My first plane was a cub beginner plane that surprisingly flew well without any type of rudder, elevator or aileron’s but the wind turned out to be the little planes demise as the wind picked up and flew the plane onto the top of the highest tree in the field
So no rudder, elevator, or ailerons.... So how'd it fly with no control surfaces? Literally imposssible for a highwing cub unless it had 3 different motors that used torque vectoring maybe. I love the story but it needs to be a least a little believable if your trying to garner true interest in what your saying. Ok son?
THE PROBLEM IS ACTUALLY with the Gyro/Stabilization system intermittently giving full left rudder lock and if not high enough to recover will take you DOWN! I've actually tested it on the bench and was able to make it happen!
I had the same full rudder lock. Should have been a 3 channel. I glued the rudder straight, Cut horizontal along lowest vane,to isolate the rudder and rear gear,to be able to taxi. Made it work, Now it flies great! But the paint sucks too.
On Brian Phillips channel, he moved the position of the servo rod where it attaches to the rudder, watch his review , the linkage comes stock attached to the wrong hole
i have the j3 cub its okay but needs lots of space like you said i also brought the other plane you had in the vidio and is way better with detachable prop
My wife bought me one of these. I felt so bad for her because she thought she was "doing me a solid". I let her down easy and went and bought a whole new electronics package. Have not messed with it yet but, it is a beautiful little airplane. Once i completely change the electronics it should be fine.
This version of XK A160-J3 known to have a problematic algo on the controller board (gyro algorithm). As I understand, recently XK released a new version of the controller board as replacement parts, which shall be corrected the gyro algorithm issue
Yeah, do need to contact the Wltoys official store.. meanwhile, I also don't have the official link for the replacement control board.. as my replacement board was given by the manufacturer official store after I contacted them.
The way you fly the p-51 or whatever it is I can fly the cub just as well and even with the cheap transmitter I can fly inverted. Take undercarriage off and add 8-10 grams to the nose and it will fly great
I have flown all my life, mostly gas, then when the brushless motors and lipo batteries came around I started flying electric and I bought one of these flew it and then threw it away... complete junk. I tried to disconnect the rudder and just fly it 3 channels, but it still slammed itself into the ground.
Flew mine for so long the batteries went bad before the plane broke. (I am not necessarily a beginner) it's a good plane. It's just not a backyard flyer, and needs a bigger battery for windy days.
I had the same experience. Then on throttle up when it does start to fly all the control surfaces stick and puts the plane into a death spiral and crashes. But it’s well constructed it just needs a good flight controller and reconfigure on the servos. 😂. Sad to say company done nothing to help😢
Yeah so I got the XK A220 (the p40) and same thing with safe on happens. You can barley turn. When safe is on I guess it really limits the control travel. I got the Eachine/volantex mustang and it flys so good with safe on, I can turn so sharp with it.
You totally were unprepared for this airplane. I have one and it was not easy to tame. It loves to tip stall and requires lots of speed to keep flying. Your choice of flying site was bad too. Soccer field required not a backyard. I'm a well seasoned RC guy retired here in Thailand, this is definitely NOT a trainer. Looks great but too much for a newbie. I also stay in 6G mode too. Too squirrely in 3D. If your prepared properly and check CG, etc. It looks amazing in the air or just sitting.
My first was the parkzone Cub.. went from that to the Stryker C. then got bored after a while and upgraded my Stryker with a motor that shouldn’t go in it 🤣
In its out of the box form, this plane will “fly”. Does it fly well? (No) I agree it’s very “meh”. I ended up swapping the crappy motor for the brushless motor that is in the A160 (XKP51), omitted the plastic canopy and made a wing support out of toothpicks to replace that part. With the added power, it is like a completely different plane. So it has potential! I’ve put around 100 flights on mine. It is in fact a 60 dollar airplane so… it’ll fly like one.
I bought 1 of these never flew before took me about 30 seconds to learn to fly it I've got 3 packs through it let my friend fly it who also never flew before and he had no problems flying it either the landing gear took a beating but other than that it hasn't had any issues I'm still learning how to land and my driveway is dirt and rocks so it's not exactly smooth
It’s funny because this is my absolute favorite beginner plane. I guess they’re a bit hit and miss. Iva had mine over a year now. Still flies amazing and so easy to replace parts.
Hmmm, would love do to this. Can you email me the link to what you used ? This plane is hanging in my garage and I love the way it looks. Bud can’t fly it the way it is! My email is jaysrcgarage@gmail.com
@@Jays_rcgarage if you own a spektrum radio all you need is a spektrum sattalite. There are two open ports on the main board/Flight controller one marked S-bus thats for fytaba radios and i believe the other one is unmarked and that one is where you plug the spektrum sattalite in. I picked an XK a800 glider this week and was able to do the same thing. Kind of sucks they are great airplanes but the toy grade radios they provide are crap. You could also try to bind to the controller from the airplane that flys well to yellow one
Title of the video could be "worst place to fly for a beginner" small planes fly fast and need good reflex, so for a beginner the best thing is to fly in a place with no trees, with a bigger model and it’s gonna be stressless ! Your garden is perfect to fly a 3D aerobatic plane or helico but with experience !😉
im thinking of replacing the guts of mine because the gyro is so messed up. Whenever i pull up, the rudder turns left. I got it for chritsmas and haven't flown it since a few days after. The two prop mount thingies it came with are broken. Im not sure how to fix it since its my first actual rc plane.
Man did that plane suck. It flew twice perfect. Took many attempts at that too. In the end the airframe did survive undamaged. I broke it down with plans to someday add other electronics to it. Never got around to it. Been maybe two years now. Just hate to throw away such a beautiful airframe.
If you got one with the first release flight controller they flew like crap but they did revise a few times now and might be worth picking up a new main board on bang good see them going for as low as 17 bucks and makes it a whole new airplane when flying
Top Wing planes are the greatest beginner aircraft this whole safe thing came around a few years back if anything it's a hindrance to True skill that's obtained through practice
Yep. If i ever get on a commercial airplane and see that it has an Autopilot installed I scream to get off! Same if the pilot is wearing a fancy Kepi instead of a real leather flying helmet! You can't trust this new-fangled stuff! ;-)
Is a beautiful plane sadly a waist of money, had one like this a wile a go the electronics on it are the problem the only way to make this work is by replacing the flight controller/ESC & servos.
The little Rate Bear that’s linked below flys amazing. It’s the second plane I flew in this video. Or any of the Eachine are cheap and great beginner planes !
Watch the videos of Ground Control RC on RUclips. He shows how to remove the bad guts and get it flying not too bad. It will never be an excellent flier - it is too heavy for its wing area.
It’s both. The board is a known issue (can be mitigated but not avoided) but also this guy is taking off straight into trees before the board has a chance to even lock the rudder and become the failure point. Area is way too small for a beginner. Lots of bad choices here.
