"In the first narrative feature from The Wolfpack director Crystal Moselle, Camille, an introverted teenage skateboarder (newcomer Rachelle Vinberg) from Long Island, meets and befriends an all-girl, New York City-based skateboarding crew called Skate Kitchen. She falls in with the in-crowd, has a falling-out with her mother, and falls for a mysterious skateboarder guy (Jaden Smith), but a relationship with him proves to be trickier to navigate than a kickflip. Writer/director Crystal Moselle immersed herself in the lives of the skater girls and worked closely with them, resulting in the film's authenticity, which combines poetic, atmospheric filmmaking and hypnotic skating sequences. SKATE KITCHEN precisely captures the experience of women in male-dominated spaces and tells a story of a girl who learns the importance of camaraderie and self-discovery."

I just watched this movie, I loved it up until the Jaden Smith plot takes front stage and she breaks with the Skate Kitchen group. I could have watched 9 hours of just this girls hanging out but after that I was just counting the minutes until it ended. Great cinematography and score though (and when the movie is just about the girls it's awesome)

People are being too harsh on this movie because it’s actually an okay movie and the acting is that bad I’m just mad about the ending and most of the plot was pretty boring

The lead Rachelle Vinberg is a real member of Skate Kitchen, she isn't a normal aspiring actress.

That one scene from trailer reminded me of sex talk scene with all girls in bed room from Larry Clark’s kids.

Terrible trailer, but semi-autobiographical and engaging. The acting is pretty natural.

Crystal Moselle once again ruins a movie. Last time out it was 'The Wolfpack', a documentary. This is Moselle's first feature, and poor choices abound.
You may want to take a dramamine as shaky cam prevails. It's a gimmick that doesn't work in this particular film. It has a documentary feel which would have made it more interesting, but it's made as a fictional story, despite all the first-time actors who also ride skateboards. Moselle has that unique ability to taken chicken salad and turn it into chicken excrement.
Go watch 'Minding the Gap'. This is a swing and a miss. Elizabeth Rodriguez stands out like a sore thumb because she's the only one who can act. I really wanted to like this because there aren't enough movies about empowered teenage females, but alas I can't even give it a soft recommendation.

Why is that we have to see teens fighting over boys or girls, get them to fight over something that actually matters because fighting over a girl or boy they like is so boring. I would have them fall out over something like one of them getting hospitalised because of a stupid act.

this movie is so fucking cancer. i tried watching it on netflix and couldn’t get through half of it. it looks like it was shot on an iphone, it’s filled with stock music and you can barely call any of what’s happening on screen “acting” just a big middle finger to skaters

the cinematics and visuals of this movie was great. other than that, the plot and everything had potential, but it was trashy since it was bad acting and shows a bad rep of skaters. there are all types of skaters and I don't think this movie captures it well.

I think it’s not bad I see it mostly as a bunch of teenagers skating and showing their dating life and friendships I mean what else is there to it

Watched the entire film and this is the most boring, cliche, story that I really wish I skipped on. It was so so so unnecessary. I LAUGHED when Jaden Smith popped up on the screen!! Most of the acting wasn’t that good. I don’t recommend this.
