Haven’t used the aux port in ages, but from what I remember you could use it one of tew ways: 1. It could be used to connect to the console port on another device. So this would allow you to move between multiple device from just one connection. 2. You could connect it to a dial-up modem. And it would dial out to establish a console connection. BRI is just a type of ISDN connection used for the WAN side of the router. 😊
I have that Cisco 1700, pretty useless now because the only module besides the BRI interface you can upgrade to is a 10BaseT .... I ended up setting up pfSense on a VM instead of upgrading to a new router for my lab...
On most routers you should have a WAN port (on Cisco it has a blue outline) and a LAN port (yellow outline). The WAN connects to the internet service. The LAN connects to your computers (usually to a switch first). Hope that helps. 🙂

Hello a query I have a cisco 1721 router and the front led ok does not stop blinking, the router fan does not turn on. The router has no dram memory. I have seen the manual and there is no error that I have, because the led ok blinks all the time, and the fan does not run, that could be the error, help me please
Julio, sorry I don't know enough to diagnose your problem. I will say that if the fan isn't running when you first plug in the power, that's a bad sign. Good luck with getting that figured out sir. :)
I'm a programmer and I'm pretty good at networking and wiring telephone/cable lines in my house. I was looking into the field of a AT&T or other telecom/isp technician. what are the benefits? and how much would I get payed? Thank you.
hi Dylan. that pay varies widely and location plays a big part. Say at the bottom level, a beginner in Nebraska might earn $10. to start where as that same person in San Jose CA or Manhattan might make $20/hr or more! And, vendor certifications make a big difference (i.e. CCNA, MCSE,) But, in very general terms. Most beginners without a degree can usually be in the $13-$20 within the first year if they show initiative. An Intermediate tech who can go to customer locations alone is worth about $20-30 hr (again, location makes a big difference) Someone with more than 10yrs experience who's really good a customer-facing situations is worth $65k per year or more. Pay rates of 6-figures per year are not unheard of for seasoned techs who can demonstrate a history of producing results. +DIY Telecom You,sir, are getting a subscriber and a 'like'. I've been looking everywhere for someone to simply explain the router interface and cable ports. Most videos are just about what routers do and not how they physically look. Thank you. Do you have similar video for switches? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Glad to help. I love helping people fix problems and learn new things. :)
I am very grateful to you. Very informative. Your explanation is very well.
Wonderful feedback. Glad I could help. 😊
What a great video. Thank you Sir.
Very informative sir, I would like to see a lot more video from you !

Thank you. Very helpful!
Thanks Rodrigo! My pleasure to help :-)

how many ports does the cisco router have?
Really varies on the model. But st a minimum, it must have at least two to be a router.
