Thank you for a great episode! Thank you for highlighting Eve‘s role and clearing up some of the misconceptions sadly still so many faithful Christians have concerning this.
I really appreciate your continuing to help open up the doctrine of the scriptures, the symbols and plan of our wise and all knowing Father. Especially the temple.
Wow really appreciated your analogy with the family and driving the car. It helped answer a question that I've had for years concerning the endowment and Satan's remarks and what was meant by that. You guys are awesome! I love knowledge and spiritually growing. Thanks for your help and facilitating another means by which the Spirit can testify and teach!
I don’t believe that the commandment to not partake of the fruit was temporary. I’ve struggled with the conflicting commandments my whole life and recently received insight and inspiration on this. I believe that there was only one plan..No if/or. It had to be a sin in order for them to fall. God had to command them and they HAD to break it in order to fall from His presence. Eve knew it was the ONLY way. Maybe it’s oversimplified but it gave me comfort. Thanks for your amazing podcasts! I always feel the spirit and am inspired 💕
I agree! Many prophets have taught that Eve, and Adam did exactly what they were supposed to do... They "partook" of the fruit and , therefore, partook of Mortality (and opened the door for all of us to come to Mortality)
I agree with your insights Holly, but it was still a temporary law versus an eternal law to multiply and replenish the earth. It was necessary and had to happen, but it was still a situation of doing something that had temporary consequences in order to obey one with eternal consequences. Great thoughts!
I have recently been thinking that it is an essential part of my salvation to understand the difference between good and evil. I think symbolically I also have to partake of that fruit in order to progress in the plan of salvation. We are very used to thinking that Christ vicariously performed the atonement for all of us, so we could accept it and be saved. What if Adam and Eve vicariously fell so we could accept it and progress?
I got a bit lost with this podcast. I need to re-listen and couple it with the temple experience. Thanks for the challenge to stretching of my understanding
Ephesians 5:23-24 would be instructive in the context of Husband and wife positions! I had vision kneeling before Christ and when she came forward she stated and pointed to me saying “He’s my husband and my head” and Lord allowed her to touch my shoulder and she too, engulfed in His light as He instructed me to “Stand up”! The structure in Ephesians should be the mirror ❤ VANA
Just a thought, could the creation of Eve from Adams' rib the Lord's way to accentuate man and woman are to preside side by side, no hierarchy but equal partners. Also perhaps for women, for me, enduring the pains of childbirth is a similitude of Christ suffering on the Cross for the children of men knowing the immeasurable joy that awaits. Childbirth becomes an expression of gratitude for His sacrifice, willingness to endure, nurture and teach our children His ways that The Plan may be fulfilled. Thus we truly become pro-creators with God.
So many books, so little time…Kelly many books that are referenced are in the footnotes of the Show Notes. That being said, not all books are created equally. I (Mike) do have a list of book recommendations here: www.ldsscriptureteachings.org/2019/11/25/books-i-recommend/ If you are looking for Old Testament helps, make sure to click the link for OT books:www.ldsscriptureteachings.org/2020/04/16/old-testament-books-i-recommend/ Also note that just because a book appears on the top of the list, it is not necessarily the top recommendation. Don't pay attention to the order in which these books appear. I will also add that at the time of me writing this, that several of Nahum Sarna's works are not on this list, and right now I am really enjoying his JPS Torah Commentary on Genesis. So this list is always being emended, as I am continually trying to learn more. Sarna's JPS Genesis Commentary is here: www.abebooks.com/JPS-Torah-Commentary-Genesis-Sarna-Nahum/31099556083/bd?cm_mmc=ggl-_-US_Shopp_Trade-20to50-_-product_id=COM9780827603264USED-_-keyword=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAi9mPBhCJARIsAHchl1zWceSG3gNs2C70FBmlgOzdLnag21AWy-jnsk56sWQNNJakrGYGayQaAuf_EALw_wcB
I wonder why Eve was not in the picture when the explanation of the trees was given? She had not been put in the garden yet but she was the one who partook first. Its just a thought 🤷♀️.... and who was the 'other commentator' please? I really like how President Joseph Fielding Smith explained the opposing commandments.
The literal Hebrew says, "He shall rule in you." ("In" not "over") This implies woman surrounds man who rules inside her influence as in the procreative act.
Incredible lesson is incredible inside it's really cleared up a lot of disconnects that I've had and questions over the years.... I've had isolated concepts but didn't know how to put them together
I appreciated your comments about the symbolic opposites in abet, shamar, and the temple symbols (menorah, the arc, the water, etc.) However I disagree with your interpretation of the phrase "compounds in one" found in 2 Nephi 2:11. If I understood correctly you said that all things would be a compound in one if there were no opposition. I don't think that is what 2 Nephi 2:11 is saying. To me, It is saying the opposite. Because of oppositions and the Atonement, there can be compounds of opposites made perfect as one. A Compound in one is the goal of creation--to make a united compound out of opposites. You can mix flour and sugar as a compound but until you add water (love) that changes the nature of the flour and sugar you don't get a united compound in one. In 2 Nephi 2:11 the phrase "must needs" is repeated three times, associated with opposition, a compound in one, and death. It's the one body that must needs remain as dead. To be alive "all things" must experience opposition in order to act and create a compound in one. "Wherefore ALL THINGS (like opposition) must needs be a compound in one.

Competition for the limelight is the major difference between the two teams. Makes sense! Good point.
So many gems!!!

I think if having a baby was not painful, and uncomfortable. People wouldn't see children as the precious gifts that they are.
Duct tape might’ve done the trick on your favorite club 😜
Duct tape fixes almost everything.
