- Hi, Happy to see you here. Today in this video I am going to upgrade an old laptop from #compaqPresario #CQ61. There is no M.2 SSD Slot, so SATA SSD is the only option. But this is good enough to make the entire laptop faster than ever. And after installing #SSD i am going to enable USB boot from bios and install Windows 10 in it. So let's do it.

Excellent Job! Mine got a Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 originally and i upgraded it to Core 2 Extreme X9100. The fan is quite noisy tho. I also upgraded the hdd to an sshd for faster boot time just like you did, but the cpu performance is not quite on par with other modern devices so i dont bother investing on a new ssd for this machine, afterall its a old device from 2009

oh yeah i got one of those. installed a new SSD, got linux installed and it's running quite good, i can even play some light games on it like gmod and terraria

I have same cq61 and I did the sam thing you did but I am stucked on missing driver page on installation, do you have any idea how to solve? (I made the usb boot thru rufus)

I have got CQ61 120-ET and I tried to install Samsung Evo 850 gb. Unfortunately, bios doesn't recognize the drive. I performed a Primary HD Self Test and it says "it passed". But with no luck, bios still doesn't recognize.
I have the latest Samsung firmware. I tried to update the bios on laptop but couldn't find the right one. Any clues?

Which SSD you used ?
I got one of these for Christmas 09 and kept it until 2017. By then it was completely cooked. I put a new ssd and new ram and it didn’t help. It ran very hot and slow. I think it needed thermal paste or something. I knew if I tried to take it apart to do that id end up breaking it so I just went ahead and recycled it. I miss it.
It is not that difficult if you follow step by step you can do that i guess. Thanks

SSD действительно даёт прирост производительности, но всё равно, Windows 10 для него это слишком. Я оставил Windows 7.
