The closed mouth bugs the hell outta me lol. Like why sculpt him like that? Reminds me of ThreeZero's Kaiman where his mouth is closed and in every screenshot and manga page from the series he's showing teeth. The rough skin is a nice touch though
My take on this. I have both PVc and Resin I rather receive pvc with factory defect than Resin with defect and regret the amount of money that you spend on a resin. A good example is the newly released maximum Big Mom from MH. Can compete with resin.
Other than the closed mouth and the overbite, I feel like the pose on the resin looks more natural. Something about the pose on the MH one bothers me til this day haha. I hope they update their greymon someday like they did garurumon.
resin looks uncanny and like 99% of the studios are obsessed with adding texture to it, kinda like some ichiban prize figure. Tbh in anime character it looks weird, I know they wanna make them look realistic but it's making an actual disservice to it. I remember seeing some Gear 5 Luffy Nika resins having a lot of texture on his clothes and his joints being normal, it doesn't feel like Gear 5 but instead regular Luffy cosplaying as gear 5. looks weird Also Megahouse shading on PVC will never be surpassed by resin studios
Yea the texture can take away from the character sometimes when it's over done... 😅 Maybe it's mainly the unlicensed studios but some of my Jimei pieces have amazing paint work! 😄
Just got back into collecting figures. Been buying a bunch of collectors edition games for their figures, persona 3, Tekken 8 and so forth. But I'm now thinking about getting onto resin statues.
i haven't gotten a resin figure yet, but i think i'd probably only prefer resin for very special characters to me. i rlly enjoy prize figures personally, and those are quite inexpensive, so it takes a good pose and sculpt to catch my eye for scale or resin figures. thanks for the giveaway btw!
I've recently begun looking into resins and personally I prefer the designs that resin studios come up with compared to PVC. For example I wanted to buy a Yamato figure but the ones that are currently out for the PVC side don't look that good. However, the resin statues for Yamato look amazing especially the one Zuoban Studio is making.
Thank you for the video. I've found myself struggling on the past to decide between buying a PVC figure or saving up for a resin one, i knew of the unlicensed resin market beforehand but was unsure wether or not it was safe
I feel like the blues on the MH one look much better compared to the resin. Also, MH did shading on the nails of the feet too! That said, the precious Botamon included with the resin was a nice touch~ (should've added Koromon too 😆)
@@DTTCReviews Did you saw that Megahouse held a vote to see which POP Max gets a rerelease when they revealed the POP Max Marineford Ace and Luffy? Fingers crossed it's Jinbe 🤞
Fun vid as always. Your contests are always fun. I made sure to like, comment etc. (I am already subscribed being a fan of your content for a while now.) Keep up the great work! 😎
They are cute together. I do like the texture to the resin for sure and although I don't mind the overbite, I like the look to the PVC overall. I am always checking out resins, but don't have one yet. I do have my eye on one currently though.
@@DTTCReviews Yes indeed! So that figure suits him the best hehehe. One of the best faces for Gray, don't know why his style is hard to capture...and I love that it's a 1/6 scale, so he will go decently well with bunny JUVIA
My preference is Licensed Polystone>Scale PVC>Unlicensed Resin>Prize PVC. That said, a lot of unlicensed pieces can be better then PVC if its a great studio, but some unlicensed studios can be pretty bad. The box space for resins is a sin against humanity, as are the shipping costs nowadays. I also think paint looks softer and more natural for human characters on PVC in general, but its hard for PVC to compete with sculpt detail on resins due to the harder material. Last because resin and polystone is harder it is also more brittle and more prone to breaks, no way around it.
Hi Derek for orzgk what shipping method did u use and how long it takes. I ordered from them and wondering if i should consider boat sea options which is significantly cheaper or air.
I love resin figures so much but i can only afford pvc replicas. My question is how long should i wait before they make replicas? From what i observed they make replicas after 3-4 years when the resin figure is phased out.
I dont have a resin statue but i want to get one. I was looking at the site through your link and i saw one i really wanted unfortunately the pre orders were closed :(
I just watched the whole video and I am unclear which one is PVC and which one is resin. rather than refer to each with the words resin and PVC, you keep saying the company name. this video has only left me still confused.
Ok. Thanks. So the bigger one is PVC? Wow. The video game Ori has a statue coming out and there is a PVC version and a resin version. The resin is crazy expensive, but much more detailed. I might go for it. Thanks!
WoW! Wow! Wow! This resin figure was done really well. I like that they have their own pros and cons instead of feeling its exactly the same. It always comes down to price and details for me so either would work but shipping for resin still puts me on edge since reviewers mostly say they're hefty and weight = more shipping costs. 🥲

In terms of collecting I prefer PVC just for space and cost but sometimes a resin can really be a piece of art
True true! Wish resin boxes were smaller 😅
i like the texture on the resin one, really adds to the aesthetic
Makes it feel like actual skin! 😂

Haha yea, dealing with resin defects is infinitely harder than pvc! 😅 Luckily I haven't had those issues with my resins yet tho... 😎
Thank you for sharing, I hope more and more people will be fascinated by resin statues!!🥰🥰
Glad I could help shed some light on the differences and thanks for helping me host this giveaway! 😄
Other than the closed mouth and the overbite, I feel like the pose on the resin looks more natural. Something about the pose on the MH one bothers me til this day haha. I hope they update their greymon someday like they did garurumon.
Haha I hope they give us a version 2 of Greymon too! Maybe a resting one to match the first Garurumon? 🤔
Only started figure collecting last year and have never bought a resin statue before so this was cool to see!
Once you open the resin pandora's box you'll never go back! 😅

Resins all the way for me. If you pick the right studio, it'll blow all PVC figs out of the water.
Haha very true, it's super dependent on the right studio! 😁
the texture work resins typically do is very nice, but as far as I know they're also usually heavier than PVC, right?
I'd say it's 50/50? I've had some resins that weigh even less than their pvc counterparts... 🤷♂️
Just got back into collecting figures. Been buying a bunch of collectors edition games for their figures, persona 3, Tekken 8 and so forth. But I'm now thinking about getting onto resin statues.
Welcome back to the hobby! Video game resins are some of the best I've seen and there's so many good options! 😆

Haha yea, saving a resin slot for a special character is how I started too! Happy to give back and good luck! 😉
Where is that Franky figure from in the background? It looks so shiny and amazing
That's the Portrait of Pirates Sailing Again Maximum Franky from Megahouse! 😁

One Piece resins go really hard! 😆 If I had more space I'd grab a few more of them too!
Thank you for the video. I've found myself struggling on the past to decide between buying a PVC figure or saving up for a resin one, i knew of the unlicensed resin market beforehand but was unsure wether or not it was safe

Haha it's all in the details! I'm pretty sure the other Miman resins have Koromon and others as bonuses... 🤔
It depends on the character I want a figure of. Like resin pokemon figures are really cute!
100% agree, I love most of the Pokémon resin options out there... 😆
@@DTTCReviews I love it when they have a bunch of pokemon in one figure. My kids want me to get one!
@wardystudios688 I can't wait to get my first Pokémon Family resin in too! 😆 They're so much fun!
Resins are a great alternative to aftermarket prices licensed PVC figures. I usually shop both since both sides has its pros and cons
Need to save our hard-earned moneys somehow! 😆
@@DTTCReviews Yeah! I'm heavily considering a Resin Jinbe as an alternative to the POP Max Jinbe, the aftermarket prices are insane 😭
@PressA513 Yea, his aftermarket prices are similar to licensed resin statue prices... I'll probably wait to see how Jimei handles things tho! 😆

I have 3 Resin figures because they're characters that no one has ever manufactured, or the existing figures weren't to my taste.
That's a great option! Reminds me of Violet Evergarden figures... 😢
The resin one looks really good! ♡ I love the structure and details of it. :3
The horns were super sharp too! 😆

Lmao a sin against humanity! 🤣 Couldn't agree more with that statement!
Megahouse is having a poll to decide which P.O.P maximum figure they will re-release, I vote jinbei
Hoping he does get re-released and not Kaido... 😅 Need to add Jinbei to the crew desperately! 😬
The resin one looks good! But the PVC wins in this battle 😎.
Kekeke 😆
Hi Derek for orzgk what shipping method did u use and how long it takes. I ordered from them and wondering if i should consider boat sea options which is significantly cheaper or air.
Hey, the shipping was via air and took about a week to arrive. The sea option will be much cheaper than air but can take up to 3 months to arrive. 😄
I love resin figures so much but i can only afford pvc replicas. My question is how long should i wait before they make replicas? From what i observed they make replicas after 3-4 years when the resin figure is phased out.
Honestly there's no real timetable when it comes to the pvc recasts, could be super quick or like you said years... 😅
I like the quality of resin more for non-humanoid figures. I would be interested in a resin Machinedramon if a decent one existed.
I think Miman announced one recently! I know for sure there's a Megahouse one coming soon too! 😆
