And Bono went directly to his fans for validation and ego-mending, thus proving Harrison was correct.
What would you have done?
I'm not a big U2 fan, but your comment is a logical fallacy, exemplifying the deterioration of sensible dialogue.

True!

There is no music today, just loud noises.
There's plenty of great music today... You just gotta know where to look.
Most of it's in the progressive metal scene, with bands like Dream Theater and Epica leading the charge.

When Paul McCartney recently referred to the Rolling Stones as a blues band (or similar), Mick Jagger responded with how much he loved Paul McCartney. That shows class.
To be fair, Mick Jagger wanted the rolling stones *to be a blues band* so that was a compliment of the highest order. That you think it comparable to what is being said here, just makes me think you know nothing about them.
@@franksmith4730 I think you should calm the eff down and stop attacking people. You'll feel better.
Well, Paul wasn't lying. The Stones were great songwriters (especially the albums from 1968 - 1974), but they weren't adventurous and progressive like later period Beatles. There's room for both.
paul knew what to say. he knew mick and co. when they were trying to be a blues band. i think only charlie watts really stayed a blues player.
Totally different context. The Stones CONSIDER(ED) themselves a blues band. They, unlike certain other bands, *cough* (Led Zeppelin), made a point to credit those who originated the music. So, no, NOT the same.

I got my mind set on you.

I mean, yeah, but U2 released their most "pop" album of their catalog the same year, and while it was a middling affair and a sign of the end for U2, it doesn't really discount the greatness of Achtung Baby and Joshua Tree and everything else that came before. I bet George would be pretty pissed if you only judged the Beatles on the merits of their first two albums.

I loved U2 when i was at Manhattan College as a native NYer (& MC is in a mostly Irish area). So like everyone at school, we went to see them 3x & slept out all night for tickets. After the gig, we waited all night & some met Bono & some of us met The Edge at different concerts.
*The Edge just stopped jumped out of his car (Groupie drinking a Beer in the back of the limo) & signed autographs & left quick. *Bono on the other hand, at 2am, had the giant garage door open up at the end of the slanted platform where the equipment goes down, suddenly walked up out of nowhere & appeared in the middle of the huge garage entrance way, & slowly walked up the incline to the top, like the G*d we thought (& he was convinced) he was. No. He was wrong. In fact it was almost the pot calling the kettle black. What were the Beatles if not a better quality boy band? If it wasn’t for George Martin they would’ve been forgotten. As far as U2, they were an alternative pop/rock when they came out. They were not popular in the main stream until later. People can disagree with what I say about the Beatles, but I don’t think what I say about U2 is even open for discussion. I was there, and they were not aiming to be part of the “in crowd“. I didn’t think they were that good after their first album but they were hardly what I call a bunch of sellouts.
Beatles would’ve been forgotten without George Martin? Are you out of your mind? George Martin had little in the thought making process of making music even Paul McCartney stated this. As far as U2 there was no term alternative rock band when they came out they were simply a Rock Band and they were good and got progressively better as the years went on making great albums. Other than that.....meh 😅
because douche bags only expel , right you are , douche bags don't " suck "
How do you think they got famous, I wonder? Do you think millions of people are just stupid?
@@NinjaMatt2201 Yes.
@@NinjaMatt2201 Millions of stupid people.....? Welcome to North America. And everywhere else
George was completely right!
George is correct.
George has always been such a sweetheart ❤❤❤
Something, My Guitar Gently Weeps, Here comes the Sun. Three of the greatest songs of all time.
Agreed brother. While my guitar gently weeps is my favorite Beatle song and one of my favorite songs of all time. His songs were so sublime.
In your opinion of course.
A million people could give you a million different lists.
That's what is great about music, it is so subjective 😊
There really is something for everyone, and most of us have eclectic tastes.
@@Medusa13579 so how about expanding the discussion and share some of your favorite music
@@WTHenry2023 The Smiths, Echo and The Bunnymen, Prince, U2, Tina Turner, Nanci Griffith, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, The Eagles, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Guns and Roses, Smokie Robinson, The Bee Gees, Abba, Rainbow, Aretha Franklin, Shaggy.
In no particular order, and I'm sure there are others. These were off the top of my head.
Like most people, an eclectic mix 😊
@@Medusa13579 Thank you. Excellent!
George is not wrong
Opinions are like rear ends. I could point to numerous super talented music in the 90’s, 2000’s and today. And super rot music from the 60’s and 70’s and beyond. Nothing new under the sun.
He was wrong in regards to the time in question. There were several grat bands in 97....disaster came afterwards. He was right about overrated boring confused Bono
George should have chosen Different words. Disrespect he showed just brought my opinion of him down.can you imagine Paul saying that about anybody? George had less class than Paul for sure
@@Steve-gx9ot what’s funny is his seeking the Godhead and internal peace. More diplomatic ways to say it isn’t to your taste
@@michaelbrickley2443 100% Michael. There was some real crap put out in the 60's and 70's.
George was right. RIP.
I agree with George Harrison 100%. And the music of today does suck.
George was a legend Bono is a Clown 🤡 😂😂
😂😂
WEF stooge !
George was a 3rd man, Bono was a Frontman.
George Harrison was 100% on point.
Just boys being boys let it be. They were both amazing in their different ways so be thankful we had all that great music to listen to ❤
Irony. The Beatles once declared they were bigger than Jesus. That's ego for you.
Yep. Harrison hit the nail square on the head. Being from Lancashire I had more sense than go to waste any money on an evening hearing U2 drone on.
Also crossing the border into Yorkshire is considered treasonous so you chose well
Harrison was a good judge of character. Bono’s pals included JE, Bill Clinton and so much worse .
Epstein Island visitor ?
He liked bush too
Posh Dublin's pseudo intellectuals
Bono is a W.E.F. Klaus Schwab puppet. Bono is a former student of the "Young Global Leaders"
A total sellout just another social influencer who sold his soul.
Better than trump
@@guitarman7573George was not a Republitard...touche!
Who's JE?
George just told it like it was! I respect that.
