  • Creston BC is a beautiful small town snuggled between mountains located in the southwestern corner of B.C. Overlooking the valley created decades ago by pioneers reclaiming land from the majestic KOOTENAY Lake, Creston has long been a favourite place for Bugpop to visit. Cruising the town’s streets on a recent road trip, Bug finds a Street with a view and Pops up his DJI mavic mini for a better view!

    Beautiful! Yep, that's Creston. It has special meaning to me as my Grandmother and Dad lived there, and my sister and niece still do. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend 😀👍

    Well done, Don. Thanks for making it. I have never been to creston to my knowledge. ( in my army days, I went lots of places that I can't remember. We visited the site of the canoe river train crash in 1950. There were many Canadian soldiers enroute to meet sea transport to Korea that died in that crash so it is a place of honer for my regiment. Thanks for the video and the good memory. Take care man. What are they not growing in that valley, must be protected from winter a bit.. Thanks take care....

      It is a special region for sure! Commercial crops of apples cherries peaches etc were grown there for decades. Still a lot grown today. My grandfathers Friends retired to Boswell back in the 70s. They had bought an old Apple Orchard and made it the retirement home. As a child I remember going out to Boswell several times and always enjoyed it so much there because it was so different than Alberta. The summers were hot the scenery was awesome and you could pick fruit from the tree in the backyard.
      My grandfather‘s friend Howard had a boat and he took the whole works of us across the lake from Boswell to a provincial park that is only accessible by boat. It was such an awesome day. The older kids water skied and the rest of us played at the beach. We always end the day by packing everybody into a suburban and driving to Ainsworth Hot Springs. It always included the free ferry ride across Kooteney lake from Crawford day to the Nelson side. always thought it would be nice to live there. Boswell was just up the road from Creston along the east shore of the Kooteney lake. got some video footage that I’ll post at some time so you can check it out!

    Pretty nice footage my friend. I may buy a mavic mini next month and noticed that it sure jumped in price since earlier in the year 😳

      Thanks Viper 6! It’s been a fun little toy! I love to fly when ever I can. I bought mine from amazon. I think it was around 600 or so. I was thinking of the mavic pro2. But you need licence and Reg and all that. So The mini is just 1gram below limit and you don’t need all that. No regrets though some say wind is a problem. The larger ones can handle more conditions and have better functions and cameras but cost 3or 4 times more. I like the sport well enough. I may consider trading up in the future. Right now it is the perfect starter drone for me.

      Mr. Bug Pop yep, I trying to avoid the whole licence issue and I would just use it occasionally and just for fun. I think the mini will be perfect for me. But, if it’s a passion and hobby, the larger drones would suit better.

    I know it is a little late, but watch out for that power line... I nearly flew right into on the other day. wonder if it is covered. ummm... Take care...

    • @MrBugPop
      @MrBugPop  4 года назад +1

      Yes I was very aware of it I had to takeoff and then pilot low to the ground over the edge of the cliff and then on return I landed it on the other side of the powerline. It was very windy there that day so I didn’t go very far or very high but the Vista from just the road was incredible alone. Thanks for watching and commenting Ken I really appreciate your support!

      You were so lucky to grow up there! Beautiful place. My family had friends at Boswell when I was growing up and I remember driving through Creston and being so excited with all the fruit stands and orchards. I often dream of moving to this beautiful part of the country. In the meantime we often take a pilgrimage in the summertime to keep the dream alive!😀 No stores there at all. It is a road that rises up from a residential area and is at the back of some orchards. Beautiful outlook!

      @@MrBugPop that sounds amazing should invite me lol jk wishing my family didn’t sell their home ;( I loved going to the goat river jumping off the bridge while it was aloud or the gourge or how ever u spell it... it was so amazing:(/:)

      @@cckwansteinhuaer3943 We swam at Boswell at the pier and Uncle Howard had a boat so once we went across the lake to the provincial park on the other side of the lake for an afternoon. You can only get their by boat. We would end the day by all of us jumping in a suburban going across the ferry and going to Ainsworth hot springs or going to the glass house. Every trip back to Alberta had to start with a trip to the fruit stands at creston to buy several cases for canning. This was back in the 1970’s so there were a lot more orchards and fruit stands along the road than there are today. Or so my memory tells me! Great times! Obtw. Where do you live now? How long ago did you live at Creston?
