This was a great show, and Michael Young was the best host of it. As a pre-teen, I loved this show. It was like a combo Tonight Show/American Bandstand for teens. There was nothing else like it on TV. In Northeastern Pennsylvania, it aired on a 6 day delay on Saturday mornings at 6:30 am before the ABC Saturday morning cartoons

Our ABC affiliate WVUE never aired this show instead we got the Sunday morning movie which were b-movies.

I'm sure other ABC affiliates, including Channel 10 in the Tampa Bay area back in those days, did more or less the same thing, be it for B-movies, paid religion or public affairs.
As for one of the production staff listed on the credits at 2:12, would "Elizabeth Plonka" be the very same who went on to direct everything from "Clarissa Explains it All" to "Late Night with Conan O'Brien"?

I am now 51; I was hella lucky - KGO-TV was (and remains) an ABC O/O (Owned/Operated) station, meaning it HAD to air "KAPT".
And I'm damn glad they did; it was a helluva concept and show.

Thank you! So tired of the PC/CC generation who just look for things to judge. They weren't alive to see, live & realize it was a much more innocent time. And very acceptable to give a warm hug or a kiss on the cheek to a fan! You really believe they would've let it occur if it proved to be anything but? Whoever wrote this just try to show some trust in these things, as you've nothing to reflect on besides what you have in your own generation good or bad. I'll take the mid-late 70s & early 80s as THE ultimate time to grow up!
