    Best cook set I saw was prius with inverter, induction plate, pressure cooker. He saved lots of time. I have a wood gas stove. I can cook a pot of beans 3 cups of wood pellets enough to feed over 5 people very well. I cook a pot beginning of the week will eat on it for a week. I have other things to eat but have the beans and rice as a backup. To be honest I add about a 12 inch Skillet filled with meat to the beans, use 2 type of sausage and either some browned ground beef or turkey. I added chopped pork loin last time. I buy the best I can get looking for the lowest price per pound.

      An induction plate would be ideal yes, but those require at least 1,000 watts, and I would need to either modify the 12V battery or get solar panels to get that kind of power. I will probably invest in something like that in the future, but for now the most affordable option for cooking is to use the butane stove. Beans and rice are the bomb! :)

      Ok found it. Cheap RV living. Com produces the video the name of the video is living in a Prius. At 11 minutes he shows his induction cooker is pressure cooker so forth so on. I do not have this set up in my car I did buy a large inverter never set it up I need to get to that. Thing is I bought a piece of property for $12,300 including lawyer fees. It would help me just set these things up for disaster preparedness but other than that it's not really required for me to do so. I do have a runaway camper that I can chill with my Prius I have a generator 200 watt solar suitcase I've got a lot more stuff than most do. What I don't have it's practice using them all. I guess I could get to it and start practicing these things one of the things I want to do right now is get my stuff packed up and ready to go in case we have a levee breach. at the very least I need to stage my things to where I can do this quickly. I think we're going to see a lot of people displaced by flooding this year. the potential for earthquakes on the New Madrid fault zone is very high with all this water weighing down the property or should I say the continent all that water weighs a lot and it could cause that fault line to snap and when that thing snaps it's a big one . That fault line is near St Louis Missouri

    Nice. I am thinking about buying a prius to do this. I know some people put a flat solar panel on the roof and add an extra battery to hook up a small fridge, micro wave, pressure cooker or induction plate.

    The presentation was beautiful! Very artistic. I was hoping to get angles to see how you set up your kitchen in a prius, I couldn't really tell. My 2007 Prius is almost ready to be my RV (retirement vehicle) but I'm hoping to get ideas about cooking inside when the weather is bad outside...keep up the vids, what you are doing is important and you have a knack for presentation!

      I plan to use an induction cooker with a tiny pressure cooker from amazon. I will connect it to a 1000watt inverter.

    • @LivingBigInAPrius
      @LivingBigInAPrius  5 лет назад

      Nannycam eoma Now that I know more, I can provide a more full answer to this. For cooking inside, a butane stove (as seen in the video) is fine as long as you crack a window (don’t do that with propane!) but an induction cooktop is best. How to power it? Connect it to a pure sine wave inverter that has been hooked up directly to the 12V battery. This is not the same as the Hybrid HV battery. This allows you to draw much more power than the usual 120w the 12V system lets you draw. There are videos online that show you how to do this step by step or you can take your Prius to an auto audio shop and they can do it for you. I might make a video myself of the exact process. But once you have that hooked up, you can draw 1500 watts or more. Induction cooktop is best for cooking inside the car on bad weather days. Let me know if you have any questions! :)

    NIce. What if it's windy? Or raining? I'm fitting out my Prius to go out on day trips or even overniters to see the spring wildflowers.

    • @LivingBigInAPrius
      @LivingBigInAPrius  5 лет назад +1

      Right now, I don't cook if it's raining since there isn't currently enough room in my Prius to cook comfortably inside. So I either eat out or just eat food that doesn't need to be cooked when that happens. What I plan on doing in the future is setting up a tent that I can stand in and set up my kitchen in that. Prius Wanderer has a great setup like that and it works really well!

    • @ttwillow9073

      @@LivingBigInAPrius Yes. I plan on getting a tent I can stand in too. It will be my kitchen, bathroom and dressing room. I plan on sleeping in the Prius to take advantage of the heat or ac as needed. When I do down the road it will haul everything. I took it out for a drive to see the wildflowers and got 42 MPG.

    Wincing at how you make tea. Using boiling water for a black tea and swishing around the bag, as well as leaving the bag in indefinitely, will make it taste bitter. Tea is not supposed to be bitter.

    • @LivingBigInAPrius
      @LivingBigInAPrius  4 года назад

      cypher null There’s a cut there. Trust me, it wasn’t boiling when I poured the water in. I let it sit until the bubbles subsided. Besides that, this is simply how I was taught to make black tea. If you have any tea tips, please share! 😊

    • @cyphernull6722
      @cyphernull6722 4 года назад +1

      @@LivingBigInAPrius Brewing time for black tea is around 3-5 minutes. A longer steep time does not necessarily result in stronger tea, and will increase the chance of it bittering and losing subtle flavor. As a tea steeps, the flavor changes, so I recommend tasting it at 3, 4, and 5 minutes to determine your taste preference. If you want a stronger tea, use more bags, but don't steep longer than that if its a black tea (herbals can steep as long as you want). While the tea is brewing, you want to disturb the water and tea as little as possible. Don't stir the bag, don't squeeze it, just leave it be. More tannins will be released if you do which will make your tea bitter and unpleasant.

    So close up I have no idea about the “how” aspect. And I guess you’re cooking at the rear?

    • @LivingBigInAPrius
      @LivingBigInAPrius  5 лет назад

      Linda Sue Yes, I’m cooking on the rear hatch and I’m using a Coleman butane stove I got from Target. All items that required refrigeration I kept in that cooler you saw. I decided to show more than tell on this video. In the future, I’ll invest in a small table for more counter space and a 12V cooler so I don’t have to buy ice. I hope this helped! :)

    Are you a vegetarian?

    • @LivingBigInAPrius
      @LivingBigInAPrius  4 года назад

      M J I am not, but I am gradually going meatless since it is more environmentally friendly. I use a lot of vegan products already because I am allergic to dairy and am picky about my meat. I use alternatives like soy milk, tofu cream cheese, and avocado oil spread. For meat I just eat chicken, turkey, and fish. The hot dog you see in the video is chicken and pork but I don’t eat those anymore and have switched back to turkey bacon, which is what I grew up on. The eggs are organic and free range.
