One of the kids at my son's school was a potted plant. His mom bought a large plastic pot and cut the bottom and attached suspenders. The plant was a bunch of plastic vines but it covered him completely. When he bent his knees and crouched you couldn't tell he was inside. It really was a great costume.
The most interesting costumes I've seen was about 4 years ago. My nephew dressed as The Man in the Yellow Hat (he is tall and skinny just like the character) and his little boy was Curious George🐵
I saw a big blow up chicken costume that was hilarious! Amanda I am amazed at all you seem to juggle between home work ,the shop and your gorgeous knitting ! What type of work do you do?
I think I have to go back to Halloween costumes of the past with my kids. I made a shark costume for my son one year. The head was pretty epic. And for my daughter, one year she wore an old bridesmaid dress. I modified it to have a corset back.
Saw an interesting costume this year of an invisible man... with a shirt up over the head (with eye holes, of course) and a hat on wires up above the head.
I frankly didn't see many this year- however I did see a feature on the news where parents of a child in a wheelchair made it into a zamboni- very clever - every year he chooses and they make it!
A few years ago my brother went as a pumpkin man, he cut out and painted a large gourd like a pumpkin and wore it over his head like a mask with a black cape.
My oldest grandson was Ken this year - he’s more adorable than any Ken I’ve ever seen 💕 I think we should do a vest along starting in January - I love Amanda’s vest and I have 2-3 others I really want to make.
One year my husband and I were a box of nerds, but one of the boxes that is 2 flavors split down the middle, so we each were half the box. I thought it was kind of fun
My grandson had my favorite costume. He was a transformer. He’s in the super hero stage. Not sure if a transformer fits into that category. She bought the template on ETSY for the costume.
You all give such great information. Loved seeing your knits. Best Halloween costume. We didn’t actually get to do this because we couldn’t find the size we needed. But my son wanted to dress in an all white body suit and tie a red ribbon around his neck to be a bowling pin. I thought it was funny.
There were so many creative costumes! I would have to pick my granddaughter’s Belle costume as my favorite! It was a blue dress with the white apron (when Belle goes to market). She also carried a book (she is a book lover, like Belle!) Love your podcast! As a newer knitter, you all inspire me to try new things. I made my first sweater over the summer. Thank you!
A co-worker and my Granddaughter dressed as "Winnie Sanderson" from Hocus Pocus this year. Both were a surprise for me when I saw them and they were adorable. While the child version was not as elaborately made the adult costume from Amazon was absolutely gorgeous! I am considering getting it for myself for next year 🤗
My daughter always does extraordinary costumes every year-it’s really hard to pick a favorite! Maybe Ron Burgundy? Complete with a Mr Microphone and a stuffed toy Baxter. 😂 Go Team GSR!
I saw so many blow up costumes this year! They were just comical- more about the challenges they created with spatial awareness and if there was more than one together. Reminded me of the blow up Sumo wrestlers. Thanks for podcasting.
Hi ladies. Thanks for answering my short row question. Most interesting costume was years ago when I worked for a defense department contractor. A colleague dressed as a tube of Crest toothpaste and a toothbrush. It was so original and he made the entire costume himself.
A few years ago, in NY, the trick or treating had stopped. A bit later, my doorbell rang. When I opened the door, standing on the walkway was a little girl dressed in a Cinderella costume, and her Dad next to her, in a tuxedo. Her Prince Charming. (Dad probably was home late from work, hence the late trick or treating, it was heartwarming). Thank you, all, I enjoy how you select patterns and yarn colors- and give advice on fit etc. Thank you, Jen for the courage to try German Twisted Cast on...beginning a Citris Hat by Laura Treadway today. 🧶
My granddaughter had a costume one year that her other grandma made. She was a tree with a stuffed bird on her shoulder (branch) and a stuffed squirrel attached coming up her leg (trunk).
Thank you for another enjoyable podcast. Your children look adorable in their costumes. When my children were little, they dressed up as a ballerina and a toy soldier from The Nutcracker. I cherish those photos. Karin
Ladies-again thank you for sharing your wealth of sweater knitting knowledge with us! I’m soaking it all up. Jen-what is the name of the sweater you are wearing?
My friend makes her kid extraordinary Halloween costumes each year. My favorite was the gigantic spotted lantern fly with wings that could spread or fold in. It made quite a splash when they were trick or treating together on Montclair Ave!
I listen to basically everything at 2x speed. I swear it helps me focus and understand better. I'm not usually around people dressed up for Halloween (unless you count scare actors), but we saw a Tiger King and Carol Danvers couples costume at a local Halloween attraction this year. I kept wondering if it a costume they made in 2020 or if they just watched it or what. But either way it was still a hit and I noticed lots of people complimenting them or taking pictures of them!
Hi Kathleen, Jenn and Amanda, thanks for another inspiring episode! My all time favorite Halloween costume made by mother was an adorable elephant! Happy Knitting!
We had short versions of Sonic, Tails, and Pikachu this year, but we didn't see anyone else as we live kinda rural. I love seeing all the WIPs you always share. It's so much fun. I really need to get going on my Svendsdatter, Jen. I'm behind. Also, woohoo for Schoppel Wolle being with you now!
Great podcast! The most creative and interesting costume I saw was a 4-year-old boy dressed up as a cuckoo clock because he was infatuated with cuckoo clocks
Best Costume: Long ago, when the Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas picture book came out, there was a Halloween launch party at the Los Angeles shop Every Picture Tells a Story. There I saw a guy in a trim pinstripe suit and a bowler hat, both of which seemed to be covered in bird droppings. He was also wearing a metal harness that rose about three feet over his head, from which was suspended a very realistic papier mache seagull. Hollywood Halloween is like no other Halloween anywhere. Loved the podcast. Glad to be a new subscriber.
First time viewer -- fun podcast so thanks! I'm a teacher so everyone at my workplace dresses up for Halloween, and my favourite this year was Weird Barbie ... seemed so obvious after the fact that I'm sorry I missed doing this -- perfect costume for 2023, imho. Thanks for all the yarny inspiration and info. So many gorgeous projects you're all working on but that Sophie Shawl looks so incredibly wearable that that might have to hop on my needles very soon.

Hello Ladies😊. One unique costume I have seen was last year. A trick or treater was wearing a doll house all homemade. Pretty awesome!
The most interesting costumes I've seen was about 4 years ago. My nephew dressed as The Man in the Yellow Hat (he is tall and skinny just like the character) and his little boy was Curious George🐵
My friend's daughter dressed up as a bunch of grapes - a black body suit covered in purple balloons. Very cute!
The most interesting costume I saw this year was an inflatable one that was a Balloon Dog.
Hi Ladies. I love your podcast. #opinions: what are your favorite last-minute gift ideas

Love that!

Best costume was a milk carton kid! I always learn something (or many something’s!) on your episodes!
I once saw a hand made Christmas Tree, star, lights and all as a Halloween costume. It was fabulous!
One year my husband and I were a box of nerds, but one of the boxes that is 2 flavors split down the middle, so we each were half the box. I thought it was kind of fun
OMG - I love this! ~K🧶
My grandson had my favorite costume. He was a transformer. He’s in the super hero stage. Not sure if a transformer fits into that category. She bought the template on ETSY for the costume.
An interesting costume I saw this year was a dog dressed in a UPS delivery costume.
My 6 year old great grandson dressed as a Costco Sample person for his grandpa’s fire department Trunk or Treat.
He is 13 now, but when my son was 2, he was an electric guitar. He was so adorable, and I’ve never seen another one like it.

Fav costume was my husbands Dracula when I got him to wear Dracula makeup. (Love German short rows.)
My favorite is the one where there is a small baby dressed as a lobster carried around in a stock pot /lobster pot !!!
Love the blow up costumes like of the t rex they just make me smile 😂

Always nice catching up with you ladies🤗We only see a handful of trick or treaters, but this year we didn’t see any🥺
During Halloween i saw the most "beautifull" zombie nun ever ! She had the habit ("hat" for nuns) and the face cover in blood. So cool!!! 🧟♀

So fun!
My favorite Halloween costume was the Funshine bear costume I made for my Care Bear obsessed daugher. Complete with embroidered heart on the bottom
So sweet!
My husband and I went as a Herd of Cows. Yes, I consider 2 as a herd. :)
😂😂😂

I saw a baby dressed as Tweety Bird and my heart about exploded!
Cuteness! 🐥
Ladies-again thank you for sharing your wealth of sweater knitting knowledge with us! I’m soaking it all up. Jen-what is the name of the sweater you are wearing?
I'm wearing a Felix pullover made in Kelbourne Woolens Lucky Tweed!
You are so welcome!
I live in a senior community and the best costumes I saw were salt and pepper shakers. Too cute.
My son dressed up as Chef Boyardee and carried beef ravioli
Love your podcast! Thanks Ladies.
Thanks for watching!
My favorite costume was a mama and baby lobster
My friend makes her kid extraordinary Halloween costumes each year. My favorite was the gigantic spotted lantern fly with wings that could spread or fold in. It made quite a splash when they were trick or treating together on Montclair Ave!
I remember that one - it was amazing! ~K🧶
I saw a kid wearing one of those “wind dancers” that you see outside of stores. She was having a bit of a problem in the wind. 😊

Enjoyed your episode. My 5 year old grandson was a slice of pepperoni pizza and my son(his dad) was a pizza delivery man.
