They changed so much to make it more family friendly (including changing lines, cutting about an hour, adding some lines for no reason, and cutting out major plot points, characters and songs) that even if they did get the rights they would have been sued because copyright infringement.

I've seen her videos, and she made a video regarding the Illegal Heathers situation and she said that she actually auditioned for the part of Veronica but they decided to put her as Heather C. She said the Veronica from Illegal Heathers was very talented and she doesn't know what happened the night of recording and why she was so awkward and out of tune, etc.

Heck, the majority of the time they didn't even get timings right. Saying that it's just a high school production is not an excuse when it's clear that a lack of effort is the biggest issue with this production, not a lack of money

Jesus Christ, my school's doing this play and we're pouring our hearts, souls, and money (bc we don't get funded 😩) into it,,, I didn't exactly get why people hated the hs version so much until I watched illegal Heathers. Even though we're doing the hs version, compared to this kidz bop act ours is a carbon copy of the original. Also our teacher would literally kill us if we pulled a half assed performance.
