I'm growing Lemon Balm, Peppermint, Spearmint and Sweet Mint in containers in my yard. I'll use some of the Lemon Balm and combine it with one of the others - super good! I just cut the leaves up and put them in my coffee press and let them seep for about 15/20 minutes. I didn't know the mints were super foods - THANK YOU for sharing that! I'm going to dry them so I'll also have them available in the winter months.
Thanks so much Mrs. Robbie I make mint tea from my garden and now I will use your valuable information to make tea in the winter. Your the best at sharing your knowledge.
I love using the fold over sandwich bags... for anything that i want individual portions, chicken pieces, garlic knot rolls, sausages, puree'd fruit in cubes... anything i just want to be able to pull out the amount i need... so they are not fused together in a block. I package them in a zip lock bag too. I will start freezing my mint and lemon balm and verbena now, like my basil not that i know it freezes well. Thank You for your great tips and spontaneous epiphanies!
I would also add the the year to the date. Thanks for the suggestion of stevia leaves in the tea. I am going to grow some next year for that very purpose.
Thank you for this video. I learn nothing without actually watching how something is done. I talk about you all the time. I was talking to a young pre-med students about blueberries and how you pick green pine needled for acidic soil. I can't wait to try it.
Thanks Robbie for all your usual tips over this summer you have converted me to compost in place in tubs and I've had some brilliant results and also the mint drinks are great I'll now be drinking it over the winter months hi from north Wales uk
You are so sweet. I'm just starting out my fruit and veggie growing. We bought our first home last year so I'm finally getting to grow more and more. I really enjoy watching your videos because they are so genuine not staged!! Who on earth would think that hahaha
Yes, Robbie, we put bags in larger bags with tags & dates. That's how we "file" our food in our freezer. Thanks again for all of your fabulous ideas! 😁👍
I love my ginger mint and find that it's great with the chocolate or the lemon mint. I also make chocobanana icecream or frappe using the tea (or coffee), frozen bananas and chocolate mint. I'm going to start freezing my mint too. Thanks for making this video.... I'm going to try your method for sure.
Hi there. I've just ordered stevia, lemon verbena, chocolate mint and spearmint plants to have a go at it. The only slight problem I will have is the stevia may need to stay indoors wintertime in UK. Can't wait to try it next year :)
Maybe the stevia will have to go indoor during the Winter, it does die back here in the cold months, can always try some up against a warm building wall or brick wall, if you have that to see if some will survive there? thanks, Robbie
luckychicav I appreciate the tip Robbie, this summer is the first I ever grew spearmint and mint. I'm going to freeze some before it stops producing. I'm still looking for the stevia. Thank you!! ;)
Perfect timing ... I'm picking some of the mint I planted a few months ago and was wondering how to save it. Love the chocolate mint you suggested. Tasty!
How does Stevia do over the winter? Does it die back? I've been enjoying your way of blender made mint tea this summer. Over the years I always have grabbed a few fresh leaves of various plants to make hot brewed tea. I grab a few bits of rosemary, pineapple sage, mint, marjoram, oregano, lemon verbena. . . (whatever, I vary it each time) and then put the fresh leaves in hot water for a few minutes. It makes a lovely hot tea too. Rosemary, Pineapple Sage, Marjoram, and a bit of mint usually over winter fresh up here in N. CA. The mint does go semi-dormant, but as you said, there are usually some leaves fresh. So my winter tea has several other fresh herbs in it - the ones that over winter.
Your tea sounds great, I add in Moringa leaves too for added vitamins, but I have not added in those other herbs YET. My Stevia dies back like the different mints, some completely , and some still had a few leaves. As soon as I see them dying back, I will be making up little frozen tea packets like crazy. Thanks, Robbie
I put boneless chicken breasts in small bags. Quick freeze and then pack small bags in larger freezer bag. Helps prevent freezer burn and keeps the chicken in one bag. Also do this with cherry tomatoes 🍅😁
While I was listening to you, my attention was drawn to the birds in the background? Hummingbirds? And what is it they are drinking? Water or some other concoction. Mint tea? 😉
Hi Robbie, If I put poles and plastic around a pot of mint over the cold months, would it be like a mini greenhouse to keep leaves on it? Have you ever tried something like that?
Funny, I usually only do the leaves (and stems) and once in a while the flowers....the flowers are fine to use, not sure why I do not????? I seem to cut them off, for no good reason...habit, just because; I need to look into the flowers, thanks, Robbie

Thank you, I'm starting to collect diferent mint plants.
Chocolate is great, and Peppermint and spearmint...those seem to be the best to make the tea from, SO GOOD, thanks, Robbie
Where did you get your stevia plants?
Hi Robbie, If I put poles and plastic around a pot of mint over the cold months, would it be like a mini greenhouse to keep leaves on it? Have you ever tried something like that?
❤️❤️❤️
❤
Do you use the mint flowers?
Funny, I usually only do the leaves (and stems) and once in a while the flowers....the flowers are fine to use, not sure why I do not????? I seem to cut them off, for no good reason...habit, just because; I need to look into the flowers, thanks, Robbie
If you are drying so completely, why is freezing necessary?!?!
where do you get stevia from?
It's a plant, you can buy it processed in the grocery stores in the sugar aisle.
@@progressforward
Pretty sure she's wanting the PLANT so she can grow it like Robbie does.
Frozen leaves turn to slimy texture. Why not show the complete process, because it doesn't work well?? Are you drying to almost fully dry???
If you are drying so completely, why freezing necessary?!!!
Watching the video very informative. How about Cinna- mint remember.. Dentyne Gum Im thinking that's an idea?
Great suggestion! I do remember Dentyne Gum!
how dare you abuse the overhead shot ... you need rehab 😆
