  • In recent years, controversies over book bans in school libraries have sparked nationwide debates. There has been a rise in litigation about the freedom to read, an issue many believe is protected under the First Amendment. In this video, I’ll introduce three cases that have shaped our understanding of this issue: Evans v. Selma Union High School District (1924), Minarcini v. Strongsville City School District (1976), and Island Trees School District v. Pico (1982).
