Absolutely! I think I mentioned it in the video that karmic dice actually will have a negative effect against you if you have really have ac…not sure if that portion came in final version. You’re absolutely right though.
Not exactly, it’s in place to stop “bad luck streaks”, and it does do that. Problem is it does this in the opposite effect too…if you have super high AC, karmic dice would against you in this case. It goes both ways
@@HarveyBirdMans it prevents constant fails/successes by loading the dice for players and enemies. Basically if you have constant hits, it guarantees a miss and vice versa.
This build is fantastic for the great sword githyanki weapon but I personally went polearm master + sentinel. Amulet of the harpers gives you shield as a reaction and costs no spell slots. So if you want, you could use that instead of having a spell slot for shield. Could go that route. I don't know if amulet version doesn't work with arcane ward
It's only once per long rest, so you'll still have to spend a slot on em eventually, but it gives adv on Wis saving throws too which is Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
Fun fact, even at low hit chances, it's still mathematically better to activate GWM than to turn it off, due to the extreme amount by which it increases your damage. Any builds using GWM or Sharpshooter should really take them as early as possible. Attack roll penalty is very easy to overcome anyways with Bless and Faerie Fire. Even without advantage though, 40% with GWM is higher DPR than a 65% without GWM.
Maybe if you look at raw numbers and statistics this could be true. However, situationally this is terrible advice. GWM passive is far more valuable than the activatable ability. Making the default attack then being granted an extra attack as a bonus action with both being at 65% chance is far more valuable than missing your fist attack and waiting a full round to miss again. Unless you are actively trying to overcome the disadvantage of GWM active, its absolutely not better to just leave it active. I guess if you use karmic dice, it would be more in your favor...
I suggest an alteration in equipment: i swapped the Helmet to the ring of arcane Synergy, so instead of inflicting a Conditon which often waste a action, just cast a cantrip for dmg or buff etc, get the Arcane synergy also and attack with bonus action in the same Round, next Round the buff is still up and just do 2 hits with the dmg modifier from arcane Synergy, repeat step one(this way its also possible to keep the buff up without using spellslots). So instead of searching for condition just continue to do dmg. Btw. Head and Ring do not stack if one procs the other doesnt give you more uptime or stacks for more Dmg. Atm i use Circlet of psionic revenge for Lae'zel cause if a caster doesnt succed boom dmg (1-4 psychic ) and also an increase of resistence against caster.
The helmet procs on almost everything you do. Its the better choice for Arcane Syn. I know because I use the helm on “Bow Priest” RangerCleric and so long as you have some skill or equip that causes a ‘condition’ it goes off every attack and reapplies Arcane Syn. I use the ring on my Warlock Eldritch Knight since it thankfully synergizes with EBlast + Warmagic + Pact extra attack. So my weapon gets double Charisma bonus (2x 7 bonus from 24 Cha). That build would like the 2 Cha helm a lot so that fact that there is a ring that provides Arcane Syn really helps out even if its clunkier to use than the helm.

Probably one of the coolest classes in the game. The problem with war magic is that it just doesn't seem beneficial to cast a cantrip and get 1 bonus action melee attack (with infusion from the ring) instead of just attackong twice? If you go fighter level 11 you will get 3 Attacks from 1 action which will probably outdamage anything an EK doing warmagic can do? You simply loose that ekstra attack. Warmagic should be switched around so that you could bonus action cast a cantrip after your attacks or should be gained much earlier (level 4?). This way a mage level 8 can do a melee attack after a cantrip which might be some nice extra damage.
So. Apparently haste is SUPER easy to get through alchemy. I’ve been coming up with badass multiclass builds that involve haste only to find out last night how easy it is to get potions of haste… seriously lol blew my mind
Good tip! This is correct as I was wrong about spell access. Multi classing a full caster / half caster gives higher access than what the wiki suggest.
Note for Tavern Brawler questions - yes tavern brawler is very good...ED gives you weapon bond, which means when throwing your weapon it comes back to you... Yes, this is one playstyle and yes its good. I do not like, because constantly throwing the weapon is a pain in the ass with the way inventory management is. Also, everyone is using tavern brawler, no point in creating a build on what every other person is talking about.
I'm leaning towards the pure Eldritch Knight because he has enough spells and the main thing is that he doesn't lose power because his basic attack is maxed out at level 11, which increases the chance to hit the target. I still don’t understand why the “Heavy Armor Master” feat was taken, because the Fighter provides access to Heavy Armor?
Sounds really good and is probably dropping then 5 lvls into wizard just for three attacks. I take it because I think it’s heavily underrated, in combinations with specific heavy armor, blade ward, arcane ward plus other buffs and the damage reduction starts getting really nice. Lots of times with just heavy armor master / heavy armor reducing dmg / arcane ward flat out taking 0 damage. At the end of the day it isn’t a game breaking feat but it’s still solid to me. There’s plenty of other options!
@@Mdntech3000 The class tactic is to activate True Strike on the target to gain a bonus action and immediately gain an advantage, then jump to the target and attack with a melee weapon to put another Eldritch Strike debuff on the target for the subsequent magic attack, which will last until the next turn and after the aforementioned manipulations, you will have another Action Surge, all of them with an advantage! You are not a tank or a mage, this is a combat mage, this class is about dealing damage in a short time for a single target. 5 actions per round with guaranteed advantage and two-handed damage is a very devastating combo and excellent mobility through jumps.

Amazing Video again! Thank you so so much for these. Are you planning to do videos for the other origin characters as well? Personally I would love to see Wyll and Karlach next, especially Wyll.
I’m not sure about Wyll and Karlach videos. Wyll has been done to death, any warlock / paladin hybrid (any oath but oathbreaker) is extremely lord appropriate. Not sure I can come up with a unique take on him. Karlach is DEFINITELY the definition of a barbarian, her character really encompasses that class. Would go some combination of barb / fighter. My guts build would work on her just fine.
you can get the sword in act 1 by cheesing the patrol, so you want to leave lae'zel in camp so she doesnt run off to voss and trigger the cut scene, use someone the can disarm and get them to be invisible (either through spell or potion) and go in solo then sneak up behind voss and try to disarm him though the best way to do this is by saving and keep trying so if your not ok with this your gonna need some big luck for your first try, also make sure your in turn base mode as you disarm him because if your enter combat already in turn base mode you can pick up the sword even when its not your turn then you just let the character die so the patrol stops combat then teleport everyone else back to camp and resurrect the character that picked up the sword and bam you now have a legendary sword in act 1
I have a question. In my examination of the Eldritch Knight, it says the Spell DC is based on WIS, not INT. Is that just a bug? In 5e - it is definitely INT.
That might be because I think certain spells are “assigned” to a certain save….some spells are based off wisdom and some based off INT. I remember that on my Druid for example, some spells that stated they were based off intelligence were actually rolling off my wisdom…there’s a bunch of little bugs about it, but it DEFINITELY should be INT as you said
You can get lae'zels sword in this video in act 1 just gotta finesse it and save scum Go to githyanki patrol in act 1 with the fighter hireling running battlemaster and dissrming attack pop an invis potion run up disarming attack if it succeeds boom free sword
If I was truly trying to make a powerful build / team - revolving around a DK, I would make the DK a probably some version of a lockadin. Then maybe a necro wizard who is focused purely on summoning. Then a higher level oathbreaker who provides all the great auras, especially damage aura to undead plus casting elemental weapon on my DK. Forth class can prob be any flavor of support. This team has a lot of synergy while still being thematic to a DK and strong.
@fuzzyhair321 I think support characters give more buffs than general healing. At least a caster than brings haste and other utility casts / cc to the party.
Got a Question could i be a Eldtrich Knight 7 and Fiend-Blade-Warlock 5 and then stack Bond Weapon and Pact Weapon on my Twohanded Spear or such? Cause throwing it around and such ^^
I've tried it. It looks like shield is bugged or something? I don't get my arcane ward increased when i use it. Is it normal? Is shield is not supposed to increase arcane ward as an abjuration spell?
Ye, it was working fine the other day but maybe the most recent patch bugged it out. I’m not sure why it’s not working anymore but it should as it’s abjuration spell.
Nope! That’s the beauty of it…if you don’t care about doing cantrip > attack and want to focus on pure melee with using spells like haste / blur for buffs you can do that and focus the stats elsewhere.
I think war magic is dogshit. Going warrior 6, wizard 4, warlock 2 seems way better to me. You get darkness, dark vision and 2 level 1 spells that reset on a short rest. Plus hex and throwing build does crazy damage.
Stronger? No, probably not…the reason why is because 3 attacks from Fighter is just so god damn good, hard for other builds in the game to compete (exception with monk/paladin). With that said, pure Eldritch Knight doesn’t seem to be worth it all, you might as well just play champion / battle master for more pure damage or more “control” utility due to BM maneuvers. EK lvl 10 ability eldritch strike doesn’t seem worth it. I guess if you go EK just to make yourself more tanky due to using Shield spell, yea that makes sense. The lack of lvl 3 spells hurts pure EK, but at the end of the day it’s all flavor. I feel like this build gives a nice variety of damage / tankiness/ utility.
@@Mdntech3000 I am currently playing a heavy armour EK for a second play through, he seems to be a lot more tankier with blade ward and shield than say a battle master, there is no need for intelligence if you leave offensive spell casting to Gale for example, but I think those close range dmg spells are very good and flavourful, burning hands/thunder wave etc so I got 14 int for now. You get 3 attacks which is a mini haste by default without any drawbacks, and there are a lot of utility spells sub level 3 like misty step, darkness etc.
@kaydens6964 yea, like I said tbh pure EK is definitely really good and def better than this hybrid. My hybrid really only brings utility with the lvl 3 spells, which is exactly what I need using this on laezel supporting my MC as a carry. Pure EK is definitely the tankiest version of fighter though.
@@Mdntech3000 Almost sure that if you will go 11 EK /1 Wizard, you will be able to scribe 3 lvl spells(11/3 rounded up + 1 = 5 caster levels). Also the extra attack at level 11 and the level 10 class feature are probably the best part of the class, using gear like "Helmet of Arcane Acuity" and "Ring of Arcane Synergy", you do good damage +and your spell DC could get insanely high, no boss will be able to save against your spells(may it be from items/scrolls etc...). Definitely some ways to abuse that, even a simple blindness with 100% success chance could mess up the toughest of bosses. This is the theory at least, have not tried it yet by myself.
Eldritch Knight seems like one of the weakest subclasses in the game. It gets its core feature at level 7 and the rest of it subclass features just seem super bad on paper compared to anything you could get with the other two or any other class for that matter. I am sure they made it level 7 to avoid too many builds dipping into free cantrips but it just hurts the subclass so much that it is not a level 3 ability. Would be like paladins unlocking Smite at level 7. Eldritch Strike and weapon bond are laughably poorly designed skills that either needs total redesign or the subclass needs to have more features added to it. EK seems extremely rushed and an afterthought even though conceptually a mage-knight is one of the coolest classes you can play (ah playing blood mage/Arcane warrior in DA:O was something). The subclass needs to get their free cantrip at level 3 and at level 7 they have to get a spell cast as a bonus action to properly balance out both the powerlevel but also the class flavor.
I think you might be discounting the value of spells. Their subclass features aren't much to write home about mainly because spells are already their main additional feature. There is not much of a need for an EK to be using cantrips, honestly. Shield, blur, and mirror image are incredibly strong and the main reason to go EK. Shield is just one of the most busted spells in 5e
I think the biggest thing EK needs, Elemental Weapon (the lvl 9 paladin spell, whatever it’s called) and cantrip infusing your next auto attack with corresponding elemental. I think that’ll add a lot to the class. The only thing EK really has going is being the “tanky” speck with shield access. This isn’t inclusive of EK but ya.
I have a question, why some builds have in total 74 abilities points on level 1 and like this one, only 73? in other channel someone build an Eldritch Knight like this: STR 16 DEX 10 CON 16 INT 14 WIS 10 CHA 8 Thanks!
Maybe because they just want to round out points. I like going 17 on certain builds because the feats that give +1 will enable me to reach the next bracket.
Please take this as constructive criticism: its annoying to hear “spoiler” and then the information one second later. Just avoid spoilers entirely as it will affect your channel growth.
Just take 1 level of Cleric - Light Domain for infinite uses of warding flare. Much better than shield and infinite uses while saving class levels for anything else. Edit: You seriously pronounced psyonics as "psy-chon-ics?" @5:05 and abjuration as "aberration" @8:59. Bro... lmao

Great tip for the everyone!
I remember that on my Druid for example, some spells that stated they were based off intelligence were actually rolling off my wisdom…there’s a bunch of little bugs about it, but it DEFINITELY should be INT as you said
great build, i might check that out!
You should!
You can get lae'zels sword in this video in act 1 just gotta finesse it and save scum
Go to githyanki patrol in act 1 with the fighter hireling running battlemaster and dissrming attack pop an invis potion run up disarming attack if it succeeds boom free sword
Yea I’ve seen some videos of people doing it…that’s an incredible power spike
Or use command drop. Going to attempt this in my next play through
At lvl 5 the fight is doable. With ogre horn earlier
@woutervictor6036 yea might try it again with ogres tbh
Sadly shield doesn't work as "abjuration spell" to heal your arcane ward
Awww got it
i heard somebody say in a reddit post that larian will be fixing that.
Ugh. It's not arch-type. It's Ark-ay-type. But awesome video! Thank you so much
Lol ya I’ve been corrected a bunch of times already 🤣
I would love a team synergy build. That is a little op because of how well they sync together. What are the other classes in your team are you using
If I was truly trying to make a powerful build / team - revolving around a DK, I would make the DK a probably some version of a lockadin.
@@Mdntech3000 legend cheers
@@Mdntech3000 what is your idea of a support character?
@fuzzyhair321 I think support characters give more buffs than general healing. At least a caster than brings haste and other utility casts / cc to the party.
@@Mdntech3000 I would probably use the necromancer as this support player, possible a barb?
Got a Question could i be a Eldtrich Knight 7 and Fiend-Blade-Warlock 5 and then stack Bond Weapon and Pact Weapon on my Twohanded Spear or such?
Cause throwing it around and such ^^
Yes you absolutely can! That’s def a viable strategy!!
@@Mdntech3000 a Fighter Foregoing Str and Dex huh^^ could be fun
I've tried it. It looks like shield is bugged or something? I don't get my arcane ward increased when i use it. Is it normal? Is shield is not supposed to increase arcane ward as an abjuration spell?
Ye, it was working fine the other day but maybe the most recent patch bugged it out. I’m not sure why it’s not working anymore but it should as it’s abjuration spell.
If I wanted to try this build with a 1-handed duellist, would I swap the scores for dex and strength and change feats accordingly?
Yes sir! Exactly what you could do and I feel like that makes a lot of sense.
Ark-ah-type, say it with me
Got it!
Do you need Intelligence as EK, if you are just buffing yourself mainly?
Nope! That’s the beauty of it…if you don’t care about doing cantrip > attack and want to focus on pure melee with using spells like haste / blur for buffs you can do that and focus the stats elsewhere.
@@Mdntech3000 Thanks for the quick response!
If you want cantrips you can also just use warped band of intellect
summoning the ded while stabbing npcs >.>
😆😆😆
Does this build get arcana prof?
Someone should make a bhaal build
That’s actually a great idea…holy sht
this is cool, but i like Polearms, what if i go polearm ?
Any two hander works! Can even go one hander / shield if you want.
Can this be done with duel wield or sword and shield???
Absolutely!!!!! Just adjust feats if you do go that route!
Cool video. FYI.. It's pronounced "Arc-eh-type" Not "Arch-Type". Have a great day.
My bad thanks for the correction!
I think war magic is dogshit. Going warrior 6, wizard 4, warlock 2 seems way better to me. You get darkness, dark vision and 2 level 1 spells that reset on a short rest. Plus hex and throwing build does crazy damage.
Yea there’s a lot of different way to create the build, your build sounds amazing!
Me: Mom can we have Paladin
Mom: We have Paladin at home
Paladin at home:
Lmaoooo for real! Nothing really compared to paladin I feel like.
How do you have 6 wisdom?
In the crèche I messed up my Laezel in the chair, she lost stats lmao
@@Mdntech3000 I see,
Arch type
Yessssss
Are you sure this is stronger than a pure Eldritch Knight?
@SP-ou6hy absolute and I completely agree, definitely think 11 EK is the strongest version of the build.
Lol, Archtype. Ark-eh-type.
My bad!!!! 🤣
Exclusive to****
In the tabletop, EK has better spell choices through Tasha's
Sigh- on- ics, not psyconics, lol
Got it thanks!
Its pronounced ark-uh-type
Oops!
I have a question, why some builds have in total 74 abilities points on level 1 and like this one, only 73? in other channel someone build an Eldritch Knight like this:
STR 16
DEX 10
CON 16
INT 14
WIS 10
CHA 8
Thanks!
Maybe because they just want to round out points. I like going 17 on certain builds because the feats that give +1 will enable me to reach the next bracket.
Great video but "archetype" is pronounced like "ar-kuh-type"
Thanks for the correction Tony! Will fix in further videos lol
Please take this as constructive criticism: its annoying to hear “spoiler” and then the information one second later. Just avoid spoilers entirely as it will affect your channel growth.
I get that, luckily there are no story spoilers in the video!
@@Mdntech3000That's another spoiler smh
Spoilers will not affect his channel growth. He just needs more of a gap in the event he does do a spoiler.
@@Mdntech3000i thought the video was good man and that thing you mentioned happens super early in the game so who cares
@jose9630 yea thanks man, I thought it happened early enough in the game that it wouldn’t be a big deal but o well.
Bro... lmao
My bad and yea man that’s a great idea!
