Thanks for posting this great game from the 1986 Championship run! I remember thinking whoever won this game would probably win it all. I guess I was more nervous about this one than playing "that other team" for the championship. LOL!
Im not a UNC fan but its amazing how a 15 second stretch in the MD game that year totally changed there season. At that time they were 25-1 and clearly the best team in the nation. Well on there way to beating MD they end up going to OT where Steve Hale was injured. Team never was the same, losing 4-5 and dropping to a 3.
Oddly enough, not one of the top U of L teams in terms of talent (1975 final four, 1980 National Champions, and the 1983 Final Four Cards who lost to Houston (Akeem and Clyde) in an epic drunkest. I believe the Ville had three teams with greater talent, but lost to all time greats, 1975 UCLA, and 1983 Houston. This team had great basketball skill, and excellent free throw shooting. This is the number #2 of the three champion cards teams (#1 1980, #3 2013)
NBA Historian. I too thought 1983 team was a great team. Milt and Lancaster could go with any of them. Haf that game been played anywhere else I believe Louisville would've won. Cougars won that track meet. Altitude got them that day.
@@mongoslade277 Billy Packer was the point guard for Wake Forest from 1960-62! He was a key contributor to consecutive ACC tournament championships and helped Wake make it's only FF appearance in school history! Lost in the semifinals to loaded Ohio State, led by John Havlicek and Jerry Lucas
Denny Crum is THE most underrated college basketball coach of all time. On the other hand, Dean Smith (RIP) is THE most overrated college basketball coach of all time. Every player on UNC’s starting lineup was a high school All American, just like it every year from 1981 until he retired. A whopping two titles to show for ALL the talent he had over the 30+ years he coached.
A great X's and O's coach who loved big guards who could overtake smaller guards in the post and look over defenses. Inverted guard play(Coach Wooden)all day. Crum learned from the best.

Wow❗️Man do I know what you're saying...Lol & SMH
Thats so crazy 🤪 how people think alike.
Justin, thanks for the 1986 Louisville title run videos. I've been looking for them for a long time, much appreciated.
thanks for the add even as a UNC fan always wanted to see this game
Cards in the 80s were money$$$
Packer and Brent love them some uncl hating on Louisville
Made them eat Crow Pie LoL
I do wish they still alternated the player intros like they did then
Louisville also played in Houston on the way to the 1980 championship. Also beat LSU along the way.

Where does it say in the rulebook that over hype recruits equal success?
The Len Bias game
@@MeIn321 That’s not the point. It how UNC’s season trajectory flipped after the Maryland OT game
Forgot how good of a Carolina team the cards beat.
Louisville played this one in Houston, then travel the next week to Dallas.

The 75 team was loaded.
this was a great game final score didn't make it seem like but just a fun game to watch even as a fan of UNC
It was a very close game until late when Louisville went on the run to ice it. It was not a blowout at all.
Supposed to say dunkfest, not drunkest. How do you edit.

Could Packer have been any more biased for UNC?
He is an ACC man all the way.
He played in the ACC. Either at Wake Forest or Duke

No shot clock back then....
The shot clock made its debut in this tournament.
Yes there was, but there was no 3 point shot (that would be the next season).
45 second shot clock. Might as well say no shot clock

He overcoached. Dean Smith, the man who held Jordan to less than 20ppg
Just going to ignore the 11 final fours I guess.

With the talented players that came thru ChapelHill that should have resulted in more CHAMPIONSHIPS not F4’s!!
awful charge call on hale swung the momentum
Some BAD calls on Carolina in the last four minutes.....
