Loved that line. Funny how people hated it, must be cause they didn't understand the premise of the game. I loved the shit out of this game.
What a line, indeed.
same here . favorite quote . i can't believe how relatable and believable as human being the Prince was . before getting the sand wraith mask . i actually felt sad that the Prince where doomed to fail regardless but felt happy when he finally got chance to redeem himself . the voice actor did good job indeed .
people hated this game because it's too gloomy.
The people who love GTA 4 and Mafia 2 would also Love this game I'm sure. This game is Dark. And I love it.
Umm, i thought everybody knew that this game was the best in the series. Were there actually people hating on this game back then? That's crazy.
It was polarizing. Either you loved it or hated it.
Thank you, it's the fucking best in the franchise. There's always haters though, no matter how good the game is. Always expect haters.
I would never say that it's the best. Gameplay was fun but it's the least PoP game of them all.
They hated it because it was shit
Branco Bumbala bet the guy in the video dunno
Warrior Within was the best PoP game ever. Period.

Yes, exactly. Apparently he was not aware of it when he made the video
Wait what?
There are people who didn't like WARRIOR WITHIN?
nSack sot fangays
I myself think WW is ok, but I like SoT better.
People just hate it becuase it's a big change from sands of time the prince's personality is different, atmosphere is different, but I love it I think it's better than sot
Everything that exists in the world has people who dislike and like it and it's natural
Man, Warrior Within is underrated. The combat is crazy, the atmosphere is memorable and the soundtrack bangs. Best POP game I've played so far.
Warrior Within was the first game I played when I got the PS2, and it was my FAVORITE !
*is
I love Warrior Within, it's always been my favourite PoP game, that being said I also love Sands of Time.
Both games were very enjoyable imo
honestly i agree, assassins creed has no charm at all. it's just a shittie sequel after shittie sequel.
Cloveroot You should be grateful, would you like pop series to be milked like AC?
And to think Ubisoft originally rejected AC and told devs to keep making POP lol.
Anyway I loved AC1 Through 3, but everything afterwards was meh...
FYI,Ubisoft is planning to end Assassin's Creed franchise as well, they tried to end it after Syndicate but decided to make a few more games, hence,Origins,Odyssey.

For the doors sequence in Sands of Time it was actually pretty easy once you figure out that you must listen to the sounds of water rippling through one of the doors.
yeah i figured that out pretty quickly, but i can see how people got stuck there
Wtf. I did it by listening to Phara's voice. I didn' know about this.

Warrior within was the best game of the Trilogy. It was more dark and also the story was awesome
Two notes:
You say there are two gameplay segments to the PoP franchise: combat and puzzles.
Quentin Clemens nice pts
A knowledgeable man. Respects, dude.
POP WW is the best and the grittiest sequel any could ever ask for, the tone, atmosphere, setting and overall plot of the game just kicks ass
The refined combat system is awesome along with the well planned puzzles and good level design
And who could forget the soundtrack, omfg the soundtrack, just pumps you up every time you fight
Pretty much everything you described has nothing to do with middle eastern culture.
I completely agree with you. But the sands of time puzzle you mentioned, it's not just trial and error. You had to listen to the sound of water drops to choose the appropriate door as far as i can remember. I think it was a really clever puzzle.
I fucking love the Prince trilogy on the ps2. How anyone can hate the sequels is insane to me.

@@pegres5339 lol you have no idea kid
@@frankfasil2198 ok 😢
I mean, if I wanted a different game I would play... well... something else...
wtf the bath puzzle in sands of time was easy
u just keep passing by entraces till u hear sound of water and then u enter that entrance
About the bath house puzzle in SOT, there was some sound queue that if you had figured it out, you would have been able to pass it without any hassle :)
I used to be terrified when the dahaka followed me in this game
And that bass guitar theme in title menu... That was hell of a game!
Welcome Within. Badass song indeed!
Let me be clear, the rest of the POP games failed miserably because they tried to go too much away from WW. The combat system, the music, the stakes, everything was perfect! It had the intensity you expect if a time travelling invincible beast chases you, it just didn't sit well for the SJW "I am offended" crowd
Debopam Seal exactly
as much as i like the music WW did kinda sounded tryhard tho
i loved warrior within, i know a lot of people didn't like godsmack doing the soundtrack, but honestly it really got my blood pumping for combat.
My fav prince of persia game with a kickass soundtrack.
Warrior within began my journey of gaming
PoP : WW was the best title in the whole series. Still love playing it sometimes.
The Bathouse puzzle is easy in sands of time. All you need to do is listen for the drops of water when you walk by a certain curtain. Beat that game so many times that i memorised the damn thing without even having to listen for the drops.
this game is absolutely awsm best storyline in ubisoft history
Warrior within has got THE BEST SOUNDTRACK! PERIOD
Persia isn't Arabia
Mohammad Ekram Faruque Fahim
Many tales from ‘Arabian Nights’ are from Persia, and that’s why the artstyle and setting that is used in Prince of Persia is referred to as Arabian Nights.
Did you know there is an alternate ending to warrior within? You get to fight the Dahaka as the final boss if you unlocked water sword.
To me, the perfect design of Sands of Time Trilogy game would be:
-A strong atmosphere, 1001 nights works but WW grim and edgy works as well because it is justified with the story
-Music that stays faithful to that atmosphere
-A flawed, albeit likeable Prince
-a "princess" that he has some conflict/different values with and that accompanies him throughout the journey, because that's also her journey (Farah in SoT was great, in T2T it felt like she wasn't really there)
-Traversal of the environment through acrobatics, with the difficulty being offset by the the rewind mechanic
-Combat that is free flowing and allows you to tackle situation in various ways, with several types of enemies (Red/Blue in SoT is meh)
-A trickle of upgrades throughout the game (weapons, powers, sand canisters, etc)
-An emphasis on story telling that alleviates ludo-narrative dissonance (why is the environment so awkward for any normal human being, why is there time travel shenanigans, why do the characters do what they do?)
-Not following [current year] trends (in T2T, that would be QTE, sneaking and sand credits)
-Instead, risk taking like the tonal shift in WW
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk, tl;dr comment goes below v
@@kiros2032 The incoming remake is most probably going to be mediocre at best. It was made by Ubisoft India, not the main one.
Warrior Within is the Holy Grail Of Video Gaming. Anyone that says otherwise shall be cast aside as irrelevant
Warrior within was my favorite game for a loooong time. I would love a remake with awsome graphics :D
Blitz Krieg hd sucks
This game is frankly a masterpiece :) Maybe the finest game ever, probably the best product from Ubi of all time.
Awesome video pal, totally agree :)
Warrior Within for me is hands down THE best game I played in my childhood. Those Dahaka sequences still give me the heebeejeebees...
How i would rate PoP WW
Gameplay/combat: 10/10
puzzles: -100/10
Just let me get to the fun part god damn it!
9:20 You’ll hear dripping sounds when you go near the correct door.
WW is the best game in the series. And am I the only who the dahaka was one of the scarriest enemies in my childhood
The Dahaka is THE boss. It would give Nemesis (and Mr. X) a run for their money.
"mediocre drawn out frustrate fest that was Warrior Within."
I hope you weren't playing this on an ENIAC
Warrior Within is surely an amazing game. Beautiful dark spaces, atmosphere and story, adrenalin runs and mind-boggling puzzles, it's easily one of the best games of its era, and one of my favorites for sure! One of the highlights is the design and the architecture - the sheer size of some rooms and caves, the moving objects and bottomless pits, they're dreamlike and perfect.
warrior within is one of best game I ever played, in my opinion the best Prince of Persia ever made.
thank you so much for making this video! PoP are my favorite games and it's so wonderful to hear another person support them
prince of Persia warrior within and two thrones had amazing combat which was way ahead of its time,i just downloaded the sand trilogy on pc last year and only then being older i can perform combos and dodge movements to absolutely destroy every one in the game.I know none of you liked the dark theme of warrior within but i enjoyed being able to slice of body parts and listen to the enemies and prince talk to each other while i fight, also the man was a captain of an entire ship before it got destroyed and had been running from dahaka for a long while now,he was grown up and more serious, and according to canon saved the princess who tried to kill her.So yeah i get why he was more dark now, there is a reason for it but after being released from the curse he came back to being more clam minded i guess, but fuck haters for ranting so hard that ubisoft removed body chopping from two thrones.Im still pissed about the censor
Not that I disagree but Two Thrones was released the same year as Devil May Cry 3, Kingdom Hearts 2, Yakuza, and Ninja Gaiden Black. Not exactly ahead of its time...
This is my fav prince of persia. So much improvement over sands of time which was already amazing
high five warrior within rocks
All I remember is that all the old prince of persia were amazing
*Arabian* city? Srsly?!
yup, that's what i noticed.
In Sands of Time, it's India where the story takes place and shows the ancient architecture and arts of India.
This guy didn't play Sands of time, I can tell.... he doesn't know how to clear the bath puzzle stage either..
Not to mention Medieval... More like, the guy just has 0 historical knowledge
It had a slight feeling of Arabian Nights, but, then again, anything medieval muslim does. Otherwise, most of the game (The beginning takes place (somewhere) in India proper) takes place in Azad, some fictional region in between India and Persia (Iran).
Mousazz But ancient Persia&India existed prior to the creation of Islam... so how can it be "Arabian" or "Muslim"? I find it odd...
This isn't ancient Persia I think. Whole game had Arabic writings on swords, walls, doors etc. So it's not before Islam.
I loved that game too, but they shouldn't have named it Prince of Persia. because it really wasnt
I loved this game this give me lot of nostalgic moments
Warrior within was a good game
It was a darker version of sands of time .
My favourite Prince of Persia, I played it hundreds of time on my ps2 when I was like 9. Ah the menories
Wait PEOPLE HATED THE GAME?!!! WTF i played it and SOT and both were great but i agree that WW was the best one.
A change can be either accepted by people/a person or rejected. Much like changes in anybodies life. That's the same that happened here. I like warrior within more than sands of time. You are right even with the bioshock example you nailed it.
TtT I feel is better than WW, but WW is miles better than SoT.
ha...finally someone who's favorite is two thrones...as well
nice.finished it over 20 times, and loved it everytime.
Royal Emperor We are friends, now.
could i join?
It would have been a better version called kinderd blades only if the haters didn't force the entire ubisoft to censor the entire game like chopping body parts and lessen overall new content from the game like more stealth animations and fighting a crowd of enemies more often as the haters didn't approve the new combat system. But tt still had new stuff for me to play it over and over, definitely happy I still got it
M.Grey sot fangays destroyed our baby POP KB
watching this gameplay reminded me of all those sleepless nights I had spent playing this game on my ps2 in my school days.. What a game it was...Indeed on of the Best..
Sands of Time was great. Warrior Within exceeded the story in every possible way. The Two Thrones was a well polished turd.
Warrior within is my favourite
The story was amazing and the time travelling aspect was very cool.
And the dahaka was an amazing villian.
I don't get it.. POP WW was the best game when i played it. I can't believe there r ppl who don't like it.
This brings back a lot of fum memories. I REALLY LOVE WARRIOR WITHIN
arabian city? it's persia!!! and if you are referring to the domes they were invented by Persians long before Islam
The sands of time takes place in India in proper rajasthan where the maharaja of india was located when the game started in the temple where the dagger of time was kept when u enter the room u can see the writing was in sanskrit one of the oldest language and u can also see there were pictures of lord ganesh on those walls as well
Sands of Time > Two Thrones > Warrior Within
I love all 3 games and they are easily among the best Western 3D action platformers, shame we will never get anything else like them
Warrior Within > Two Thrones > Sands of Time.
Warrior Within best.
two thrones was the worst out of all the 3. warrior within was easily the best.
Khal Drogo23 It's his opinion let him be if you dont have an argument
+ATTACKHELICOPTER arugment you say eh? lol two thrones was very repetitive. all you did was go around the city closing the portals over and over again. If it wasn't for the addition of the dark prince which i loved two thrones woulda been a bore fest. The story was a rip off of sands of time and was not original in any way whats so ever. Warrior within on the other hand had amazing boss fights an interesting story that could get complicated but made it worth replaying over and over again till u understood it better. the dahaka chases were probs some of my favourite moments and the soundtrack oh my god the soundtrack gave me eargasms. don't get me wrong i love all three games and its my favourite series of all time but warrior within is by far there master piece.
this is the best PoP game and ive never heard anyone hate on it
my fav is sands of time then this
they really shouldn't have done this and stayed with the style of sot this is for the got and emo nerds
wakyl Hakymzaada. this is better than sands of shit
emo?
says a gay lmao
honestly i dont think it wouldve fit WW.
Same here. But you forgot to mention the music
@@soundtrack1405 I loved the music!
I too felt that it was trial and error but good to know it isn't.
i've finished this game like more than 30 times.. i'm not even kidding or exaggerating.. it reached to a point where i'd start playing it and finish it within a couple of hours.. this is how much i loved this game.. and probably the only game i found every single easter egg or secrets hidden all by myself without the help of the internet... and oh how much i loved its music..
Honestly that game is just such a good memory for me
The bath house puzzle in Sands is a sound puzzle, you have to go through the curtains with the water sound. It was something to feel dream like and evoke 1001 nights (not less silly, but it had good intentions)
