    Thanks for the review.... I ordered mine just over two months ago... it is apparently almost here!!! Fingers crossed on the shipper damage. I am up in Canada so once it hits our boarder and gets loaded on the horse wagons the shippers use up here I should have it in a few more months!!! : )

    Just for info, the top on mine is perfectly flat both lengthwise and across, so they are definitely not all warped like yours. Probably more Freight damage. I was fortunate mine had no damage.
    The other USA made lift is HMC also made is Iowa, and they are also a beautiful piece, but really expensive.

      Most is freight damage (which I pointed out to fright company). Slop in lift is 50/50 but the table top and frame were damaged in freight because the lifts do not have sufficient packaging. You are very lucky yours arrived in good shape. Many have commented heaving the same problems. Still the lift arrived damaged, the lift has had slop from new and it’s getting worse, the vise was welded crooked by Handy and it has some other factory quality issues like debris in the powder coat. This should have never arrived like this and it should have been swapped out. I could not afford to wait to months for another lift which could have arrived more damaged. I was told I would be getting a replacement but ended up with a small credit. I should have just refused it when FastWay Freight showed up with the box looking like they ran it over with the truck. Now severe packaging damage gets refused and evens light damaged is refused also. It will not happen again.

    EMP Powersports and Marine... I had the same lift as your new one. I loved mine with the new style lock and the air bag.. My wheel vice was in the center but I did have all of the same damage as yours. Maybe worse.. What good is a Lifetime Warranty if they won't honor it?

    • @emppowersportsandmarine6270
      @emppowersportsandmarine6270  2 года назад +1

      You lift also arrived damaged and Handy did nothing, along with the trucking companies? I’m sorry to hear this. Yes vise was secured to the middle of the lift, lift was in a thin cardboard box on palate. It said use fork lift extensions and do not place freight on top. Of course all fright companies place freight on top, they want to get the trucks as loaded as possible. The slop seems like it’s from the factory and not from freight damage. I bet your lift was damaged the same way. Do you still have it? Handy has never stood behind their products. The lift that I bought 11 years ago arrived with a leaking cylinder and loose wheel from the factory. When I mentioned this to Handy’s the owner Joal’S response was “you have been using it for 10 years and it still works”. When I asked if the slop in my new lift was normal, he refused to answer and dodged by question. Your lifetime warranty with Handy expires the second it leaves the warehouse. Check out K&L Lifts along with Ranger and HMC. We have had good luck with K&L products and will probably stick them moving forward.

      For the short version, do you still have your damaged Handy and how is it working out? I agree with you with the locking system, it’s an improvement. I don’t care for the air bag, its very bouncy. My old lift is much smoother. I’m sure you know this but make sure all air is out of the bag when you unload a bike, especially Harleys. The lift can kick up.

    The entire reason imo to pay the extra for this lift over some of the other "aftermarket" chinese brands is the lift height. At 39", this thing brings the bike up to the "rafters" which can be really really convenient, and the lift can also be effectively used as a nice staging bench when it doesn't have a bike on it. Other than that, your paying more for the Handy as this is their lower grade lift just with a cool way to lift it with an air bag.It's still a tad better but for around a 1000$ you'll get a lot more for your money if you get a different brand. If you're going to use it every day in a commercial environment, there is no substitute for the Handy lift.

    • @emppowersportsandmarine6270
      @emppowersportsandmarine6270  2 года назад

      They use to be a good product but are not what they use to be. From a guy with 23 years in the trade, this lift will not hold up in a commercial shop for more then a few years. Handy makes Junk now and they do not stand behind their products. Buy an HMC (made in Iowa, like Handy) or K&L (made in Korea but currently the best) you can find the K&L on emppowersports.com .

      @@peaceprayer595 it really is a saddening thing, quality down and customer service is horrible. Your lifetime warranty, expired the minute the lifts leave Handy. They use to be the best and they are original motorcycle lifts but are not what they once were. Handy went belly up and was bought out by another company called Janco around 2010. HMC still makes the old style Handy’s. Maybe I will give them a try next, but we have had such a good relationship with K&L, we might buy their products instead. If your looking for a lift, look into HMC and K&L. We are a dealer for the later and can reach out to HMC. A buddy of mine in Iowa warned me but I didn’t listen as I am nostalgic when it comes to Handy lifts

    Are these easy to move around in the shop or do they stay where you set them and they are impossible to move? I’m buying an old handy from a local bike repair shop and hoping it is going to be something I can move around on my own if needed.

    The front clamp appears off-center. Just guessing that another set of bolt holes in the deck could be used to get that front wheel centered on the deck. Odd that the “Made in USA” sticker accompanies an inferior deck? All said, I ‘need’ a removable section of deck, not just a removable panel, in order to skate around side to side without banging my legs on deck corners. Otherwise, likes like a winner!

    Is my 900+ Lbs. Harley going to bend the sheet metal? I was stoked about ordering one of these tables, but now I have reservations. I liked the side extensions because I am hoping to lift my John Deere lawn tractor. Tired of laying on the ground to change blades. I'm probably going to keep shopping.

    • @emppowersportsandmarine6270
      @emppowersportsandmarine6270  2 года назад

      Possibly, the old lifts have thicker sheet metal. This stated I have a 1947 Indian Chief on the new lift and a 2005 Dyna S on the old at the moment. I would be more worried about freight damage. Do not except the lift if there is any damage to it or severe damage to the packaging. Handy does not package the lifts properly and trucking companies do not care about what the box says. They will place freight on top of it which will damage your lift and they usually do not have fork lift extensions which can also damage it. Just check for damage and know the life time warranty expires the second the lift leaves Handy Industries. They have always been horrible with Warranty.

      Handy was top of the line for many decades but was bought out about 10 years ago. They are still made in Iowa and are near $2000. You can get parts but the warranty ends the minute it leaves Handy’s warehouse. I can get you one but recommend the Korean made K&L MC625. They are now the top of the line. You can also check our HMC. We do not carry them but they are a small manufacturer making the old style Handy’s in Iowa.

We do sell K&L Lifts and all other K&L products. We have had good luck with K&L. Their products are good, along with honoring warranties and customer service. We can also look into getting set up with HMC which is the company currently making the old Handy’s. HMC makes a better lift. So does Handy, but it costs more. I do not care for the base model Handy.
    The BOB uses 11gauge steel like the old style Handy tables. HMC and the Handy SAM use 12ga steel for the top. I think HMC does a better job with the under table framework supporting the top, because it feels more stout. My shop has metal.fabrication equipment in the same space, an exposed air bag would be subjected to metal chip puncture hazards. Also don't like the air bag bounciness.
