When she said that, that finally made me understand what an influencer is and why they get paid doing it. People who come across them get so jealous of the persons life, that they’ll do anything to become more like them. So they’ll buy the same makeup and whatever to become like them.

Fell in love with Haley in via some random algorithm popup video and subscribed. Didn't realize she's an ultra-famous Sports Illustrated/millionaire model, as well as being insanely funny and brilliantly irreverent. I love her brand of satire. Such a breath of fresh air!
Same here! The algorithm brought me the William the Billionaire boyfriend series and I was hooked on the funny. Only later did I find out about her IRL.

Sometimes I feel watching them is quite toxic for me. Part of the reason why I have deleted my FB or IG. Life is way more peaceful this way.

I'm also in my 30s and I know what you mean. I stopped following beauty influencers (too toxic). Now I follow body positive people, but keep my IG activity to a minimum. I find tutorial vids and parodies to be much healthier.
Bonus: I've learned some great hacks that saved me money.
TLDR - Find non toxic people/things to follow.
This is literally my inner commentary every time I watch an influencer video. Pure gold!

Yeah, there are a few influencers I can think of that started out like this and totally became the very people they got popular poking fun of. I think Hailey seems a bit more mature than that, though.

I realized how much we were being lied to when a top makeup influencer...Jaclyn Hill said in a video she loved a product so much was her holy grail...then a few months later said the opposite of that same product. Liars forget their lies.

People also like a product then change their mind. I loved my Tacoma until I got sick of putting up with the lack of space in the drivers seat so I upgraded to a Tundra. People’s opinions on a product can change, but I feel what you’re saying. There are too many who fake it

It's hysterical, too, when they first start gaining popularity and you see the first time they think they need to show that fake waking up with yawning and stretching thing. And then basically copy everybody else and do the same content showing the same "what I eat in a day" meals, move to LA, show the same new apt remodel that is "all neutrals" and then come the Louis Vuitton hauls and Tulum vacations.
as someone who's dated a few "influencers", honest answer is if influencers were honest, they wouldn't be influencers. they have very ordinary or even sub-ordinary lives, there wouldn't be much worth being influenced by.
Thank you. I sometimes feel alone in how ridiculous I feel these RUclipsrs have gotten. All the comments: “yay girl” “you go girl” “slay girl” … it’s starting to get way past “support” and into “Delusional” … and it’s not like viewers don’t know, they just want to be “liked” (literally on their comments) by the person they are watching live a “different life” that ultimately is just a front or lie. It’s sad how far it’s gone . 🤦🏽♀️

If influencers were actually honest, I’d actually watch their videos more. Her humor is absolutely hilarious!!
My favourite part is when she was shown walking down the street with bulky ring light on a tripod and all the stuff… the amount of dedication! And this is exactly how most vloggers walk around, unless they make enough money to hire an assistant who’ll help with filming and will be the one to carry all those bulky things.
I love her so much for being honest, true, and hilarious all at the same time. Her videos reminds me of staying true to my self and not to compare paths to anyone/anybody.
This should get a billion views but the algorithm won't allow it, because it speaks honestly about one industry that makes them millions while screws with the younger generation sense of reality.
This is perfect. I sometimes look at influencers for some inspiration like when I remodeled my home office, etc. and it got me on this big rant about influencers. This came on the heels of that. I love it!

I have a suggestion for you, something I have always followed.
If you see something (for instance something that an influencer praises) and habe the urge to buy it: Don't (at first at least)
Put it on a list with a date.
Put that list to the side. Come back to that list once a week.
Look at the things that have accumulated over the week and try to honestly ask yourself how many of the thing on there hsd completely left your mind in the course of tthat week. Which still seem enticing after a week.
And if you still want it, THEN buy it.
And if it is more expensive stuff, expand this "waiting" technique over the course of time it takes you to save up for saod product. If you STILL want it after having saved up for it, chances you really want it are great. And you won't accumulate dept over financing something you don't actually have the money for. And if after saving up you DON'T want a thing anylonger, nothing bad come of that, only the fact that you now have saved up some money that you can put away into a saving account or invest (just don't simmediately spend it on something else xD that defeats the point)
Maybe this is helpful. I live by these principals for a long time now and rarely do I regret something that I buy and never have I had to go into dept to buy something :)

Look at the pictures of the party its all a bunch of single lonely girls networking trying to figure out how to grow and make more money. the only men there are the workers and soy boys .
