• Buwan/Bulan - Juan Kar...
Azka (who is, in fact, Indonesian) and I covered Katakataka, a Filipino folk song about an unlikely romance, whose origin and history I know nothing about. Azka's Filipino accent has gotten quite convincing, I think.
I'm wearing a Barong Tagalog, and Azka is wearing a Maria Clara-style Filipiniana dress.
Aside from the classical guitar and percussion, I'm playing a Philippine bandurria, a 14-stringed version of the Spanish instrument.
It was so hard to translate it into English and have it still make sense but that's best we could do; oh well

Love it Guys from Philippines

More songs more songs ipost po
I don't know much about music but, to me, this song sounds a lot like Spanish "jota" (a traditional dance music which Spaniards surely took to the Philippines).
It should be a law that Filipino folk songs should be aired in radio and there should be a TV program to promote our culture.
I completely agreed.

When I read her name I thought she was Indonesian. "Mutiara" means pearl. Then I searched and found out that she was indeed Indonesian. Good job. She sounds just like a native Pinoy. Two thumbs up for you.
Thank you for watching!!!
Mutya in filipino
@@yamnueva2932 yes our languages have many similarities!
Wajahnya indonesia banget ya
i thought she was filipina hahaha
I wish you'd do more covers like this because there's not much when it comes to Folk Music...
I agree; Filipino folk music is vastly underappreciated!
I agree. Fil-Am here... I wanna be able to play some folks songs for my 80+ year old dad and mom ...
Mutiara, you even got the old accent that was style of singing from back in the day. Loved it!
Lip sync. But I still loved it.
as a native speaker of filipino, i have to say you guys nailed this cover!
hi po can i ask if this song was created in pre Spanish period m
I had some inkling that she was not a true Tagalog speaker because Tagalogs do not always pronounce words ending in "o" as "o" but in "u" if within sentence or phrase. Example, "Puso kong ito'y binihag mo"...Tagalogs will say,"Pusu kung itu'y binihag mo".
I love the cover. This deserves more recognition that it actually gets.
Thanks so much!!!
Di ako makapaniwala na Indonesian sya?!?! Good Job we are truly brothers and sisters
Thank you!!!!
Still Good Job and Congratulations to her and too you! :)
Alipinin mo'y walang kailangan
Marinig ko lang sa labi mo hirang

I thought this was filmed in the 1960s!
I also did not expect the girl to be Indonesian. Her accent is spot on!
Awesome cover and editing!
Thanks, she's great at singing in Filipino!
Keep it up! Mad respect for the Pinoy and Indonesian artists here!
Amazing rendition! Such Filipino culture!❤❤
Thank you!!!
I love how you guys put your heart and talent into making this cover
How I wish filipino artists would sing traditional filipino songs
I think im one of the few filipino teens that actually listens to traditional songs instead of modern music
This song is stuck to my head after listening it for my schoolwork❤😂 This song is so wholesomee
I watched and listened to the rendition several times. Nostalgic, relaxing and uplifting. Their expression - facial, pronunciation, eye contact, and body movement by Mutiara were really entertaining. Excellent artists!
Great song & great performance! Nakaka-aliw talagang makinig at manuod sa Inyo.
Searching for a few Filipino classics to serenade y wife next year in the Philippines on our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Any suggestions?
That's lovely; advanced congratulations on such a huge milestone!!! I'd suggest this song: ruclips.net/video/7lhHo9l8-uc/видео.html Nat King Cole also sang this in Tagalog!

Minamahal Kita - a love song
Galing Gab and Azka(Pilipino & Indonesian).
This song sounds like a Portuguese folk song for some reason, even though Portuguese and Tagalog are 2 completely different languages
I am Portuguese btw
Yeah portuguese culture effect in pilipine
Spanish influence to our music. Spanish and Portuguese have similar cultures. That's why
spanish influence. 330 yrs of occupation.
Like a fado?
Mutya means pearl in Tagalog.
I mistook her as Filipino and that guy for Japanese because of his accent.
In Indonesia Pearl is Mutiara
Indonesian and Filipino are Austronesian. There are many similarities between faces and accents.
A Breath of FRESH AIR SO REFRESHING THROUGH THE HEARTS of ALL GENERATIONS. Thanks for POSTING.

Oh my God, what a lovely performance, she is so cute . . . BRAVO

Nice song, love from North East India🇮🇳 ❤❤❤
in the intro, when azka looks at gab, she looks like shes saying "you better be ready" to gab and the way gab stares at her is like "yes ma'am" but unfortunately you only get to see that scene for a blink of an eye
Bravo, bravo!... many thanks to you for singing this cover, "Katakataka"... this folk song brings back memories of many years ago and I love listening to it...
My mother is a Filipino, and hearing this just reminds me of her. Even if I identify my self as Japanese, filipino songs like this always makes me nostalgic haha.. :)
I am Filipino-Indonesian-Hawaiian, and I live in Indonesia and this song reminds me back home!
Whaaat! That girl is indonesian!!! Ooooh my God! Everything is perfect from the accent like everything!
We sang this in my highschool days... so refreshing /heartwarming... a glimpse of the yester years... bravo to both of you..
I love Kundiman! I grew up hearing my parents sing Kundiman, as well as my Grandma. So I know the songs by heart.. Thank you for this, brought back a lot of childhood memories..
I want to learn to play the Bandurria but I live in the states. Are there any books I can buy in the Philippines to learn how to play those old songs ?
Hi, thanks for watching! Honestly speaking, I just learn the pieces by ear, and as-needed for recording. Not sure if books are readily available, sorry!
Awesome rendition! Sounded so good. I've listened and watched many times, I lost count. Thank you brother and sister for doing this cover. Sending love to our brothers and sisters in Indonesia from Philippines!
This shows up randomly in recommended videos. Now, I've replayed it many times~
So good!! Especially Azka's voice, just like an angel. Beautiful. Kudos to the singers!
As someone who would always get bored from the ‘a bunch of children sing and here’s some visuals with jpeg images’ videos of folksongs, seeing this video was a real eye freshener for me. Also it was really wholesome seeing you guys just acting out and scenes and generally enjoying yourselves while singing it. Maraming salamat for making this video. (congrats on the accent you fooled me :0)
The docile way and the dress of this woman are beautiful, very beautiful.
Our national dress is the Philippine terno- worn in special occasions in the Philippines.
old memories of happy memories , our Filipino culture love songs...
This is SO GOOD. We listened to this during class. Nice one!!
An earworm of a song as we say in the UK. Cannot get it out of my head. Brilliant!!!
Please make more; your voices are perfectly clear for folk songs!
Sounds like real Filipino! thank you for appreciating Filipino folk music!
Feel in love with her voice, great job!
I remember this song when I was a young boy growing up in Quezon City back in the 1960s. I am in Texas, U.S.A. now. I visit whenever I can.
This is absolutely amazing! Thank you!
Phillipines folk song are now favorite in many countries and always winner western countries
Thnx this really help me for my module...
We need to copy some Filipino folk songs and this is the one I choose...
A great salute for us Filipinos..
Idk wtf this is or how it showed up on my shit, but much respect to these people. This is probably one of the most random suggestions I’ve ever gotten. From big names to no names old and new, people put in the effort they deserve respect. I’ll never listen to this but I appreciate them. As for Filipino I know a few I love the people and the culture.

I love classical.

nostalgic thanks for the beautiful rendition of that folk song of ours 🥰😍😘
Wow! I find this song so relaxing. Reminds me of yesteryear.
Wow! Since napunta ako dito sa Denmark 🇩🇰, ngayon ko ulit narinig "tong Phil. folk song 🎵
I have heard Filipino music those day and I can Confirm, Filipinos are brother counsins of Hispanic americans, the rytms are so similar with hispanic folk music specially with an Argentinian group called the Visconti and also have similar rytms of Andean music and Pasillos.
I remembered when i was grade IV wala kaming ibang kanta twing pagpasok ni Sir ganyan talaga ☺️☺️☺️namis kotong kantahin until now memorize kupa din ang lyrics ☺️☺️ di ako magsasawang kantahin to? 🤭🤭🤭🤭

Wow! I love their voices!! Excellent performance! Highly enetertaining!! I really thought they were Filipinos!!! Amazing!!!!
Indonesians? Easy to believe, they are brothers in everything, if course they get our songs right. Thanks.
beautiful performance!
It sounds so familiiar to Goan/Managlorean songs of India. Though in Inida its Portugese influenece and in The Philipines its Spanish.
I don't understand the song ....but her smiling face make this song melody
More folk songs cover to come!!!
