Join me taking the M5 back to the place where it was built for a special look around the plant! BMW Werk Dingolfing are responsible for building up to 400,000 cars a year including the likes of the M5, and now also the 8 Series and we can follow the process as they head down the assembly line.
Arguably the best video on RUclips to give owners and owners to be an insight into the complete process their car goes through before delivery. Brilliant material Shmee.
I'd do anything to get my hands on any M model. They say its the ultimate driving machine for a reason. Amazing upfront and in person tour of the facility. Great commentary.
You are such a blessed man to be allowed to shoot a video inside a car manufacturing plant. I love this type of video where we get to see behind the scenes of car production. So fascinating. But we don't see too many of such videos around. Maybe it's because car makers don't want their competitors to see their secret production techniques and technology. I have to say the technology employed by BMW (and carmakers in general) these days is just mind bending. I wonder how we would be making our cars today if we didn't have moving assembly lines, wheel torquing robots, spray painting robots, welding robots, laser wheel alignment, computers and all the other plethora of jigs, gadgets and tools inside that plant.
I took my 5-series back to the Dingolfing factory a few years ago, drove all the way from Glasgow in Scotland! We were in Munich and figured it was too close not to. The factory tour is brilliant, would highly recommend it.
My first comment ever on RUclips, just to say Tim really this is the next level of content. Im watching your channel since long time and it's clearly very profissional and consistent contents, Keep doing the great job you and your team. Thank you and all the best.
The M5 is an instant classic! It brings creedance, back to the motto: "The Ultimate Driving Machine". I really enjoyed, the tour of the plant. Impressive. 👍
I love to see you doing factory tours and you were privileged to be able to bring in cameras to make this video possible. I hope you do another factory tour video.
That's a fair point, but my channel is about individual informative pieces, it's not a daily vlog so it's based around a publishing schedule. However amusingly I was there yesterday too, just not actually filming this video.
betaich It’s been 30 celsius every freakin’ day here in Sweden. And temps barely go below 20 during night. I absolutely hate it. If it wasn’t for the 24 hours of daylight in the north during summer and the opposite in winter, i’d move there xp
I‘m quite suprised how many people are involved in the production! I‘ve been to Audis factories multiple times and there so many robots doing tasks that, as shown in this video, are done by humans at BMW. Probably I should visit this factory next time I will be in southern bavaria.
Absolutely cracking video, great explanation of how these machines are made. The amount of technology that goes into the plant to put cars together is mindblowing. Great to see parts of car, that as a buyer, we never get to see, pieces of art to be fair. Cheers, Ben
Oh man,Tim,your so near from my hometown, but don‘t come to visit me?Are you kidding me?Would be perfect to meet you...a dream would be come true...so I hope you have a beautiful evening.Cheers😊😊
Oh wow - happy memories, I worked at this factory for a short while during my time at college back in 1995 on the electronics quality control (basically testing all the gadgets & gizmos on the 5,7 & 8 series of that time similar to what you mention at 12:20. ;-)
Love your enthusiasm. You did an awesome job on explaining certain procedures. I have watched a few other production vids but they never explain anything. Thanks for that. I own a G30 so it was awesome to see the production line.
That generation of BMW 5 Series that I've driven was the 520d M Sport n 520d Luxury Line. Fantastic to drive! That M5 was used by Tom Cruise in the movie Mission: Impossible Fallout
This is so magnificent n satisfying to see how the BMW m5 or 5 series is made and to have an idea to know how the other cars for The BMW 1 series to 7 series and potentially 8 series when it comes out
I swear to god I genuinely love cars and as much as I wanna do football if that doesn’t work out I would love to work in a place like that or work In a car manufacturing place
Love this Shmee, go even deeper into things like chassis structure, metallurgy; I'd like to see the manufacture of the suspension and control components from BMW's suppliers. A tour of ZF's drivetrain components. BMW, great Engineering, poor aesthetics, though the i8 is a notable exception.
blessings #Shquad on a rainy day here in BC where finally the heat has broken, always a treat to ride along with you Tim and seeing inside BMW plant is a bonus! appreciate the great content and looking forward to future adventures with you all, take care brothers and sisters, til next time! 8^)
MrParabola90 Yes they are but the engine is build in the Alpina factory and shipped to the BMW factory and if you have the optional leather they reskin your interior at the Alpina factory, add decals, badges and fine tune the setup of the car there. So there is a lot of logistics work to build an Alpina.
Wow! This was a very insightful and amazing video to watch. This was a real treat into the world of high performance car manufacturing. But look at the size of that V8 at 6:48!
Love these car manufacturing videos. Can you make a video at the JLR plant? I've been there a few times before, but obviously they didn't let me film anything.
M car is not for everyone, I got one NOT competition. Happy see it still in my M garage but very expensive to take care of it. So, I consider it as my extreme Toy. Handle with care most of the time. love to see the video where my baby was born there. Smile Thank you for for your times and Smart Visit.

Shmee150 awsome video Shmee! Keep up the awsome work!!!
Shmee150 shmee tell me now, is it your M5 or you can have it for couple of months?
Shmee150 i think u should jus buy it....
/// M he jus have it for couple months
Since it got so much mileage on it already & it has to be cheaper @shmee150
I enjoy seeing these plants and how the cars are built
Pleased to hear it, hope you like this video!
I like these videos because they help me learn.
Me too!
Arguably the best video on RUclips to give owners and owners to be an insight into the complete process their car goes through before delivery. Brilliant material Shmee.
Seeing cars being built is soooo satisfying
This was especially timely for me, as I'm leaving to pickup my long-awaited M5 at the dealership, in about 10 minutes. Thanks, Shmee.
I'd do anything to get my hands on any M model. They say its the ultimate driving machine for a reason. Amazing upfront and in person tour of the facility. Great commentary.

Thanks Tim! Great to get visual access to places a regular person wouldn't be allowed. Cheers!
Dingolfing is place every BMW enthusiast should visit one day! Sort of a pilgrimage!
Awesome factory
Lol i live in dingolfing, i had to work there for a week cause our school said we had to idk why, really cool
That's a serious production line, I'd expect nothing less from the Germans! Really love seeing these behind the scenes looks at how things are made
My dream is just to have an M from BMW or an AMG Mercedes...german cars are just the best!!!!
Work hard and smart and you'll be sitting in one in no time!
Swedish cars *cough* are good too *cough*
Thomas Hayhurst used to be good*
M50B25 Turbo I disagree. Sweden has always made good cars
Thomas Hayhurst Yeah but Swedish production cars are hardly comparable to the Germans

I’m speechless with this vlog. Thanks for it, I enjoyed it. Never thought how they made it.
It was a pleasure to see a video of the factory where my 2010 E63 M6 was built!!!
This is so amazing to see these cars being built in the factory!
The M5 is an instant classic! It brings creedance, back to the motto: "The Ultimate Driving Machine". I really enjoyed, the tour of the plant. Impressive. 👍

Shmee your the best out there for content and knowledge. Excellent stuff
Such a privilege to get inside a BMW production plant...! Great formative video.
What a dream to have a look inside this factory, thanks for sharing this with us Shmee :)
You must have filmed that a while ago, rain in Germany seems to be along lost memory by now.
That's a fair point, but my channel is about individual informative pieces, it's not a daily vlog so it's based around a publishing schedule. However amusingly I was there yesterday too, just not actually filming this video.
Wasn't meant as a criticism Tim, just an observation. Also I am longing for rain and for the temps to get down.
betaich

J Gripen wooooow thx here in Korea it’s more than 40 for the first time in 111 years that really cheers me up
Schmee rules!! To have this kind of access to record this video inside the factory is only for a VIP. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Great video Tim, you could probably do a video on the paint booth alone ! More like this please Mike Harrington
Great to see how the cars are built. I would also love to see how are all the machines designed and built. Probably as complicated as the actual cars.
That is such a cool process to watch!

Great video. Really interesting 👍

Wow I had no idea the alpinas were built in the same factory! I always assumed they were shipped the car where they redid everything! crazy!
I didn't see anyone installing the turn signals...wonder why....
