Thanks for the upload! I cherish anytime someone uploads rare performances of The Clark Sisters when Denise was in the group. They all sounded amazing: - The transitions were dope especially the one between Smile God Loves You and You Brought The Sunshine. - It's crazy how tight their harmonies have always been. cause - I mostly hear Denise singing the 1st soprano harmonies in the You Brought the Sunshine vamp but in the other songs it sounds like Karen is singing those harmonies alone. Speaking of the YBTS vamp at @6:28 also it sounds like Dorinda is holding down the middle and Jackie is holding down the bottom, I thought during those times it was the opposite, idk. -Glad to finally hear Denise singing Balm In Gilead she sounded amazing.

@@JamaicanFlavaup until the 2000s Dorinda mainly did the switching between soprano and tenor when Karen and Twinkie lead. When Denise was in the group she mainly switched to tenor. Jacky was the primary alto until the mid 2000s. They still would switch around the One Last Time tour and then she started mainly singing tenor. But over the years they all have switched and sung all 3 parts where it was left open.
It is those moments that continuously solidify her as THE GREATEST AND MOST AWE INSPIRING VOCALIST OF ALL TIME for me. WHO thinks to staccato the riff in such a melodic way like that? Karen Valencia Clark-Sheard that's who.
What separates her from her girls is the way she pronounces her words and her rasp is harder than Dorinda’s and her voice is lower than Dorinda’s. She has a dark color to her voice because she’s a true mezzo where as Dorinda is a soprano with a raspy voice. Dorinda’s voice is very light but with distortion.

Yes it is majority Dorinda singing it, but I can distinctively hear Twinkie come in at 4:18-4:19 saying “God loves you”. Dorinda is saying “I wanna know if you really God Loves You, then all the sisters come in and say “Jesus Loves You”.

Some examples: They sang “Nothing to Lose” at UNAC 1979 (which is now AIM) months before the album came out. They sang Name It, Claim It for the movie “Gospel” (which filmed in 1981, releasing two years later) before it released on the Sincerely album in 82. I hope that clears it up. And also, there was a prototype version of Heart and Soul, but it was called “He’ll Turn Your Scars Into Stars” (1984) with all five sisters. Denise sung Balm In Gilead with Dorinda and Karen I think. It never got released, why, I don’t know.

Their vocals were STELLARS, but you can still hear the rawness in their vocals.
