Fun Fact: That fight (specifically the concept of fighting Kabbu) was originally meant to be in Chapter 5
The entries for Kabbu and Vi's were written for that fight and, once it was scrapped, were repurposed for this one.

I wasn’t fully healed yet I managed to beat her on the first try. I believe Princess (what I named Chompy) took her out or Kabbu took her out

I like how almost every sidequest towards the end of the game ends in fighting for no reason. RPGs are really violent when you think about them in terms of real-world logic.
in that vein, it is very ironic that you gain exploration points by fighting enemies, and not getting discoveries, completing side quests etc. though from a game mechanic view i can see why

This whole game is fantastic. It reminds me of Paper Mario, for sure, but it does so much to stand on its own!
It's the Paper Mario Nintendo will never make again... but BETTER
it definetly has it inspirations. but it turned into something own. Which made this game just so much more enjoyable. I hope it will get a sequel

@@mistymoon8106 20 bucks and it is totally worth it. You get a very high quality game. Presentation and Dialogues are great and the combat system is fantastic. Its a Paper Mario for 20 bucks basically. Cant complain
The mini-bosses were honestly the most fun thing about this game. That and the interactions between the main characters. True the main bosses rarely had the build up of older Paper Mario games but this game makes up for it with a plethora of mini-bosses and secrets behind side quests that are actually fun to do, unlike most of the side quests in the PM games.
The main bosses are cool and all, but the sub-bosses are what got me really excited throughout the game. They require you to strategize by throwing obstacles you wouldn’t expect in your path like completely cutting off your item supply or STRAIGHT UP FIGHTING KABBU!
They’re just great
God, that Astotheles fight caught me off guard. I tried using a Magic Seed and the asshole denied it..

Even funnier, if he’s frozen and you use an item, he will immediately thaw himself out and swat it away. BECAUSE VENUS FORGIVE YOU EVER USE AN ITEM

Technically, Spuder is the _main_ boss of chapter 1. You're just not able to damage him until the rematch.
Even crazier to know that you hear the Wasp battle theme before you hear this one.

Honestly, i’ve seen Vi’s battle animation paired with random songs that aren’t even from the game and it kinda seems to fit with almost everything XD
I truly love this song. It tells you the strength of the opponent you are fighting while also capturing the Bug Fables charm.

@@bluerious5475 not entirely true, closest thing to a boss theme is "Reckless for Glory!", used for all 5 bounties, the broodmother, mother chomper, team maki and team slacker.

It's not the boss's theme that plays while you fight. It's the protagonist's inner soundtrack pumping them up for the fight.

Ok: The wasp theme
The easiest way to beat Monsieur Scarlet is to use less TP early on, then use frigid coffin to delay his buffs. Also use spicy berry on Vi and attack while he’s frozen to get the most out of her multi hit moves. Hope this helps.

@@SuperMarioT I went against him and on my first attempt, he beat me with with little effort. Refought him again on the spot and kept freezing him with Leif at the end of our turn so he couldn't attack/heal. Honestly, it make the fight super easy, I didn't even have to heal once.

Probably because it’s not a mainstream game like Nintendo has.
Personally I usually invest into Nintendo games, but this was a big exception because I really wanted a game like Paper Mario TTYD. But I only discovered a day before Switch release thanks to a review by Arlo.
This game was WAY better than TTYD. And more humorous in my opinion. This game actually makes me wanna play it again unlike TTYD.

I am a GIGANTIC fan of TTYD and love to replay it over amd over again after a few years (so I only vaguely remember the story) but bug fables has a lot of good characters. The game itself plays out really nice amd provides a good challenge in the main game that TTYD not really has. Only small downside for me is the art style. It seems so simple (but this can be a good thing to) and the paper ecstatic is not really there (probably to not be 100% like paper mario) so I do not see this game to be better them TTYD YET. I have to complete it first to k kw for sure but ot is up there as a top game of the genre for sure.

BY FAR the best track on the OST, not even a competition. I was always looking forward to the next miniboss encounter simply because this track is SO DAMN GOOD.
This is up there for me, but best track? That's high praise. My favorite has to be the credits theme, but if that doesn't count, "Team, it's getting serious!" is probably my favorite.
@@aaronstephen3058 my problem with a lot of the tracks on this OST is that they either suffer from a main melody that isn’t very catchy or, more commonly, instruments that sound too cheap. This and a few other tracks are the only ones that are able to transcend these issues imo.
@@shadowpheonix1751 Eh, the instruments managed to sound unique and memorable- possibly because of the numerous times I've listened to those tracks. The Midi trumpet and Techno-like wave has to be my favorites as it accompanies numerous incredibly tracks. In regards of catchy melodies, how haven't you found them!? Cruel Beast, Devourer of Journeys? Castle of Ancient Worship? Oh no! WASPS? Seriously, it's as if you're playing the game at low volume..

I adore this track! Every time I heard it start I would get excited! It's similar to the boss themes of the mario and luigi series, the way it starts fun and lighthearted before becoming more serious and I love it!

The bosses in this game all felt very unique and challenging for the most part and hearing this alongside the minibosses specifically makes me even more pumped to overcome whatever challenge is in front of me
I can't lie, the lick definitely distracted me at first, but man this song is such a banger. I love it! It's also perfect for the spy card game! So fun to listen to.

Excellent theme!
I played the game on hard mode. Each time I fought the first four main bosses, it was a tense and epic battle, as Team Snakemouth survived by the skin of their teeth, until at last they won by the skin of their teeth.
Against Astotheles and Zasp, I died several times, with great frustration.
When you mean to do missions but you just want one more game of Spy Cards.
My strategy to win card games:
1. Use whatever cards until it gets to 6 TP
2. Dead Lander Gamma
3. Profit

Since apparently Moonsprout is working on an RPG with humans in it, it better have equally-as-violent post-game side quests so something similar to this music could start playing as soon as you touch the thermostat.
Never before have I felt such fear as when astotheles broke out of his ice cube through sheer force of will just to be an a-hole

Ironically the hardest miniboss I had to fight was Kabbu, mainly because I just wasn't expecting it and most of my badges were for powering him up.

For me it was the devourer
A combination of being immune to freeze, having what is effectively an instakill move, and being able to fight him well before you have any business doing so would do that. Devourer definitely has the highest kill count on me.
Fuck the Devourer. I had to cheese it with Hard Charge + Ice Rain + Spicy Fries + Last Attack + Power Exchange. Imagine beating it in Chapter 2..

When I discovered you could hold Kabbu’s dash for a prolonged period of time after nearly 100% completion I thought I was just being an idiot until I realized the game was updated 😆
