- Fedora 37 and Zorin OS 16.2 are the hottest releases of this year-end, and if you're wondering which of these to install, you're not alone. Fedora and Zorin could not be further away from each other. They have completely different origins, different bases, and different package managers and they both provide completely different experiences. But they both are remarkable at what they do.

Fedora 37 rolled out recently and I was wondering how Fedora has improved so much in the last few versions. Fedora has brought significant upgrades in almost all aspects. The user interface, performance, this distribution has upped the game in every way possible.
At the same time, Zorin OS too has released a new version. Zorin OS 16.2 is now out and honestly it's on a completely new level. Zorin OS is one of the best-operating systems out there. Period. It has stunning features and provides a refined user experience. Zorin OS is the premier Linux distribution today.
You are best Linux tutor. 😇😇
Thank you so much Tanishk.
@@LinuxTex q: did you look at Core or Pro? Pro is $39: that's why I'm asking.
Mint and Zorin are the 2 best for people switching from Windows
don't forget Pop os too, it's probably one of the best for gaming and working
@@arhamazharraiyan7147 you can game even on enterprise distro. The thing is, simply, beginner users and advanced users. For beginner users, best choice is Mint. Be careful with the snap store and their faulty repositories.
I started using Linux as my daily driver since end of May. I use Ubuntu 22.04 on my new gaming laptop and mint on my older laptop. Both are great but mint is fun for desktop customisation, so I customised the theme to make it look like windows XP 😂😂
I'd love to see more of these! Really helps me understand what makes each distro functionally different, not just in design.
I just wish ZorinOS gets more version updates every year, newer Gnome or even a DE of its own, it's a distro with a lot of potential and user census is something all Distros should have.
Which gnome version does it currently use?
Don´t really need update to DE. But kernel update would be cool than running ubuntu lts.
@@youtube.user.1234 3.38 which is too old
@@yehiazaglol6170 Too old for what? In my experience, Zorin OS is smooth as butter to use. It's fast and stable and has a pleasant aesthetic. I think Zorin OS is geared towards users that want things to work right out of the box. Users that are interested in tinkering, customizing and experimenting have plenty of other options that are more suited for that.
@@thomasandresen8373having gnome 3.38 and the latest version is 43 is pretty old ,and everything works out of the box is a great feature for you, it is called bloat from a Linux expert perspective , if it is working great for you then use it until it is not because when you start to understand Linux more you will know that it sucks
I began my Linux journey about 3 years ago. I searched all over RUclips for the help I needed, then I found your channel. I am 53 years old and pretty stubborn but I love to learn new things. During the pandemic I began taking apart old laptop hardware and upgrading it. I heard of Linux through some friends and it was a great way to try an Open Source Os on the builds. Linux Tex has helped me through all of my attemps and I learned so much from your channel. Thank you for your content. My daily driver is ZorinOs.
I've been using Linux since 2000, I've tested almost all distributions, each of them has its pros and cons, unfortunately I haven't found the ideal yet, but I completely disagree with this video. Yes, ZorinOS is good for transitioning from Windows OS to Linux, but nothing more. Experienced users will only laugh at ZorinOS, although this OS undeniably has its advantages. Fedora certainly has more advantages, but to understand them requires knowledge, some experience and an understanding of Linux.
@@Susis71 exactly
@@Susis71 Not everyone wants to be a Linux geek, they just want to use their computer. ZorinOS looks to be perfect for that new linux user. Me, I use Mint w/Cinnamon, but that's my preference.
Truly love your channel, Linux Tex!
Zorin OS é excelente! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolutely, in my opinion, it is the premier Linux distribution right now
Moved from Zorin OS to Fedora 37. Zorin is arguably the best looking distro out of the box, alongside Manjaro. The only reason I moved out was that zorin has a slow update cycle which bothers a nerd like me especially when fedora offers you the latest and greatest of everything and it is extremely smooth as well.
I am thinking of switching to fedora now I am using zorin for 3 weeks I have no issues with it and I am loving it but still I think I am going to switch.
2022 is the year of the Desktop Linux. Switch from Windows
I use arch, btw
For me, absolutely Fedora 37 is the best
Zorin's version of Gnome 3.38 is old for it's current October release 16.2.. How long before they jump up to Gnome 43 ? another year ??
Thank You - I tried both on VM's. Will recommend Zorin to my new user brother in law and and dual boot both on my main machine.
Switching from Zorin to Fedora and never look back. Fedora is the best in my opinion, everything just works. Very stable yet flexible for me as web developer.
Is it good in performance?
@@aeooaytrrqiddahacxapiwtatoowyw In my case as a web developer, yes.
I've heard , Nobara is better than Fedora.
fedora is good but zorin my favorite. stable, light, fast, simple n look very sweet.
For me it's still leap 15.4, but if I have to choose between these two, I'll go with Zorin👍
Opensuse is the Best!
I want to switch to Fedora, but I heard they removed some codecs, which I need in some cases. Is there a way to get them in a simple command on Fedora?
if you are using Nvidia you wouldn't get affected.
I have been using fedora for as long as i can remember and you do have to install codecs yourself but it has never been difficult. They show how to do it in fedora docs, it's. A copy paste terminal command. Or you can install them from fedora software store pretty easily. There's nothing complicated about it
@@mojtabanow really? thanks buddy I have a Nvidia GPU in my laptop I will install fedora now🙏
tbh I'd rather not have snap
Very useful info, thank you. I did subscribe which frankly I very seldom do. You clearly know what you are doing and you don't confuse or talk down to your viewers. I am looking forward to going though your archives when I get some time.
Thank you very much Robert. I'm glad to see your comment.
I just got Zorin OS installed through VM Machine. I like it so far. I learned to use Linux through VM Machine so that I don't have to worry about Audio Issues.
Happy Zorin user here.
Perfect distros.
I use zorin on the Laptop of my girlfriend, because windows makes everything super slow and I use on my gaming rig nobara for gaming and daily workflows
Lol one of the best🤣. Should've said beginner/Windows friendly. Gd comparison btw
In Fedora, I can't record my desktop by my Nvidia card but in Zorin 16, it works perfectly.
I am a new zorin user, and its amazing and easy to use.
A question, can you, let's say, live without ever using Windows? or is there always something that is necessary? It's a question I've had for a long time.
Use 100% Linux, otherwise I don't see much sense
That's what I was searching for ♥️
Hope you enjoyed it Ayush
I think I'll just use both...
You cannot compare them. Zorin is based on 20.04 lts with an old kernel. Zorin is leading edge distro with the newest kernel. Zorin is a beatiful distro. i bought the pro version. But Zorin need more updates.
What about you view on Ubuntu....I want to know which is the best Ubuntu or fedora or zorin
Zorin is a modified Ubuntu, so go ahead with zorin first
@@merieedgegaming7621 Yeah I did have the experience ..basically I don't like win 7 so ..I felt zorin and mint are the ubuntu with win 7 launcher then i moved to wayland ubuntu(no LTS) and now I'm encountering a massive bug hunt..so I need to know how efficient in in these software and which have the greatest LTS support along with with the best look and feel
@@merieedgegaming7621 and also Linux don't have some app support , we need to use the wine to fake the environment thats also too bad.
@@aswinmanmathans6837 you dont need to install windows apps on linux , 99% of the time there is an open source alternative, also treating linux like it is windows is not ideal, linux is just another os with its apps,
@@aswinmanmathans6837 also i think using something like fedora is acually better than an LTS because you will have faster updates which means more bug fixes more features and a better experience in general .
I like the idea of zorin os trying to make Linux accessible for beginners but having a very old gnome version is unacceptable
is having an older version of gnome that bad? Why? (i'm a noob)
@@randomdude7812 not necessary bad but it is lacking behind in a lot of ways. for a new user I highly recommend Linux mint it is a really great distro
I use Zorin Core + Chrome. Makes switching from Windows easy. Anyone can sit down at one of my computers and use it. I don't really intend to become a Linux hobbyist.
For me, Fedora 37 with kde plasma is better than ZorinOs.... Thank you, good channel!!!
I tried to install Fedora and it cant cope with my multi monitors during install so Im sure not going to try a full install. Works great in a VM though.
I want to know how both perform on battery life, because it can make me change my distribution
I am using a laptop and I want to extend my battery life , I am using fedora at the moment and the battery lasts about 3 hours on working , while on windows it lasts longer .
I heard a lot of things I can do but I am searching for a distro for better battery life out of the box
I can only echo the other positive reviews here for your channel! Very well done again!
Your videos are always straight to the point and full of great information. You really provide a fantastic resource here!
Thanks!🙏🙏🙏
I have Zorin OS and, whilst it is OK, I'd like to know what makes it "the best OS"?
For context, I use Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, iOS and Android.
using zorin os is basically paying money for bloatware on ubuntu. get fedora, specifically nobara
kkkkkkk fedora is crap. i stey in zorin. MUCH BETTER UX/UI. fedora, ubuntu debian mint, all crap UX/UI
@@iaia5368 LMFAO LINUX NOOB!!!! u can get zorin ui in any distro, you can get fedora ui in any distro, you know nothing about linux. bro hasnt even touched terminal before. good luck using 3 yr old versions of apps! bro doesnt even know what hes saying. what a mfer.
@@iaia5368 so gnome 3.38 has better ux/ui than gnome 43 , interesting ?
Zorin vs OpenSUSE what would be the winner ?
Fedora is not for Normal user or office use, Zorin is.
I love your videos sir! I am a newbie snd you are so clear and the visuals are so great!
Cool Video! What is the name of the game on minute 9:55?
gnome vs gnome 😑
is there any distro for bios programming of led tv's???
Imagine the combination of zorin and fedora
Nice Presentation Sir.
Fedora 37 is my daily driver at this point. It took a little bit of setup in starting
Installing gnome tweak and extension
Dock
Blur my shell
Nvidia drivers
But after that it is a super stable system far more stable and reliable than my windows 10.
And yeah I've started with Zorin OS and simply switched to Fedora because I like stock gnome quite a bit more than zorin.
I use Fedora for study, word processing ( in some cases libre office is better), watching videos and playing some games (CS GO, GTA 4, Rise of the tomb raider) mostly on steam and pcsx2 cause PS2 was my childhood.
.
For a newcomer i would recommend Zorin, Mint or Pop os. They are stable as rock😅.
Would it be a good decision to move from mint to Fedora?
@@merieedgegaming7621 if you are used to ease of access in linux mint or if you were a prior windows user then I would say stick with mint. Performance wise there is no difference at all they both perform identical.
stock gnome of Fedora might feel too minimalist for some regular task like for creating desktop icon you need to have a gnome extension
Nvidia drivers and codec needs to be installed manually
rpm fusion needs to be enable.
so for beginners and windows user linux mint is probably the best.
Fedora is good but you need to tweak a little bit to get started. But after that it is rock solid
And they both are super stable mint is more but after all they all are Linux.
Only two things Fedora 37 offers over mint is the latest package and kernals other than that it is just the difference of desktop environments.
Nobara
ZorinOS is a cheap knockoff of Ubuntu, better yet LinuxMint. Fedora is a very stable system, and 13-month support is not a problem, because you can upgrade to a newer version without any risks and problems (no need to reinstall the system, unfortunately, this cannot be said for Ubuntu-based systems).
77 Th like from me
How about Fedora KDE?
I completely disagree with the comparison of ZorinOS and Fedora in this video. Video without facts and real tests, purely subjective vision. If I wanted to single out an OS, then almost any Linux distribution could be singled out as the best this way.
What's your opinion?
@@merieedgegaming7621 My opinion is that if Zorin OS cannot be compared to Fedora. If you compare Fedora, then with Debian or in the worst case with Ubuntu. Zorin OS is just a slight modification of Ubuntu. There are six giants in the Linux environment: Debian, RedHat (actually now Fedora), Suse (actually now OpenSuse), Arch, Gentoo, Slackware. Then you need to compare them with each other (RedHat and Suse are very similar in philosophy). Yes, there are also new perspective distributions that are independent, like Solus, this can also be compared, but you don't need to compare the Ubuntu fork, which in turn is a Debian fork.
It is not possible to compare the available software for these two Linux distributions, which are subject to two different legislations (Fedora - USA, Zorin OS - Ireland). It is the legislation that limits the inclusion of different packages in Fedora software, but you can always add the repositories you need.
There are still many inaccurate or intentionally speculative comparisons in favor of Zorin OS in this benchmark, but I cannot describe them all here.
I think fedora based Nobara os is the best linux distro u should try and make a video on nobara
yeah it is awesome but i think sticking to the main stream fedora is much better and nobara is not ready yet
Garuda vs popos
#LinuxTex can you tell me can I install nvidia drivers without going into boot loop after reboot and to run system you have to boot into system setup trough grub and then fix all errors and then boot into system like in Mint?? And did they fix screen scaling on 4k TV trough HDMI??
Disable secure boot and uninstall/ unload secure boot keys in your bios setting and uefi mode set to other os instead of windows uefi. I'm on 1080p so I can't help you with screen scaling but for the reboot loop that works for me.. or you can try pop os that works best with Nvidia
@@arpitsrivastava4660 Thx but I know how to install linux ;)
Personally, I see the "massive" availability of just about any app or package in the Zorin environment a recipe for disaster. IMHO, of course.
Why? Do you fear they won't be stable?
yes, his repository is .... fedora>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>zorin for developers
👍👍
Fedora - rubbish! Zorin - the best OS in the world!
Zorin has paid versions though so I say Fedora 37 wins by default
I like Zorin. However, I never liked the logo. To me it is ugly and not in any way right for such a good distro.
None if them! Ubuntu is the best distro in 2022.
There is no comparison
