@@JBugsVWPartshello I already have 50 miles on my new engine but didn’t use break in oil, I used sae 40, is it to late to use the break in oil now? If not can i drive it around for a certain amount if miles since i dont have a gage? Thank you
As long as you used "classic car" oil (any motor oil with a high zinc content) it will be fine. I'd change the oil as soon as possible, and just keep using the same oil, as long as it has zinc @@nikittoo1.
From the distributor to the coil, yes. The coil does have a power wire that goes to the positive side which powers the coil and the ignition module in the distributor.
In all honesty, it was because the only cams we had available when this engine was assembled were the EMPI cams, not the Engle cams. I would have preferred to run a W110 cam, but didn't have the option. So, I went with a stock cam and to get the most performance out of it, and because I wanted to show the process of setting up ratio rockers (as there wasn't a good video that I could find) I went this route.
Wow my initial startup went way smoother than this, super happy I took a ton of time priming and setting up the carbs
Priming the system certainly helps, yes!
Great video you always explain everything so well
Looks and sounds good guys!
Do you still sell the 1800cc kit?
No, the parts for this engine were picked piece by piece. We don't offer them in a kit.
Aircoler for life from 64vw of nj
It’s an addiction!
Loved the description. Is there any idea of the HP of the engine with the mods you did?
Based on previous engines we've run in the past and dyno-ed we're guessing at about 75 hp at the wheels. Stock was roughly 58.
Great job guys it looks great. On a vw don't you want to use oil with zinc at all times?
Yes, we recommend using oil with zinc in all air cooled engines. We use the high zinc during engine break in.
@@JBugsVWParts thank you for your information

Another good video
Thanks
Is it only the negative and positive (red&black) wires from the electric distributor to the coil???
From the distributor to the coil, yes. The coil does have a power wire that goes to the positive side which powers the coil and the ignition module in the distributor.
Nice! Would like to redo my engine this way. Why did you choose to go with high lift rockers instead of a different cam? Just figuring stuff out.

What kind of hp does this engine put out
We're guessing at about 75 horses and 80 foot pounds at the wheels. Not a rocket ship but a good increase over stock.
@@Sam_Mebane not worth it
So how much r u selling this motor for.. I do have a core 1600..
It's being installed in our 1971 Super Beetle. It isn't for sale separately.
Good morning! What size of exhaust installed and part number as well if you could provide information, thank you
We installed the 2 Tip GT exhaust which has 1 3/8” tubing. www.jbugs.com/product/3418.html
What size rocker arm's did you use I'm building the same engine
And what carburetor is that I was thinking about a single 40 IDF
@@charlesmartin7347 we used 1.4:1 ratio rockers.
@@charlesmartin7347 we used the 38EGAS carburetor.
I think i found j-bug in real life..

Is it always necessary to remove the rockers from the heads? I've never heard of anyone doing this before or is it just for high performance motors?
It isn't necessary but it does keep the lifters safe while the engine builds oil pressure before the first start.
No not at all
Please fix my beetle
We're still working on ours!
