Just read your comment of two months ago , on Bobby Hatfield performing live on the Andy Williams show singing Unchained Melody , I agree with you , that live performance was spectacular , his voice INCREDIBLE , those high notes which he sang so easy . I have been listening to a lot of The Righteous Brothers music on You Tube recently , as I love Bobby Hatfield . I often wonder why such talented artists with voices so profound and beautiful , turn to cocaine , I’ve seen performances of him singing in later life and watched his body language , I also caught a video of them both being interviewed they were 63 yrs old , I noticed that Bobby’s mouth was pulled to the left ( as though he had suffered a stroke ) as he was talking and his voice sounded high pitched , not at all like his previous interviews, sad very sad , I know the circumstances of his death , but you can’t help compare his voice from his early years and how it declined, wonder if it was the cocaine . Really upset me to see such a wonderful singer end up like this .. Best Wishes 🇬🇧

I’m just hearing Bobby sing this for the first time but as usual he has his heart his soul everything in this song. He’s got such a beautiful tenor, every time I hear him I think of all the beauty in the world
In spite of all the nay-sayers and critics on here, I still enjoyed listening to the incomparable Bobby Hatfield singing far better in his age and ill-health than most people could ever manage even in their heyday.
Bobby Hatfield was an incredible singer his vocals are unmatched especially Unchained Melody its his eternal signature song .I did not know he had his own record out without Bill .

Unfortunately, time and an unhealthy lifestyle had taken a toll on his vocal cords by the time this song was recorded. The high notes were unreachable, could not hit them like when he was younger.
@@stwads I am glad to hear that someone else believes the truth. Bobby was a heavy smoker an a big eater, junk food on the tours. Arteries 95pct. blockage to his heart. Bill knew him for more than 40 years, and he said that if he thought Bobby was on drugs, he would have done something. How do you work for someone for 40 years and not know? Bobby looked good those last years. His voice did suffer from smoking, but he could still sing. One picture I saw of him after the rr hall of fame, he looked tired. On the night of his death, he called Bill "Beany," He just wanted to rest before the show. I'm sorry to be so long winded, but I am just tired of people automatically assuming Bobby was this big drug addict. I believe he was tired. @@marilyndurham738 - Okay, you say he was not an addict, BUT that he took a hit of coke. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck! It is not an eagle. With his heart in the shape that it was, that "hit of coke" is what did him in. He obviously knew what the desired effect the coke could have - unfortunately it was not the one he was looking for. Another thing. Bobby spent the evening with the group before going to bed at 9, very early for him. When he was found, he was in his bed with the tv remote in his hand. If there had been drugs in the room someone would have told the press. Bobby pushed through those final years with sheer strength and willpower. He was so exhausted after a show that they kept a chair for him right off stage. High on coke, eh? No Bobby was tired and ready to go. It was time to rest that beautiful voice.
@@LB-mj7ph do you know when this song came out? In November 1988, he fell on slick pavement when pushed by another man outside his and Bill’s nightclub. He suffered facial fractures, broken teeth, and broken palate. I guess this incident could also play a part of the change in his voice.
He is not too bad. I like to listen to different versions of songs to hear how different artists interpret them. Bobby has a nice voice, but I think this song is kind of out of his league.
I don't think this song was out of his league. I think this must be when Bobby was older and not in the best of health due to his addiction. I think he was only 62 when he died, but he didn't look well in some of the later photos.
@@watchman1178 He was NOT an addict. Someone with a vivid imagination says something. It gets repeated and then the internet does its thing, and it has a life of its own. People can have health issues without being an addict. Oh, and, he was 63 when he died.
@@Aurora-tp3dy I was a Bobby Hatfield fan, but he DID have a problem with cocaine. Hell, it was an accidental overdose that killed him. Sorry if you can't handle the truth.
@@watchman1178 No, that so called trace amount of cocaine, even if actually there, would not cause an overdose. The medical examiner never used the term overdose. He was on meds for his cardiac issues and needed by-pass surgery. According to Bill Medley, the medical examiner couldn't understand how he could walk across the stage let alone perform, and, that he couldn't imagine Bobby living through that November. Glad you're a fan, but he didn't OD and he wasn't an addict. This recording was made after he was shoved and fell. Don't know if he completely recovered at that time. Anyway, every bone in his face was broken; his teeth were knocked out; and, his palate split open. He was in the hospital for quite a while and had several surgeries. Anyway, all that definitely can effect how you sound. P.S. I can handle truth; it's nonsense I have a problem with. So goodbye.
