What's the deal with Dolly forcibly taking Polly, but then grabbing at Popeye and going after her to make sure she and the infant are still in close proximity? Most of the time I see a kidnapping, the kidnapper runs off with the kid and creates distance from the mother, not follow her around.
In this case Dolly is using it to exert her authority. She is demosntrating to the mother that she can take her infant. She is also showing the infant she has rank over her and her mother. Although these monkeys do kidnapped just because the females tend to be very attracted to the infants. Unfortunately for Dolly she took it to the extreme as Amari use to gether the infants around her and teach them that way. Maria the new alpha takes the same approach. This helps them establish loyalty in the troop rather than fear.
Popeye should have tore into that ass and put dolly in her place. Then maybe she would leave her and Polly alone. Same goes for jill. I know dolly"s higher rank but if Popeye wins the fight wouldn't that move popeye up?
This troop doesn't seem to follow the rules. Dolly tried to hurt Lori right in front of her mother. Amari let it go on so long then reminded Dolly who the alpha female was. When Brutus was alive, SP walked around like he was the little prince, holding himself above all of them. When Brutus wasn't around, Amari took great pleasure in disciplining SP. It could be the close contact and constant interaction with humans that has done this. They are pets by any means, yet they are truly wild either.
PE isn't a fighter. She always depended on Brutus or Amari to save her tail. Dolly is a bully that is seldom challenged. The only female that she yields to is Amari (many viewers had high hopes for Jill but those were certainly dashed). I do think PE could get away with fighting back, though. Dolly usually doesn't have to fight. The others back down from her, because of her rank, and she backs down from Amari. Neither Amari or Achap would care if the others did fight back. They know what Dolly is up to. SHE wants to be alpha female, someday. Jill - she was spitfire until she got pregnant. She was another Amari. I think she is afraid Dolly or her monster daughter DD will hurt BJ if she fights.
