    Can you do old Timbaland like Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, style production? Working on something like that for an artist but would love to see your approach. :) thanks for your videos!

    One thing I want to mention to anyone trying to replicate The Neptunes sound; they both went through their high school band, and so you'll hear all the drum rhythms of a marching band in both the percussion and melodies / chords! Listen carefully to how Chad plays stabby Triton chords!

    Best way to replicate and recreate the sound of the 90s and early 2000s is own the original equipment from those eras. I own pretty much every sound of the 90s and 2000s as my legacy hardware Rompler Synthesizer sound module collection as I own the Roland Fantom-XR, Yamaha MOTIF Rack-ES, Roland Integra-7 essentially modern XV5080 that has all the sounds of the JV and XV series, E-MU Proteus 2000 and the E-MU Mo Phatt module. I also have the Korg Triton and Triton Extreme software. I use all of that with my modern soft synths in Studio One mixing old school with new school.

    • @3WL2
      @3WL2 10 месяцев назад

      Absolutely no one asked you or gives a fk if you have original hardware. Obviously, the best way is to use OG hardware. This tutorial is for bedroom producers who most likely don't have the funds or time invested to spend money on hardware from that long ago.

    I think is on point, but i'm a really big fan of 2000's neptunes and they had a really heavy sound even though the songs were so simple. I dont know how they got that sound

    • @MakePopMusic

      Chad Hugo gets his mention! But even after Pharrell was doing his own productions outside of the Neptunes, he was still using a ton of these 7ths and 9ths and harmonic movements.
