      Same. Also, vampires AND werewolves are SO two centuries ago. My wife was of the Gothic persuasion when we first met, and was friendly-or at least acquainted-with nearly every other Goth in the city between the ages of 18 and 35. (I was strictly from dark psychedelia-Jim Morrison, Blue Öyster Cult, and that lot.) I can tell you, from meeting with her friends, that if you can imagine vampires doing it, a story has been written in which they do it. That keg has been tapped dry. Lovecraft offered us a way forward with no limits. Whatever we may feel about the man personally, to ignore his work and the potentialities it opened for trippy, dreamy, existential horror is like deliberately placing yourself in fetters and chains.
      The best horror written in the 21st Century has been cosmic/existential, and I imagine it shall remain so for the foreseeable future-for as I’ve stated, via cosmic horror all things are possible.

      I’m so bored of the typical slasher and monster creepypastas. I hate the wendigo, slender man and other cryptid stories, they are so lazy usually. I love lovecraftian, cosmic horror, alternate dimension, liminal space, and other surreal stories with unique concepts involved.

    • @riphopfer5816
      @riphopfer5816 Год назад

      @@warframeees8013 You’re a kindred spirit, mate. I’m right there with you. So many of the story types you’ve listed are incredibly predictable, unimaginative, poorly-written, and exhaustingly dull. I don’t understand how the authors can feel they’re of sufficient quality to even release to the public-I’d be embarrassed. If I still had the inspiration I did 20 years ago, I’d write better ones myself; alas, though, good LSD is not so easy to find where I live anymore-especially at reasonable prices.
      See, you know you’re writing good horror when your subject matter scares the shite out of you, the author. As long as you’re not completely unrelatable, you’ll find people in the world that agree with you. I was always tormented by ideas of isolation and insignificance when I was young, and I wrote about it poetically, and at length. My skills as a writer are still there; unfortunately, I’ve learnt ways of dealing with those feelings because they were literally driving me dead unhinged. Thus, when I try to write with the same urgency of horror I did in my younger years, I find myself blocked by the defence mechanisms I’ve set up to mitigate that terror. I sometimes think if I were to take an high dose of LSD it might recreate the experience temporarily, as my mind is very well attuned to psychedelics-particularly LSD and mescaline-as devices for stripping away all but my deepest unconscious. At higher doses they strip away my ‘self’ completely, which is an useful experience, periodically, I find, but at that dose I’ve gone too far to reach the stuff that makes for good writing. Indeed-an ego death feels as though you are empty of all contents; in fact there is no longer even a ‘you’ that can be distinguished from the rest of the Universe.
      Anyroad, I’ve gone off the rails, here. Point is-one of these days, i’m’na get myself sorted and write a couple of new stories in my old style. Shake things up a bit. The creepypasta community has gone bloody stagnant.

    To the author: this is remarkably well-written in an age when the average person cannot assemble a cohesive-let alone coherent-sentence. However, I think an exercise that would serve you well would be to read the piece out loud to a voice recorder (say, on your phone), wait an hour, then listen to it . All sorts of things will stand out to you; I know this will work for you because you are sufficiently talented and practised to have an ear for the music of language. For instance: you’ll notice that early on, you overuse the noun , ‘disquiet’ to describe the protagonist’s anxiety and apprehension. Good word, but REALLY sticks out when overused. There was a particularly egregious spot where you used it, as well, when you were describing how the town’s extreme silence, the dread quiet (I am, of course, paraphrasing) amplified or increasingly fuelled the protagonist’s ’disquiet’. You made an unintentional pun, and I don’t think you were aiming for levity.
    Anyroad, I’m a fan. Just offering the advice of a guy who’s been around the block a few times. (More accurately, I’ve meandered and skulked my way up and down every dark alleyway in the entire city, by this point. More importantly, however, I’ve spent nearly 30 of my 40 years writing about what I found there.)
    Ultimately, my point is to suggest you give my revision trick a try…and please keep at it! You’re one of the most promising written voices I’ve heard in a long while. Nice work!
    -Rip

    the beginning of this story and I have not finished listening yet ... but the beginning gives me black and white TV early Twilight zone vibes. 2 episodes specifically. The guy who wakes up in an empty town with no memory of how he got there or who he is. And the second one is of a crew of space travelers who land on a very strange planet full of "frozen" people.

    Well! Yung Seti you’ve done a marvelous job with this piece and I cannot wait until the next installment. A special thanks to Dr Creepen for his excellent narration, to which he never falls short. I truly enjoyed this and I hope that the next one is even better! I’m getting the feeling that there’s something in the air in that town that may have changed the way they think. It’s only a small thing, but for a friend such as his to push him to go on such a trip to help with his recent divorce, then all the sudden have such an outburst of negativity at him, it just doesn’t seem right. Although I have had it happen to me! But hey, high school sucked. So I’m just giddy in preparation for the next one. Don’t make us wait too long! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🏆🏆🏆🏆

    "Home Depot" is NOT a "Local Hardware Store"!!! It is however a big name chain, that shuts down local hardware stores!!! I always shop local stores when possible. I've not even been into a big name chain stare for a good bit now. I don't order much offline either. I always have local stores order me what I need and pay the small mark up to help keep them in business and able to raise their families. Chain stores suck!!! They have no soul. They aren't there to help you, they are only there to make you part with as much of your hard earned money as possible. That's it. Local stores on the other hand have soul. They do (in most cases) care about their customers and communities!!!
