  • I find myself adding a simple backdrop and lights over and over again..here I'll show you how to make a backdrop and lighting setup you can reuse for your characters or sculpts. All you'll have to do is adjust the lights as needed. Enjoy!

It’s been a while on my end, but I missed your videos! Are you still doing nightly livestreams? They used to be so relaxing! 🎥🎨

Love your videos! I followed this tutorial pretty closely, my backdrop looks great, but when I add in the lighting my hard shadow from the “world light” renders pretty pixelated/jagged. Any suggestions? I’ve tried adding softness to the light, remeshing the plane and the sphere, upping my resolution… I’m not sure what I’m missing but I can’t seem to get a nice crisp shadow like yours.

I figured it out! Under “Post Processing” (it doesn’t need to be selected) check on “max frame sampling” and set to about 100-115, that should smooth out the shadows. Then you can adjust the intensity of the light for harder edges or softer edges :)

Hi! Quick question, how did you bring the character to the file?

You can import a nomad file, or stl, obj, glTF files into nomad! You just add file from the folder menu 👍🏾

If you create a transparent object and want its color to be reflected on the ground, for example a red object, then the color of its reflection on the ground will be a red shadow, how is that possible?

Hmm, if you want a red reflection you could try faking it with a red light. Other than that you could make the object glow and then there will be some red light reflected, but not very much at all. When I create characters that have glowing parts sometimes I fake the reflection or glow on other objects by using a light source.
