The way Caleb said that dialogue from 1:05- 1:19, it sounded like he was reciting a poem or was saying a monologue from Shakespeare's era. Not that I am complaining.
The worst mistake this show ever made was putting Spencer and Caleb together I just found it nauseating and disgusting and honestly I think they were fuck buddies then an actual relationship but throughout that whole thing u could tell that Hanna was still in love with Caleb it was just disgusting and awkward and if Spencer was a good friend she should’ve saw how uncomfortable Hanna was it was clear as day how miserable and unhappy Hanna was and it was like Spencer didn’t care I was so happy when Spencer and Caleb broke up Spencer always belonged with Toby like Hanna always belonged with Caleb I have no idea why Spencer and Caleb were even a thought they had no chemistry together and they were just a horrible couple

so many people hate spencer & caleb together & it's obviously not my ship at all, but there was a wavelength there. something they both rested on. i liked it for when we had it. & also why we had it. it was something that, as adults, they needed in the moment. similar to dan & blair from gossip girl. it's hard, for human beings to realize that they share a connection that isn't automatically romantic. we always explore that aspect first because in the moment it's the only thing we can see. we don't realize that the physical/romantic will fall off. & we were just meant to be friends. we bide our time for the physical to fizzle out first, and once we stop exploring, we realize that we may love this person, but not in the way we thought we needed them. not in the way our bodies thought we wanted them. though they weren't average high school relationships, they were still high school relationships. you can't bank your future on them. not unless they withstand & adapt as you grow. as we saw in the show, none of them did. there isn't really a "girl code" here, not with a. a teenaged relationship & b. the 5+ years that passed in between. hanna pushed caleb away. toby and spencer got pulled in opposite directions. & when they came back, recentered, they weren't the same people. i don't think anyone was wrong or sick or bad or disgusting for the caleb & spencer relationship. they have a connection. a middle ground. something they needed/wanted to figure out & they did. they're both intelligent. driven. they have similar senses of humor, and they exist well together, functioning like a machine. they make sense. on the surface. on paper. headstrong boy, headstrong girl. hardasses. but of course we have our fated end games. constellations that collide & burst like shooting stars & that's the "meant to be" place we find hanna & caleb, & spencer & toby. there's nothing surface about it. everything is rooted. spencer is gentle, & sweet. a caretaker. & that aspect to her shines the absolute brightest when she's with toby. her sharp edges were already showing, she didn't need them accentuated, that's what caleb did. he complimented her, but in the spaces everyone could already see. hanna needs an exhale. she's always fighting something or somebody. never stopping to take a breath. her hyper-independence is her worst enemy. almost always gets her in the most trouble. caleb counteracts that. the trustworthy, levelheaded side of hanna shines the brightest when she's with caleb. i don't think anyone was wrong, i think it's just life. it's messy. still ends up beautiful. god i love psychoanalyzing my favorite shows
