DM is so pissed because you weren't supposed to figure out that the child had faked his kidnapping so he could start controlling his evil legions in his first foray into gaining enough power and influence for his aspirations to eventual lichdom.
I'm actually playing a Bard in my current campaign and I straight up clipped the Vicious Mockery song to keep in my back pocket (just in case) the moment I heard it - and managed to stop laughing. Turns out, one of our villains was a an evil gnome "mad scientist/genius" type of guy who always floated around on a device of his own design so he could be taller than everyone - minions and enemies alike. My DM likes to tack on random meme traits to most of his characters like that. Anyway, in our final encounter with him, the dice gods smiled on upon me as if I were their chosen champion because I managed to crit my Vicious Mockery I'd been saving for him all fight. With the sheer glee of a child who's just received the Christmas present they've been asking for all year, I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone, brought up the clip while my DM was confirming my crit and played it from "Nat 20 LET'S GO!" (which was the start of the clip). Needless to say, any semblance of staying in character was immediately shattered as hard as the gnome's emotional state and it got so bad that we decided to break for lunch because the DM couldn't even manage to get out a line explaining the effect of my performance. Instead, he ended up settling on "he's fucked" before we all bailed to another room to sit down and wait for the pizza (that I ordered) only like 10 minutes before. As you would expect, after the food - which I was already very popular for ordering for everyone as a surprise - we got back to the table and resumed the session but for the rest of the day, my ego was untouchably inflated and for once, not a single person complained and I was treated like a genuine hero for the remainder of the afternoon/night. 1:45 im glad someone gave him a chance to do a hip hop... dance, gave him a chance to do a dance
HELL FOCKEN YEAH MATE!
That’s the bloody sequel tae the original animation we all wanted without us knowing! 😄
"The last 15 days" *Casually holds up 15 fingers*
This song honestly has no business being this good
Truly the animation we all deserve for such a banger
I remember when this was just an animatic! What a glow up, this was easily my favorite one that cropped up when the original dropped so it's awesome seeing it fully completed like this ❤
After about a bazillion times watching this, I finally noticed the creatures drawn on the DM's screen change their expressions to match the DM's. Dang that's a nice touch
Bard is totally the type of guy who would roll the d20 for a spell that doesnt need to roll to hit before the DM can respond.
Since when does vicious mockery not need to roll to hit? There's only one edition in which it instead forces a save.
@@eslingoonan2929Since the current version you just said existed?
@@mcmosfet2856 That's my point. There's one single version in which it uses a save, so you can't say 'doesn't need to roll to hit'. It's like finger of death, unlike every other edition in 5e it doesn't kill people - but definitively saying 'finger of death doesn't kill people' would be stupid, it mostly does with one exception.
@@eslingoonan2929 I feel like you have absolutly no idea what i actually posted. When the player casts Vicious Mockery, there is no need for the player to "roll a nat 20" afterwards. The bard rolls his dice for no reason. The target (aka, the DM) would roll in this case.
@@talkinggibberish I know precisely what you posted. You said that the spell doesn't roll to hit, so I pointed out that there's only one edition where that's true. When the spell was invented, it absolutely rolled to hit - so your blanket 'that's not how this works' was incorrect.
And I already explained all this, so I have no idea why you're saying that you feel I have no idea how this works. I clearly do, and have already shown you that. You, however, don't.
I am so unbelievably happy that Lanky's original animatic is getting this love, absolutely amazing!
The animation gives me such old youtube vibes and I absolutely love it
I love the fact that the Bard looks the same irl as he does in the game universe, implying he is dressed up like his character while everyone else is just in casual wear and I love that
The fact that Tom says "child" at the same moment the DM does...
Y'all? He *knew* it was the kid the *_entire time. . ._*
and he did not care *one whit* about that. Kid's body ain't the only thing lying~
YESSSS THIS WAS MY FAVORITE STYLE OF ALL THE ANIMATIONS, IT GOT A WONDERFUL GLOW-UP!!!! HELL YEAHHHHHHH
YEAHHHH This animatic was my fave cause it captured the original song so perfectly!! Glad you got to work with the og artist to get a fully animated music video!
Absolutely adore how intensely he lets the flute
This is the greatest bard in D&D history!
This is SO FANTASTIC, and it's amazing that this was finished just in time for Christmas!! (Also, I love the Trogdor in the background)
I remember loving LankyMF's original animatic of this song super cool to see this
I like how this implies he just keeps D20s in his mouth, just incase he needs to roll 😭
I just realized there's a Trogdor figure on top of the bookshelf behind the DM.
You're cool for picking up on that.
No matter how many times I hear this song it never gets old
The absolut blast the animator must have had!
I'm just beginning to slowly build a new homebrew world after not being happy with how my first attempt turned out.
I'm absolutely making a traveling bard NPC named Thomas Lanky, who looks similar to the bard here and sings this song everywhere he goes. He's going to be my comic relief. 😂
