Wow, great video Chris. Thank you for all of the kind words about our products. We are proud to be backed by our German Engineering roots and manufactured in the USA!
Right on, Chris! I am shocked at how horrible the original seals are. They're just junk. I figured that would be the case for the replacements and would need to do it every 3 years. I'm excited to switch to the Jaeger system. Hopefully it lasts a long time!
@@Mike_In_Idaho yeah I just met up with them yesterday again at the RV Hershey show and their stuff is really good. No need for UV protection products to be applied to theirs either. 👍🏼
Interesting. GD had previously stated using the double EKD style was deliberate to provide additional weatherproofing of the luane-backed outer and inner wall laminations to the aluminum framing to prevent delamination... Nonetheless, the product you used has been around a long while from America's largest and oldest weatherstripping manufacturer - Steele Rubber Products - and their products are made in the USA. This style seal was standard on a lot of Forest River products where they capped the laminate edges and portal framing with a plastic channel cap.
Thanks! I just replaced most of my sweeps on my 3 year old RV since they were all ripped 😡. Bulb seals were fine. I ended up getting replacement wipers for free but will look into this system when time to do them again.
Thank you for the video on these seals. I'm about to replace one of my wiper seals on my motorcoach so I'm going to check this system out. Keep up the good content 🎉.
Awesome video. This is exactly the tutorial I was looking for. Our seal at the roof is doing the exactly same thing you show. I was trying to figure out what parts without tearing it apart first. What year is your GD? We have a 2016 Solitude. Looks like the same components.
My 2024 Momentum 415G came with the updated seals. A month ago i was on the lot looking at a 2025 that just came in and it had the corners. I ordered them $24 for 2 pair and installed them. My local Napa sold a 3M Adhesive Promoter for $3 so I used that before the install. They really clean up the seals nicly and serve a function too.
Once you put the top seal on and tuck the top wiper flap under the side D seal in the corner, did you put a screw through flap in the side D track to hold the flap down?
@@WhyWait The Surveyor factory did that method on my new trailer and the corner of the slide out wore through the flap in just 3 years of normal camping use. The condition of the top seal is great other than the tear from the edge of the slide out rubbing. I now have to replace the top seal. From this experience, I am thinking it’s better to leave the flap not attached to the side seal in the corners. Thanks for your great video. I learned a lot.
I’ve been seeing videos about how 303 Protectant is causing RV seals to disintegrate. I’ve been using it for a couple years and hopefully my seals don’t start to degrade
I don’t know about that. Been using it for years on everything including all the rubber on my vehicles and no problems. 303 Aerospace Protectant does not contain silicone oils or petroleum distillates, or other agents unsafe for rubber so Id have to see hard science that it’s what’s causing rv seals to degrade.
@@WhyWait same here. I’ve been using it a long time and haven’t had any issues. Given 303 is geared up for marine use, you’d think they’d have a banger of a concoction. Thanks for the reply!
Hi Chris. The Style Caps seem like a great idea, but I'm a little confused as to whether they would fit my seals. They look like the ones you showed, but its not the Jaeger system. How can I be assured they'd work for me? Thanks.

Hi there! Our StyleCaps are designed to seamlessly fit with our slide-out seals only. We unfortunately do not have any way to guarantee that they will fit your seals, but we have heard of people retro fitting them to fit other seal types.
Yes on my old seals I started early. Tried my best about once a month using 303 on them. Full time RV 6 years and those seals on top of the slideouts take a beating from the sun.

If silicone adhesive was used on the gelcoat, you will need to sand the gelcoat to remove the silicone or the polyurethane or even silicone will not adhere to the surface. Once silicone has cured, even new silicone sealant will not adhere to its self. You have to sand the surface until water doesn’t bead up on the surface. Your problem is you own a Grand Design ! Our Riverstone doesn’t have that problem.
Right on! Ours is a 2018 so overall it’s been good. You can go watch my videos on frame flex though where we pretty much bash grand design. Luckily mine doesn’t have that. Riverstone is nice, we like them and it’s probably the only RV under the Forest River umbrella I would ever get too.
I will say one thing Grand Design did right was switching to these seals on all of their RVs around 2019.
Thanks for watching.
German engineering usually means needlessly complicated, maintenance heavy, and ridiculously expensive
Well it’s just a rubber strip so I hope it’s not too complicated for you 👍🏼
but their stuff works....
