If you're replacing the radiator with a new one chances are it will need new hangers, so where's the tricky part trying to marry it up with the existing pipework. B&Q trying to make it so simple 😩
After shutting both valves release pressure in the rad via the bleed screw. Crack both tail nuts and lift the rad off the mounts then rotate the rad so the tails are at the highest point. Disconnect the tails and the water stays in the rad. Much cleaner way of getting it off the wall.

Don't need to tape the valve threads, if anything tape over the olive - as that is where the seal is formed
Dont you need to drain all the radiators...isolote the water first...refill...then check pressure etx?
Do you need to add inhibitor
What if your new rad in 10mm shorter and you need to extend the connectors out further?
