По поводу снятия старого лака. Цвет нового покрытия неплохой. Правда, мне больше понравился вид просто очищенного от лака дерева. Но это на мой вкус.
absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!
Thank you so much!!
Yes, a quick description of what you are doing during some of the steps but not talking, I think just text descriptions. Love the no talk format
Thanks for the feedback. I will keep it in mind making my next videos.
Would have liked to see a deeper finish on the wood to bring out it,s age, perhaps less stripping to save patina(old finish) plain but finish could have been better?Appreciate table value is not great but still an elegant piece would love to own it myself. But great work.

Please nix the "music" I'd rather listen to sanding. 6:22

@@TheRestorationGuyArie Specific question, to remove the varnish, is that paint strip gel?
Yes it is, on a base of dichloormetaan and methanol.
😮😮😮😮😊
On the bigger areas surely it would better and easier o use a bigger brush ?
I think it comes down to personal preference. But a bigger brush might indeed save time😃
This was fasinating.I have never seen a textile top like that How can it be a writing table if it is textured like that? Just courious.
Because it's not finished....laughing boy here just didn't put the leather or green baize layer on top....half a restoration.
Thanks for your comment. In fact there are a lot of historic examples of desks and even diningroomtables with laquered textile tops. They can look smooth as leather but also more rough and textured. This particular client chose for a more rough and in his eyes a more contemporary look.
Please change your music, it would be more pleasant to watch. Thank you so much for your work
Thanks for your comment. To clearify: the locks are functioning and the handles as well as the lockes are original to the piece. I feel no need to replace original hardware. Opening a drawer this size filled with paperwork with just a turned key would be hard i think.
The colour is a very dark colour of grey, indeed almost black. It was the specific choice of the client and matches his decor.
Really nice table I loved the result and yes material is a different choice but I suspect it was a customer request same with the dark colour (I liked it myself) and the customer is always right in these situations.
I have one question and please forgive my ignorance but you said the the table was mahogany but when you stripped the legs they looked very pale in comparison more like a lighter wood eg birch, poplar etc. was it different or just badly bleached?
Finally can I make one request ditch the AI voice over better just a written description. Just a personal thing I understand you may not wish to speak (I wouldn't want to 😂) but an AI sounds awful.
Very observant about the woodcolor: it is definately not a cuban mahogany or a high quality mahogany wood. As happend in the 19 century they took an inferior mahogany, paler and less dense and dyed it to a purpleish brown color. It was an artificial dye so after some sanding, the natural light color apeared.
And you are right about the AI voiceover: you try but not everything is a succes😜
