    You got a subscribe cuz you answered every question, that’s pretty awesome and I never seen that before. Mine got the red triangle of death as some other dude said in a video, and the engine light game on. It is brand new with 101.6 hours on it. It got scared of your video and the AC is working now. For your added knowledge, some other video showed a fuse blown and fixed theirs. Anyhow, I’m a zombie from trying to figure it and headed to dream land. Keep up the good work.

      The apu in the video actually has 26,294 hours on it now and is only supposed to run only 10k hours before a rebuild.
      It starts up first try and runs like new.
      With proper maintenance they can surpass most expirations

      Check and see if the compressor is locked up.
      Do that by making sure the kill switch is in the stop position.
      Then using yout hand try to turn the center of the compressor clutch.
      Do not try to turn tge pully just the center of the pully.
      If you can't turn it then your a/c compressor is locked up and needs replaced.

    This is an old video and I hope you can help me out.... me inverter is reading 15.4v obviously it's overcharging the whole system. The apu unit runs fine everything works i replaced the alternator about a year ago and never really used the inverter because it would just keep beeping i figured it was a dead inverter so just recently I bought a new one....replaced it and noticed the high voltage reading so I disconnect the new one and hook up the old one and same thing so I know it's not the inverter or the alternator since it's fairly new and it seems to be working fine... another quick note if I turn on all the lights on the truck and trailer it will read a lower voltage and inverter works fine... any ideas....?

      Sorry I missed this!
      You need to pressurize it and add a dye test freon can to it and look for the leak.
      Normally it's in a line and a broken "o" ring seal.
      You probably already know this and I'm sorry for missing this question!
      I have been going through a lot and currently I'm not capable of making videos or working on these units or anything.
      I'm still working on being able to walk I had a dramatic back injury so I have been absent from making videos on apu's for some time.

    Hi. Do you know how to prime/crank the unit manually? We changed the fuel filter and now the unit try to start but fails. Thanks in advance

    • @hillbillyholler516
      @hillbillyholler516  5 лет назад +1

      Yup. Look at your fuel lines the main line goes into a canister with what looks like a oil filter.
      That's the fuel/ water sepperator.
      2 lines will come out of that and go to the right.
      The far right line is your main supply line.
      Loosen that and try to crank it.
      Keep resetting and cranking till you get a flow of fuel out of it then snug the line up and it should start.

    Do you have any advice on tension of the belt? I seen one video suggest that tension is good if you can turn the belt to 90 deg in the middle of the longest run (or where the belt runs the longest distance between two pulleys). I got an ac comp that doesnt seem to be disengaging the clutch. Im going to try pb blast the ac pulley/clutch connection to see if rust has locked them together. Any thoughts if that isnt the problem?

    • @hillbillyholler516
      @hillbillyholler516  7 лет назад +1

      Zero Fayt in my video i talk about the wire that goes to the ac clutch and a short it had in it.
      Now if you have a fault that is keeping constant power going to that wire it will keep the clutch engauged at all times.
      With the unit off try to spin the cente of the ac clutch.
      It should spin without turning the outter pully.
      If it dont then the clutch may be getting constant power or the clutch is sezed up.
      To see if its getting constant power clip the wire in a spot that will be easy to splice back.
      If it still wont spin its a bad clutch.
      As for belt tension you want about 3/4" of deflection when you apply about 20 pounds of force.in your belt once its tight.
      Try hitting the outside kill switch before clipping the power wire to the clutch.
      Either way its most likely going to need a shop unless its a bad clutch and you know how to replace one.

      I would check the fuze blocks on your batteries and the under bunk fuzes

    • @anthonykguru
      @anthonykguru 5 лет назад

      I checked those already and they are all good. I spoke with one of the TK dealers and he mentioned something about checking the 2 pin plug that plugs into the back of the alternator to make sure that both pins are energized with at least 12v while the apu is running. Have you heard of this before?

    • @hillbillyholler516
      @hillbillyholler516  5 лет назад

      @@anthonykguru yes I have.
      With an alternator that has an internal regulator if you don't have power going into the plug you mentioned it won't open up the regulator to start charging.
      The internal regulator reads the battery voltage and keeps the alternator from over charging the battery.
      Also another thing to look at is ground.
      An alternator will not charge if it's lost it's ground usually due to corrosion so you may also try adding another ground wire to the casing or mount.

    Looks like I have the same apu. My air conditioning not working how can I run the apu while truck is running

    • @hillbillyholler516
      @hillbillyholler516  5 лет назад

      Good question.
      Well all thermoking apu'e are designed to have a relay that runs through the ignition so when the truck ignition is on the apu will not run.
      To change this you will have to rewire the apu so no ignition signal from the ignition switch reaches the apu.
      Its actually not worth the cost/ and time because expense will over ride repair cost.
      Also if you are experiencing truck a/c issues your compressor may be going bad and It will take out your main serpentine belt and shut your engine down.
      Most times if your truck a/c Is acting up it means your a/c clutch is going out so when it does fail it will lock up and burn up your serpentine belt which runs your engine accesories.
      So your water pump and alternator will not run once it fully seizes.
      If you run reefer you can use jumper cables to charge your truck to limp to a shop but you will be lacking a cooling system so you will be limited on your milage range most likely a 50 mile range depending on the weight, temperature and what engine you have.
      But if your truck a/c is failing you should go to a shop because the compressor is part of your main serpentine belt pullies and if one fails all fail soon after

    • @hillbillyholler516
      @hillbillyholler516  5 лет назад

      If its low on freon then you have a leak.
      First I would lift the bunk and check the condenser coils and make sure they are clean and clear of obstructions.
      If they are clear then check your freon pressure.
      If it's too low your compressor clutch wont kick in.
      If the pressure is high the compressor is bad.
      If the pressure is ok but the clutch isn't working then you have a bad compressor clutch

    How can i add Coolant to the apu or does it share from the Engine?

    • @hillbillyholler516
      @hillbillyholler516  Год назад

      I haven't seen one share coolant to the engine except a rigmaster.
      The tgermoking units have a radiator cap.
      Here is a tip.
      When it's really hot, and your unit keeps shutting down try opening the hood for more air flow.
      It helps a lot.
      The cap should be located on the outside of the casing on the side towards the cab.
      Do not open it when it's hot!
      If you have a thermoking use dex cool 50/50 mix or 100% antifreeze mixed with with distilled water.
      Never use tap water in a cooling system.

    My inverter (thermo - king ) model showed code e03, then started beeping , after that , my control panel said ALT, I turned the master switch on and off, and the inverter on and off , and it's been ok now for several hours, I hve new batteries that are 2 months old , any suggestions at to what my hve caused this, I just spent $1000 plus dollars to get it serviced at thermo king less then a week ago .
    Could my inverter be bad ..?
    THX in advance .

    • @hillbillyholler516
      @hillbillyholler516  7 лет назад +2

      rrios283s73 the e03 code is a overcharge code or your inverter Wes receiving too many amps in excess of 15.5 volts.
      It could have due to a stuck voltage regulator or if you had your truck hooked up to a charger recently.
      Another cause is running more then one cooking appliance at a time causing a voltage deficit and when the system catches up it overcharged.
      On rare occasions clogged vent fans on your inverter can make it throw an overcharge code.
      So I would blow out your 2 vent fans located on the bottom and the 2 on the back and make sure they are clear.
      In the off chance your inverter is actually going out you can purchase a replacement on amazon for 1/3 of what thermo king charges and install it in 20 min or less.

    • @hillbillyholler516
      @hillbillyholler516  4 года назад +1

      That's a low freon code bro.
      Look on the back of your truck passenger side, and locate the black canister.
      Unplug the sensor there, and make sure it's not damaged.
      If it's ok then you need to add freon to your system.
      It takes 35# unless you are in 100 degree wether then its 40# of freon.
      If you read high when its running then your compressor is bad, and it's not pulling the pressure down.
      Another thing to check is the wires oh your compressor clutch that run through the housing on the compressor to the clutch.
      Make sure they aren't chafed and have exposed wire.

    • @hillbillyholler516
      @hillbillyholler516  7 лет назад

      Jose Morales grab the center of your compressor clutch when its not running of course and try to spin the centrer by hand.
      You should be able to turn it.
      If it wont turn then your compressor is locked up.
      High freon pressure usually means a bad compressor.
      The compressor moves the freon and will reduice the pressure in the lines to about 35 psi.
      If its showing red you have way too much freon pressure and if its locking up the belt when the clutch kicks in then either the compressor is locked up or it is way overcharged which is causing your compressor to seize

      I'm not familiar with the newer models so look in your owners manual on how to check the code.

      Highly competitive environment extremely underpaid office did not respect what you do on the mechanics floor president of the company love the salesman treated the mechanics like they were second-class people. I was a first-year tech was expected to perform like a journeyman I had to get a second job because I couldn't make enough money at this job when I got that second job had to quit cuz they considered it a conflict of interest the whole experience reminded me of the movie Hunger Games when the service manager fired me I was so happy I remember saying to him that's the best news I could have heard all day you should have seen the look on his face he was shocked

      Jon Minnella i knew tk was messed up but didnt know it was that bad!
      I had issues with them charging a diagnosis fee for obvious issues that i pointed out to them.
      For instance they charged me a $160 diagnosis fee when i took it in for a waterpump and i even told them what was wrong and showed them it was a seized waterpump.
      I didnt pay the fee of course and was asked never to come back to their shop.
      If i had the part i would have done it myself.
      Tk acts like any repair information if top secret and you can find very little about their stuff on how to fix it.
      I also found out most of their shops suck and you usually have to go in several times for them to fix it right. ( except nashville tn. and springfield mo. they do good work)
      Its a shame bc they make a great unit but service on apu's needs an upgrade

      Jon Minnella my last job was like that.
      All stress and drama plus working 6-7 days a week 14-16 hour days.
      I was sooooo happy to leave that hell hole!
      I was the operations manager and my reigonal manager short handed me and had me running my market plus 2 other markets.
      He always found a way to mess up my vacation plans.
      I had enough when they finally hired me an assistant and i found out he was making 14k more a year than i was and had no logistics experiance.
