Thank you for your disclosure. Practicing long tones is always my favourtie routine as we play weekly! Helps the chops and the lungs. Peace from Canada
I practiced daily last year and had a similar experience to yours. Now, practicing has become a habit and even feels like a reward. I’ve started using it as motivation so before practicing, I tackle something I dislike first to 'earn' my practice time..
Happy new year to you from Sweden! I have watched the majority of your videos and have certainly learnt a lot. Because of my work I cannot practice every day but my go to routine when times limited is your long tones schedule which have helped me a lot. So thanks a lot for your inspiring videos and let's go practice! 🎶🎺
Happy New Year Bryan ! Here’s wishing you a better year , and continued success in all things … Love your channel ! You’ve been a huge inspiration for me a 64 yo comeback player. Shane,
Came here after the video of your 8BBB show in Boston. That gig was amazing and the lead was on fire! Influence of long tones?... You're an absolutely brilliant inspiration to get back to practicing, after having let standards slip myself over the last couple of years. Thank you and Happy New Year!
Just started playing at an older age. Subscribed, and will try to follow you on the daily videos. Probably over my head but at least ill learn something.
Hello good sir, I've been teaching for years, and I'm efforting to just practice everyday, and your long tones have been a great jump start to have more than "teacher chops" Thank you.
Man, thanks for that Video. My Father passed away last year aswell and i let the practice and routine slip away and it started to show towards the end of the year. Going for this challenge for 2025. Thanks man!
Buongiorno e grazie per i tuoi video! Anche io cerco di allenarmi ogni giorno, ti vorrei chiedere come posso migliorare la mia flesssibilita e cosa fai tu per migliorarla. Grazie di cuore ❤
love your playing bryan, i would love to see all your tech (cpu stuff) that you use for recording , youtube, trumpet! cheers! i played in the best American Brass band for over a decade ;-)
Thanks for looking in! I've been thinking about making some videos about the tech I use - it'll probably end up on a separate channel. I'll be sure to announce it over here if I do.
Thank you for your videos, your exercises, and your inspirations. I have found lots of great information that has helped my playing (and added substantially to my range) in your videos over the years. Best wishes for the New Year! I have a request for a brief topic to mention this year: re-warming up, meaning what do you recommend when picking up the horn again after a few hours of not playing? Do you simply use your “Quick Facility Warm Up”?
Do you think you would think about posting exercises addressing other trumpet skills, besides long tones? Such as 20 min dedicated to flexibility/articulation/etc? Mixing it up from long tones maybe
Hi Bob. I've posted plenty in the earlier years of the channel - look back at the Exercise of the Week series, or the 2022 Go Practice series I linked at the end of the video. It's certainly something I can start doing again...
So, Mr Davis says that his special mouthpiece projects like crazy. Well, so do most mouthpieces, even the omnipresent Bach 7c. It all depends who's using it. So, what's the point ?
I have no vested interest in promoting the mouthpieces, simply answering a frequently asked question. The difference in the Apredato projection compared to an unconverted version of the same mouthpiece is stark, so it’s worthy of mention.
I'm 79 and can't stop playing but I get bored and more with zillions of scale work. I ad lib to lots of female vocal recordings.. Would like to have more endurance. I have great sound and not much range anymore. Signed befuddled.
Happy New Year! It's been far too long since a long form video. Time to rectify that...
Thank you, Bryan. I appreciate your transparency, and I’ve almost finished book 1. Now to repeat it faster this year!
I´m at it right now. And this Year it´s only 365 Days. I hope to see you again in 2025, it´s been too long ! Best to you Sir B. !
My liege! It has definitely been too long. I’ll try to get out in your direction during the year. Take care and all the best to you and the family.
Bryan, many thanks for the motivational video! At 70 years old, it was exactly what I needed to hear! I wish you the best in 2025! 🎺🎼🎵🎶
All the best to you too! Happy practicing.
Bravo, Bryan! Happy New Year!

That's an interesting way of doing it. I might have to try that!
I feel so similar about my practice as you have come to. My practice is the thing I look forward to most in my day!

Long tones are great. I wish more trumpet players really understood what an impact well done long tones can have in player development.
Happy New Year Bryan! You are always a guiding hand and an inspiration!

That’s a good video idea - on the list!

@@AirflowMusicNYC Maybe an update? I took excercies from your old videos, but it would be refreshing to get a fresh perspective
