You also forgot to mention that Hamilton below the escarpment is one if the best places in Canada to garden if you know anything about plants! I left Ottawa 55 years ago to come back to the Hamilton area because of the things that I can grow here!!!! Our growing season is 2 months longer than Ottawa's for example. People don't realize that we are 1000 km SOUTH of Vancouver and we have the heat units to grow a vast variety of plants. For example, I grow Myrtles from South Carolina, I have a huge Sequoiadendron, 30 ft temperate climate bamboo, Alstroemerias from Peru which last all winter, Cedrus libani from Lebanon, Cedrus deodara from the Himalayas, and Cedrus atlantica from the Atlas mountains in Morocco, They are all hardy here, and just here from Hamilton to Niagara on the Lake. My figs are even hardy. Finally, we have in many places the best of sandy loam and that is why we grow the best peaches on the continent just east of town. So, if you like gardening or fruit farming, this area is the place to be!
Wow, what an incredible insight into Hamilton’s gardening potential! The extended growing season and unique climate truly make it a gardener’s paradise. It’s amazing to hear about the variety of plants you grow-everything from South Carolina Myrtles to figs and temperate bamboos! Hamilton to Niagara really is a special place for gardening and fruit farming. Thanks for sharing your passion and expertise!
Thanks for the video. Slow down a bit my friend!
Thanks for watching and for the feedback! I’ll definitely work on slowing down in future videos-appreciate your support!
Considering moving out of toronto is Hamilton safer???
Overall yes, there are some rougher parts like Toronto (like any big city) however there are lots of places that are very safe. Send me an email if your interested in learning a more detailed breakdown!
Hi. I'm considering immigrating to Canada with my family mainly because of my autistic toddler and I'm looking into Hamilton and london in Ontario and regina in sk can you please guide me more on this?
Hey, all my info about living in Hamilton is on this channel is there a particular question about Hamilton your looking for? In terms of the other areas I don't know much about them so unfortunately I can't help you with those
What's your website to check for real estate in Hamilton Ontario please
Here is my website where you can search all the available homes in Hamitlon

Hey apologies for the late comment. From the perspective of an American wanting to move to Hamilton and rent for now, would a job in the US pay comparatively as much in Hamilton or do people typically get paid the same number of dollars just in CAD? In other words, does US income in a similar job pay just as much as in Hamilton or anywhere in Ontario? I understand you're a realtor, but from someone who lives there would you happen to know? Thanks for the video btw; really helpful!
Hey brenden, If you continue in the same job with the same company as some of my clients have done they will continue to pay you your US salary in Canadian dollars which works to your advantage with the exchange rates historically. If you are looking to find a new job which is similar to the job you currently have I would think it would be similar in pay but i think it would depend on the company. Best way to find out would be to look at some popular job boards in Canada like indeed or zip recruiter to see how well they pay compared to your current job.
For a family of four, an adolescent and a primary school kids, and one of the parents attending Mohawk College, would you think living in Burlington and commuting to Mohawk foolish considering homeless, drug issues in Hamilton for the kids? The main concern is the kids, but is living in Burlington instead an overkill?
Hey Noyan, great question! There are a lot of great area's and neighbourhoods which are perfect for family's on Hamilton's Mountain where you won't have to worry about those issues and a bunch are similar to Burlington such as Ancaster, Mountainview, Binbrook & Mt Hope. In these places there will still be a little commute to Mohawk but for sure shorter than Burlington. If you choose to live in Burlington the commute is about 25 - 40 mins depending traffic. If you have any other questions about Hamilton or Burlington feel free to email me! Matthewkellyco@gmail.com
@@LivingInHamiltonOntarioCanada Really appreciated lightning fast and sincere answer.
Great video, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
The problem of student housing has//is being addressed with over $600 M in high-rise structures.
Absolutely! There's a lot of development happening with student housing, which will definitely help. That said, I think we'll still continue to see a good number of rentals in homes as well!
is it safe to live in hamilton?? i have lately heard about homeless people causing problem.
Overall, Hamilton is a safe place to live. There are some rougher neighbourhoods like any large city has but also lots of very safe neighbourhoods. If you are interested, I'd be happy to help you navigate moving to the right areas of Hamilton. Shoot me an email: Matthewkellyco@gmail.com!
Hi! Thank you for an informative video! Me an my family will be moving from Ukraine to Canada soon and the question is how much money do I need to pay upfront to rent a house. Like, if property is $2000/month, in Europe it typically means that I need to pay 2 month upfront and 1 month payment as a safety deposit if I damage something. What's the situation in Hamilton and Canada in general?
Hey Anatoliy! I appreciate your support! It sounds very similar to what is required in Canada. All landlords will look for 2 months up front (First & Last). There is no safety deposit in Canada. However depending on your credit score, employment & overall tenant profile some landlords will want more than 2 months upfront. Hope this helps!
Also you'll be paying for water and insurance houses are like 3000 or more a month air is terrible for asthma
You forgot mentioning that Hamilton is an insurer's paradise. We have no hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires, ice storms, not even very much snow, dreary rainy winters, insects or earthquakes. I can't think of any other city in Canada that does not have some of these problems. i would not want to live in Kelowna, for example where a wildfire might burn down my house or in Ottawa where you freeze to death for 6 months or in Winnipeg where the insects carry you away!
Great point! Hamilton’s relatively mild climate and lack of major natural disasters definitely make it an appealing and safe choice. It’s nice to live in a city without having to worry about wildfires, extreme cold, or swarms of insects-definitely a perk of being here!
Why? Denninger's.
This is a very good reason!
Albion* falls. Not Albany falls
why you are so excited
about bit calmer please
Lol. I appreciate the feedback! I'll work on it in future videos!
Hey! This is kind of a late comment, but I was wondering if you know whether Hamilton is a good city to study in? I'm thinking of applying for McMaster University. My first choice would be Toronto, but it's highly unlikely to get into a university there. So I was wondering whether Hamilton would be a good option, given that it isn't that far from Toronto, also is a relatively large city and is close to the water. Do you have any info regarding the studying conditions there? Greetings from Germany!
Hey Clara, I went to McMaster for 5 years for my Degree before getting into real estate and had an amazing time. Lots of great local restaurants close by the school, events happening every weekend at Mac or in Downtown Hamilton and a bus that that comes evey hour that can take you to down town Toronto. I also love the McMaster Campus with the older Buildings and green space to relax in.
@@LivingInHamiltonOntarioCanada Wow, thank you so much for your quick response! The vicinity to Toronto and the courses offered at McMaster are a big pro for Hamilton... I truly appreciated your video as well, it helped me get an insight into Hamilton as a city.
@@claraw1515 no problem! If you end up going to mac you will need to check out some of the waterfalls while your here! Best of luck!
Is there much crime in Hamilton?
Its like any other big city (i.e. Toronto) their is some in certain areas most crime here are non violent and is mostly around drugs. However you can find many areas which very safe with very little crime.
Buddy, it's the OHL not the AHL
You are correct! I noticed that after filming! Good Catch
New sub here❤
Awesome! Thank you so much!
Which city do you recommend in ontario for a couple having WFH (no car)?
Hey Amrita, I'd probably recommend Hamilton, in a community near the downtown core or near one of the transportation hubs like McMaster offers to the neighbourhood Westdale. Or i'd recommend living in the core of Downtown Burlington close to some shopping centers. If you need help finding a place or have more questions send me an email! Matthewkellyco@gmail.com
Nice video. I love my city
Thank you so much!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💫🥰💛
Thank you so much!

Lol!! Only wish I was getting paid for the ad!
Steel? Still? I thought we have a climate emergency
Yea they aren't as big as they used to be and have more regulations now to ensure they are polluting the air of water. But still need the steel to make cars and other things
yes steel mills are now mostly in china. as we all know china's emissions stay in china. so yay for canada.
There is pros to living in Hamilton? Who would of knew lmao
Just a few.....otherwise I don't think 600K people would live here.
Do they have a zoo ?
There is one just a short drive away called African Lion Safari!
@@LivingInHamiltonOntarioCanada And don't forget Toronto Zoo! Marineland near Niagara Falls has a bit of a petting zoo, but no big zoo animals to speak of.
