These are great, Ive tied a few up now. I could only get claret and olive micro chenille but I did some claret ones as per your video then some claret ones with a mirage tag and polar pearl lite brite. Then some olive ones with a uni-mylar peacock tag and a light olive hends microflash dubbing. I did half with breatherz and half with out and they all look great. Looking forward to trying these on my local water :).

Awesome pattern as always Davie, Only problem I have is I cant keep up with all the flies you've demonstrated that I'd like to try tying. Keep up the great work

This is the tinniest wee body I think I have seen you tie. It looks like it would work a treat. Now I have to get "Microchenille!" does it ever end?? So many materials, so little time. All the best to you, Sean

    Davie,
Long time watcher of your videos first time commenting. Fantastic tying as usual. I can't stress how helpful and insightful your videos are. Not only do you tie effective patterns but you have taught me numerous techniques that I have been able to apply to several different style of flies and by doing so I am becoming much better at fly tying. My question for you is that I noticed a different vice in this video and wanted to know what vice it was and why you weren't using your famed Law vice? I was fortunate enough to finally get a law vice about a year ago and haven't thought of tying on anything else since then. I was curious since it seems like you have tied on a Law exclusively throughout all your youtube videos.
    Respectfully,
    Vincent

Pour imiter les montages des modèles de Davie Mc Phail est de trouver le materiel semblable à utiliser et malheureusement nous n'obtenons aucune réponse. Exemple cette mini chenille

      Hi Armando Milosevic,
I'm glad you liked the fly...
I have attached a link to the body material, it's sold by a wholesale company called Veniards so if you know of a shop that stocks their materials I'm sure they wll be able to get it for you...

Hi Davie, I love this wee fly, if I am tying various colours for the detached body, will I keep the thorax (wing n flash) the same colour of Red - or are there options. Many thanks for all your videos absolutely brilliant.
    Ali.

      Hi Ali,
The red does work really well but I would happily change the colour to suit the body or highlight with a bright colour or flash..I'm glad you enjoyed the video...

Davie, terrific fly. I found the micro chenille in a close out bin and bought what was left. I have been tying the extended body midge for some time now though not nearly as nice as the tie in this video.
How do you like to fish this?
Thanks for all your videos they have helped me become a better tyer.

      Hi Michael,
I've found this fly to fish well on a cast with other flies on the top or middle dropper although I have caught with it on it's own targeting fish rising close to the surface when fishing from the bank on the small fisheries....I'm glad you are enjoying tying these flies but you should also tye some shuttlecock style as they make great emerger patterns...
      All the very best Davie

    Hi Davie!
It is a great pattern... I am just wondering how you fish with this pattern: is it for lake or river and do you fish with it like with a nymph or like with a wet fly or finally more like emerger? Thank you and continue to inspire us!

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  6 лет назад

      Hi laulbad,
It's normally fished in the lochs/lakes rather than on the river, it can be fished anywhere on the cast depending on the depth the fish are feeding in..I like to fish it below a dry fly targeting feeding fish and allowing it to sink slowly and then with an odd twitch inducing a take...I'm glad you liked the fly...
      All the very best Davie....

      Hi Mike,
I'm glad you enjoyed the video...
I get asked all the time what vise I use and I'm sure when I mention that it's no longer available people are disappointed so I felt that I should use a vise that can be bought rather than one that can't..

I hope you get along with the new vise. If you don't and need to switch back to the LAW it will be fine with me... =]
