As a Galatasaray fan I love the fact that our logo is so incredibly minimalistic that you literally can't simplify it further anyways. It was perfect then, it's perfect now. Sometimes you'll see eager young designers have a go at re-imagining it, usually by adding superfluous details and wacky contortions of the letters G&S, but they never come even close to looking as elegant.
Many changes in recent years have been done because it transpired that the crests used by years were never trademarked - Arsenal's simplified badge from 20 years or Portsmouth's very slight change which was recently adopted was because the old designs could be used by anyone.

In the context of the Bavarian empire being dissolved less than 20 years before the 3rd reich and one of the goals of the 3rd reich being to bring Germany and German areas back as one in the way of the old German empire it makes sense to change the logo then, Bayern Munich is the only club in Germany that represents a whole area rather than a city, an area might I add who’s had separation movements, Bavarians are more than happy to tell you they’re Bavarian before they are German
