  • The 767 is rather rare on inner EU routes. British still flies some and then there are some charter airlines. Scheduled service is rather rare. Austrian Airlines operates it's widebody fleet once in a while to Frankfurt, rarely to Zurich, Dusseldorf and even Berlin. In any case a 767 is way more welcome than the standard A320/737 pain that is filling up the skies.
Austrian Airlines is still, even if they became a bit more "low cost", a real airline and not a flying bus company. For very competitive fares passengers get full service, including alcoholic beverages, as well as a small snack on short hops.
Yes, we enthusiasts still miss the one- hour- hops with hot meal choices, goodies and classic airliners. In any case flying can still be celebrated aboard this very professional airline. It is even way more fun to do so aboard Boeings smart 767 jet aircraft.
OS operates a fleet of 6 767, all powered by Pratt engines, giving them a very distinct sound, especially during taxi. The planes are still a left over of former Lauda Air. Meanwhile the cabin has run through several modifications and is now even equipped with a Premium Ecco. It is no secret to us enthusiasts that the real luxury jet is not the 787 or A380, it is the 767 with it's generous 2-3-2 seating, making it by far the most comfortable long range jet out there.
Hopefully flying will remain as attractive as this flight was, with a great crew and a wonderful aircraft!
