So true,,,,,,,, I wish I had a Go Pro in 1967 , when I surfed Lake Erie in Nov. with only a sweatshirt. This great video brings back fond memories of surfing storms.

Was in Minnesota in 2017 and saw lake superior. Was told that people surf it but I never thought it was on this level 🤙
I learned to surf in 33 degree water. Much respect for these dudes, because cold water surfing is HARD CORE!
I dont even surf and I can hands down say this is incredibly heart pumping and well put together keep it up!

I saw this at the House Of Vans in Chicago. Burton was there and he was unbelievably cool he was really stoked and just so cool. He kept going on and on but it was all good. Anyways Dylan Graves has been personal invited to Lake Michigan by the President of the South End Surf Club.

@@Phillyhomicide im from new jersey and what i like about ben gravy is that he can make a video about surfing close-out, 1 foot waves and it is still fun. All of the dumb terms like "nuking" and "for the dream" is just for humor and shouldnt get under your skin. Surfing isnt all about riding clean overhead barrels and winning competitions. I relate to ben gravy because i am not usually blessed with perfect waves but i still have fun with what i have. What is wrong with that?

this is awesome and the name is crazy haha! back in 2012 I did a photo documentary on Lake Erie Surfers for my Documentary photo class semester project in college and I called it "Strange Waves" so seeing "Weird Waves" season 1: Great Lakes made me smile and took me back. Its one of my favorite photo projects i've done!

I’m actually in exchange year in USA, in Ohio, and there is the Lake Erie, I would like to surf but I can’t..
How can you look to check the waves? Blizzard time! Offshore, even. Barreled on Superior, light up a bomber dude!! That first place- rad rocks, chunks of ice, good waves.

Thanks E Wilkie, great answer. Used to do a bit of diving and went for a couple of surfs in the 5 and 7mm suits. Hard work so lots of respect for that. I guess if the suit seals well that probably helps. Ill check out your channel. Cheers from Oz - close to 40C down here at the moment☺

Having lived near a particularly bad stretch of lake Superior, this is NOT by far the gnarliest storm of the season. That happens when the skies of November turn gloomy and I never saw ice chunks in November.
