- A little review of the Runnzer Pop-up Single Mosquito Net "Tent" (really more of a bivy). It is a good alternative to the Outdoor Research bug bivy (not to mention more spacious and less expensive). I have been using it to "cowboy camp" and sleep under a tarp for the past two years.
I like the single-zip version since it is wider in side and collapses down smaller for throwing in my pack. It also offers more visibility as there is more mesh, especially looking out the back when laying down. But it is sort of limited when setting up camp under a tarp. Allowances must be made so one's head is not downhill and there is enough room to get in and out of the bivy under the tarp. The advantage of the 2-zip version is that you can enter and exit the bivy on either side, so there's a lot more flexibility when setting it up under a tarp.
If anyone from Runnzer sees this, a double-zip version that is the same size as the single-zip would be the best of all possible worlds.
Here are the measurements:
Single-zip version
82.6 " (long) x 27.6 " (high at head end) x 19.7 " (high at foot end) x 41.3 " (wide)
It is a little over a pound and half

2-zip version
86.6 " (long) x 25.6 " (high at head end) x 19.7 " (high at foot end) x 39.4 " (wide)
It is just under 2 lbs.

If you are looking to get one of these and try it out, you may also look on ebay, AliExpress, Smartver or even Walmart for a cheaper price.
My objective is to gradually grow this channel. I create my vids because I enjoy putting them together. I am not into buying subscribers or taking short-cuts. I realize my videos are a bit all over the place, but I do think they provide a bit of value here and there. I know it will take however long it will take to get to 1,000 subscribers (that's the goal...), but I'm not going anywhere. I'm in for the long haul. Your a blessing instructions don't break down the breakdown 😅 well thanks for your content 🙏
Just got one. It's well cool. The only vid on this. It packs so small. I put a TRC Outdoors tarp 3x3 over the top. Great review. Thanks
Have been searching for something like this to go with my tarp. Thank you sharing
You don't need to place a tarp or ground sheet underneath cause the bivy has no walls. It is just made from netting best to use a groundsheet tarp underneath when it does have walls to stop condensation going in.
@@liannislam9006 thank you for that. But still need the tarp coz of the rain. 😀
@@miksUSA777 true I have the bug out rei co-op bivy we all need shelter from the rain lol 🙏
Hello, I came across this video because I wanted a compact shelter tent for one person. When I look at the product images for this tent, I see that it is placed on a cot. Does this tent have a band to secure it to the cot? Or is it just placed on top?
I don't put it on a cot, but it does have straps/loops on each corner. Those could secure it to a cot, I suppose.
Thanks. I guess you can put a sleeping mat under it, or is it room inside for one?
I find there is plenty of room inside for a sleeping mat.
Thanks for posting this definitely thinking I might grab one for my tarp kit too
Can this be used on a cot? Need for scout camp. Looks like it needs guideline.
I think you could use it on top of a cot, if the dimensions of the cot are big enough. The guyline that holds the footbox up could just flop (I mean, once your feet are in, it kinda stays up on its own), or you could string it up to something above the end of the cot instead of staking it down to the ground. All the best with Scout camp.
@@DribbleFunk Bought two versions, one is a pop-up freestanding one and the other is the type in your video. The mesh is better on the video one, and the pop-up is twice the size when folded. It will not fit in a pack. Worst case, she can tie the line to a rock and put it under her cot. There will not be a place to hang it as the tent is too high. It fits 4 girls in cots. Thanks for the reply. Looks like either could work in this situation. Happy Camping!
Interesting design wish the 2 zipper was all mess
Great review
Just ordered one.
And if anyone from Runnzer ever watchesthis, a small clear screen or some type of clear material panel as part of the Runnzer for looking up at the stars and moon would be great too!
Thanks. I'm sold.
awesome video
Thanks!
Hey thanks for doing this
Actually wish someone would put a better fold up
