In 2019, along came some mainland Chinese saw the tree was a valuable commodity and decided to chopped down some branches for his own gain.😡🤬. When the university saw the unruly damage, locals set up vigils to protect the tree. Just think how angry locals, students were. We certainly don’t want the likes of Donal Trump accused immigrants eating cats & dogs now, do we?

留意有分 sweet chestnut 同 horse chestnut 兩種.
栗子 (sweet chestnut) 外殼既刺比較長, 一個果實入面有好多粒, 然後一般比較細粒. 樹葉既形狀係長形帶鋸齒既.
Horse chestnut 外殼既刺比較短, 入面既種子係單個. Horse chestnut 既樹葉係手掌型, 所以可以見到公園入面有唔少, 如果打算帶小朋友去採集既就要注意.
生既 horse chestnut 係有毒既, 誤服有可能做成腹痛, 腹瀉, 痙攣, 迷失方向. 大量服用會做成急性腎臟捐傷, 甚至可能死亡. 可以驅蟲. 英國傳統做法會用佢放響窗台嚟驅趕蜘蛛, 不過已經證實係冇用既 反而新鮮既 horse chestnut 可以驅趕衣蛾.
其實只要正常有味覺既人都無可能會誤食 horse chestnut，因為佢苦過弟弟，唔好問我點解知🫣🫣🫣
