Guys I found this movie through tik tok and I watch anything Odessa is in… it’s so good. It’s 4 am and I have work in the morning but I just finished the movie and I literally could not turn it off. I was watching the whole movie like damn the actress who plays the mom is good and then to find out she wrote, directed, and produced?!?! Jennifer Esposito absolutely outdid herself. FOR REAL, watch the movie
This is what Independent Film is all about! FRESH KILLS is the BEST film I have seen on the festival circuit in the last 15 years. A gritty, gut wrenching story about two sisters that are stuck in a life they didn't choose... Their father's mob world. BUT, It's NOT a Mob film. The depth of character these two young actors (Emily Bader & Odessa A'zion) share in their performances, explodes from the script on to the screen, via the expert direction of Esposito. Like all classic Independent Films, FRESH KILLS is intimate and raw, while bursting at the seams with story, content and style. It should be on everyone's must see list for 2024 and beyond!
Saw an early screening of this film and absolutely loved it. This is the kind of movie that made us fall in love with movies. Congrats to all involved. Do yourself a favor and go see it in a theater!
😮 what a tremendous film. Acting was perfect. I’m very proud of Jennifer Esposito!!! I haven’t felt a film like this in years. This is what we’ve been missing!!!
At last the Mafia life from a female perspective. 50 years a little late but at least we finally got there. With these actors we should be on for a treat!
Saw it last night at a NYWIFT screening and was blown away. Fantastic performances. Incredible writing and directing. Just...a stunning film!! What an achievement. ...I'm gonna go see it again when it hits theaters June 14th!
I saw this yesterday with my mother and we both cried. We have an aunt going through something similar. Thank you for this beautiful film. Such a strong message ❤
I watched this last night. Then again this morning. What a great film. A powerful, slow burn and fresh take on Mafia life from the females perspective. Bravo! 👏👏👏
Wonderful, favorite Jennifer. Her acting has always been spot on. She was great on Blue Bloods when I watched years ago and many other shows and films and I hope this makes money back for her, I'm sure it will be a success, the reviews on it have been great; but I can't watch films anymore with yelling, verbal or physical abuse and dysfunction in them. Real life is difficult enough without me watching a movie that's mentally and emotionally depressing. I'm trying to have a healthy brain at this time in my life; not watching or being around anything negative anymore that's going to make me feel bad, sad or upset. With Jennifer's talent, am hoping she'll make her next film a topic that's upbeat, fun and positive. Love her.
BRAVO! Extremely well Witten & actors executed roles magnificently. For once we get to see the perspective from family left to pick up all the pieces. The actors put heart and soul into each and every scene. Not overdramitic like some "fairytale" mob movies out there. Nothing short of a realistic first hand experience. 5 stars!
Have been waiting for Jennifer Esposito to show her potential. Can see why she may have not wanted to get locked into a role on a weekly basis"procedurall". She needs to be free to follow her destiny
This movie was really good. It was different than your usually mob movie and focused more on the family than the actual mobsters. It was a breath of fresh air and unique. Great acting.
A film is considered a piece of art when it reveals something about ourselves we may not have known or noticed, when it has a message of hope or a warning, when it beautifully uncovers some bit of truth, romantic cinematography or poetic dialogue. When it’s violent, depressing and negative for the sake of being vile it’s considered trauma-porn because it has its own way of abusing us for abuse’s sake. This movie would be categorized as the latter. As much as I had high hopes and wanted to like it, there was nothing I could say was ‘entertaining’ about it. It had some of my favourite actresses and they were beautiful in it but otherwise I should have skipped it. 👎🏽
Best movie trilogy is the Godfather, the greatest tv show of all time is the Sopranos obviously and the BEST MOVIE OF ALL time goes to FRESH fucking KILLS obviously!!!!
@sylviakoehler5135 I tried really to watch it but kept falling asleep. Twice. Just came from the theater and saw Maxxxine. Great cast, 80's nostalgia with real hits from the 80's. Ty West pulled out all the strings for this one. If you want to see a good movie that will keep your attention, it's highly recommended.
@sylviakoehler5135 I got off track here. Thought this was a horror film. Jennifer Esposito was great in "The Summer of Sam," but that's all I remember her from. Ruby the .....! "Why pay for the cow when everyone else is getting their milk and steaks for free?" Spike Lee, an African American, did that film, and I personally think he captures the Italian American lifestyle in S.O.S. and even earlier in "Do The Right Thing." The greatest Esposito of all time is Giancarlo 💯
Hardly. IDK what version of Lifetime you watch - if you even do. Your comment drips of misogyny. Any film or show not centered on males is so threatening and triggering for some males.
Omg Rose is such a weakling and was frustrating and exhausted me throughout this movie. I like Esposito naturally and the sister. I felt like they could have done more with her. It started out kind of good then I was just wanting to watch something else.
Rose was not a weakling. You didn't understand her character. She was observant, intelligent, thoughtful, non-confrontational. Her sister Connie accepted who her father was - a violent criminal - and embraced it. Rose was not able to. That didn't make her weak. She was conflicted - torn between her love for her father and the realization of his criminal behavior that both benefited their family and endangered them. This is not a superficial story. Look beneath the surface. That's what makes this film and the writing so powerful.
AND - Rose was ultimately the strongest one for having the courage to call her father out and then take her niece and leave. Watch it again. Fiery characters like Connie are interesting and fun to watch. The sisters were interesting and realistic opposite sides of the same coin - just with different ways of coping with a F'd up situation. The story would have been boring if Rose was as feisty as Connie.
Yet another movie about people being shitty and the worst parts of humanity. I can't wait until we get over this as a society and start telling positive and uplifting stories again.
Not at all. It's a story about the perspective of the females in a Mafia family, a perspective never properly portrayed until this movie. I grew up & was friends with kids from notorious Mafia families, mainly females. We never talked about the Mafia, of course. As an adult I have wondered what that life was like for them. It's not a happy story, true. It's realistic. Without giving anything away I will say that it ends on a positive, empowering note, which you would know if you had bothered to watch it vs instead rush to post a critical comment.
You ain’t kidding. It was so draining and sad. I was excited to see Esposito do her thing and in many ways she did but God this was depressing. I didn’t walk away feeling inspired or touched, just depressed and worse than I did before I put it on. A snuff film might have been more enjoyable.
Not at all, which you would know if you bothered to watch the movie. The female perspective isn't interesting to misogynists, though. Got it. Thankfully for you most movies are a sausage fest! lol
@@sitori2509 I'm 54. I've seen that same plot over & over. Why would I watch it if I already know what the ending going to be? You must be young & enjoy c-list movies remaking old stuff.

Uuuuugh I'm SO excited to see this!! Hurry up the 14th!
The performances that Jennifer helped pull out from these 2 women is amazing. It was so raw and emotional. I loved it.
Absolutely just seen it. What an amazing project. I can’t wait to see more from Jennifer Esposito!!

Emily Bader was excellent, too. The entire cast was phenomenal. Check out "My Lady Jane" which stars Emily Bader.
One of the best movies this year hands down.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a masterpiece
I see jennifer Esposito and Odessa. Yep I'm going to go see it

89% on Rotten Tomatoes
This movie reminds me of something you would see on Lifetime.
I don't think so

WOW!
It’s more of a drama than a thriller huh
Reminds me a bit of Victoria Gotti’s story
This made Scorcese look like a amateur
lmao how much does she pay you to say those things?
Yet another movie about people being shitty and the worst parts of humanity. I can't wait until we get over this as a society and start telling positive and uplifting stories again.
just go watch a different movie lmao
@@zawarudo6530 yeah, that was the point.

Garbage
I'll take "What your opinion is worth" for $200, Alex.
This looks fantastic. And I’m so proud of Jennifer Esposito for doing it. 🫶
