    Thanks for the very clearly laid out, 5 step process to growing a 500 - 900 lb giant. I am following all of these Mark and so even though i'm a backyard amateur whose best is only 500 lbs, i will look forward to watching the second installment in this series to see what i am still missing in terms of getting to my goal of 1,000 lbs and without breaking the bank!

    Thanks for these good basic tips. I noticed all really big pumpkins have been grown in a greenhouse, not open to rain, hail, temperature swings, etc.

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  2 года назад +2

      Yes and if you use the right material shade netting an insect screens. Not plastic on your greenhouse you actually can create a cooler environment for the plant. Plants do not like over 90° temperatures typically most vegetable plants will shut down over 90. You can use greenhouses to make a cooler environment. That combined with warmer nights created by the greenhouse effect. Can help you grow a bigger pumpkin. But I must say a lot of monsters ever been grown outside

    Good useful stuff. Good points all, shot 22 woodchucks a couple summers back right where my patch is going. Not new to growing, but decided to try the giant pumpkins this year (2022). I bought 3 seeds from a 1659llb example, may buy more to hedge my genetics bet... Going to be interesting. Subbed. Thanks!

      I don’t imagine it can hurt much most likely chemical based should be all right just don’t put it on too heavy are you going to dissolve it in water? Or just broadcast it and water it in go lightly would be my recommendation

    Hi Mark.
    Hows the summer off going sofar.
    I'm working on my first atlantic giant.
    It's in the ground n growing good sofar.
    Secondaries are growing
    With the feeler s going out ok but many are curling up and not reaching out or trying to bury themselves in.
    Trying to keep my soil loose .
    Have you ever done any vids showing how they are running along .
    Ok thanks

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  2 года назад +1

      Yes the tendrils will not try to dig in they are curling up they will try to grab weeds try to grab grass but they were not designed to dig in you should bury them like you would bury The vines. Yes I have many videos in my playlist I’m getting ready to put together a video like a June video of July video what you should expect it August video and things that I have done. But if you have time to look to the playlist you print will find vine training videos

    Hello, For squash vine borers, as far as insecticides go, which ones are best and do the most damage to them?

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  2 месяца назад

      I guess dead 💀 is dead, but the merit is what I choose to use. You can find that you can Google that and find it eBay Amazon everywhere. However, you must remove all the mail flowers so you do not kill the bees using Merrit. There are alternatives. You can Google insecticides for squash, vine borer. It’s systemic and should be applied every 10 days.

    • @MobileMadness-wr1hh
      @MobileMadness-wr1hh 2 месяца назад +1

      @@Worldwidegiantgrowers Thank you, I didn’t think about the bees. I’ll remove the male flowers before I apply it every couple weeks to protect them.

      @MobileMadness-wr1hh The whole country is using this on their trees and bushes bear tree and shrub is the same thing at a much weaker version.

    My pumpkin stem has rooted to the ground, I'm thinking of gently lifting it and covering the area under with sand. Will it be bad to lift this root?

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  3 года назад

      Better to cut the root if you can gently dig it up to keep the roots.Not a game changer to cut the one root off many do it all the time

    Hey Mark, I bought the 1279 Clementz and 1768 Clementz and am looking to cross pollinate them this summer. I have limited space (approximately 150 feet) and was wondering which plant would you use for male & female? How many flowers would you pollinate before removing the male pollinator plant?

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  3 года назад

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  3 года назад +1

      Depending on your soil that could be 20 minutes to 45 minutes.Overhead sprinklers 45 minutes,Drip tape takes about the same .You need to get moisture down in soil a couple inches to water the plant.Growing a 500 lber to 1000 lber 50-70 gallons over 600 square foot plant should work .DO NOT KEEP THE SURFACE WET 7 days a week.= disease. Over watering is a common mistake
