The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox Activ Is A Bolder & Boxier Compact Family SUV

  • The #ChevroletEquinox has always been a top-seller SUV in the compact segment. For 2025, it's fully redesigned and borrows styling from its larger Blazer and Traverse siblings. The new #EquinoxActiv is also the first-ever off-road oriented version of the #Equinox and it brings some decent off-road hardware to make this latest version a lot more capable.

I like the boxier look for this model. It never made sense to me that the trailblazer looked more masculine and serious than the equinox. They’ve certainly addressed that but can we give *gm* their flowers for their new day level of quality and interior designs? It’s night and day from just 7-9 years ago, and currently at the very top of the pack - that’s not an easy nor a cheap feat.! Very impressed with the packaging too, I like the upscale RS trim vs. just offering some blacked out package.

Here's the thing about what I call the " 36ers ", ie, ALL BRANDS that focus on BASIC 36,000 mile warranty cars. They have a crappy warranty because they need you to come back in 3 years to trade and buy again, INSTEAD of focusing on better build quality / 60,000 miles like Hyundai or Kia.
As usual, Chevy sinks money into everything MINUS the one thing that actually matters more, the engine. Putting the same lackluster 175 HP slow, unimpressive engine, especially not offering something more powerful in the ACTIVE trim, will bite them in the butt.
If you increase the ride height and up the HP / torque to give people a REAL reason to spend more money on the ACTIVE trim, you instantly gain a broader customer base of weekend campers / hikers etc. Chevy always takes the easy out.
The point is, why bother giving the car a complete makeover inside and out,if the real reason you can sell FAR MORE isn't addressed?

People like the comfort of knowing they can drive off the beaten path if they need to whether they plan to or not. Not only that, these vehicles are safer on uneven terrain and surfaces with bigger debris on the roads like small rocks in the countryside or bottles and trash in the city streets. Because of the tire profiles they’re arguably more comfortable as well. People also like the styling and there are other trim levels if you don’t need the capability nor care for look.
