I loved this and quickly noticed the car was long gone. Any time yall want to run the old clips. This clip had a lot of things people need to think about. I understand the affect to all drivers, and in some states the laws are gettin tougher.
If you had been watching the videos, a couple videos ago he had talked about driving the Blue nomad and a motorcycle did a u-turn in front of him from the shoulder. And he was talking about how the brakes and other mechanical linkage need to function properly. This is likely why he is bringing this up again.
Dan mentioned being out of town, due to his real job, for a couple days. He must likely reupped this to give us something to watch and possibly learn from.
Thanks for Re-upping that Video... I'm personally Sick and Tired of Paying "Stupid Tax"... I took my Sons Sportster for a scoot last week. I pull up to a Stop Sign, and here comes 3 Idiots (1 car and 2 Superbikes) doing easily 2 plus times the speed limit, on Main Street (people, kids dog walkers everywhere) as they go whipping by, the one idiot on a Superbike, makes a gesture (the look at me, I'm so cool; not the I forgot to wave with all my fingers gesture) and Pops a Wheelie for damn near the entire length of the block... IDIOT... Someone is going to Die, and you can be sure, that it won't be that IDIOT, it will be some innocent people, that happened to be in the wrong place at the right time... STOP BEING THAT IDIOT, PEOPLE... Thanks Again Guys, for putting this video back up... ❤❤❤
thanks for sharing common sense . there is a wildly popular channel originating from Tennessee involving two brothers that invariably drive their builds recklessly at high speeds on public streets ... often in an urban environment . i've called them on it , but i'm sure they've never read my comment due to the volume of admiring traffic they get . i thoroughly enjoy every one of your builds and appreciate your concerns for building a properly prepared vehicle . we would be proud and love to have you move to the US ... yeah , family , jobs , friends , etc makes that difficult , but want you to know that you're welcome here anytime
think!!! this could have been prevented,1 just fix the problems before venturing out on public roads.2 simply slip the transmission in netral dumb. its an old video. thanks Dan right on point.
I had to do a double take, then i realized it's just Miss Dani posting a DD Speed Shop rerun video on her channel, at first I thought y'all bought the Biscayne back from Lucky Jack Racing, love y'all video...
I'm building a Comet myself right now. Not building mine with an automatic, that video certainly helped cement that choice. Also not building it for stupid horsepower. Stock LS, 350hp and I'll be happy. Not some ludicrous 1400hp. That engine assembly probably weighed more than the Comet itself does. Good old saying, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.
I don’t think the throttle stuck. Blower motors with a big hat like that like to idle high. It’s obviously a show car, meaning it’s not supposed to be driven. They just bought a bunch of parts that like cool and put it on a car. If it was supposed to be a driven car they probably would’ve put the right parts on the car.
Dan, I suggested a couple of years ago to quit using the old solid linkage throttle assembly because one motor mount failure on the torque side of our engine will cause the throttle to open and that's when shit happens - use the newer style cable type - I know these things as I was loading my 55 Bel-Aire and my new side mount motor mount broke apart and up that trailer ramp I flew - Not something I want you to experience.
it was not a brake problem . it was driver problem. just shut it off and coast to the side of the road. the driver should have his license taken away before he kills someone.
You are so correct Dan. Brakes are one thing you HAVE to have. Doesn't matter if you make 5 hp, or 6000 hp. When you need to stop. You need to stop. I've been selling parts for over 4 decades now and I've seen it all. I think? lol Keep the great content coming Dan and Danni!
Years ago I put a carburetor on a neighbors 53 ford f100 and had it running and tuned but told him do not take the truck anywhere as there is no carb return spring, the next day I wasn't home so him and my brother took the truck out on the road and the throttle stuck so he turned the key off but turned the key to lock as it had a newer Ford steering column in it and put the truck into a electric pole and totaled the truck, I didn't know he wrecked until I came home and my brother said he wrecked it and I thought he was kidding me until I went over to see it and I said to him what did I tell you yesterday not to do and he said don't drive until it has a spring on it!!!!! Lesson learned, next time I have that issue I will take the keys from them until it's fixed!!!!!
I've seen people at the part store order quickie line connects, I had to tell them, they still have to replace the line, it's probably rusted elsewhere too. Should only be temp, till a repair shop replaces the line too.😊 And another time, someone had a very old 1900s car, making a left, somebody smashed to them anyways and killed all four In the vehicle.
Oh and speaking of laws, so many people say if you're gonna k¡ll someone in Canada, do it with a car. Its disgusting how light the sentences are. Like the guy here in Tcona. Disgusting.
Same rules apply to many aspects of life. Especially when it comes to public safety. Trucking seems especially hard hit by stupid rules written only to appease public outcry and insurance companies because somebody got stupid and caused a crash.
Autotopia dude is so cringe. I hope the innocent driver didn't end up with permanent injuries. Speaking of Canada and MB safeties, it still sounds like there are a lot of shops breaking the rules.
Man if you ever seen some of the things people drive around here they call vehicles it would blow your mind! I'm originally from up north where you have inspections. Down here there are so many unsafe cars driving around that it makes you not want to drive nice things. I totally agree with you Dan.
whoooo. Thought there was another one. The key detail was that it had known issues and still went on the street. That's brakes doing what brakes do. I always try and pay my own stupid tax and not involve innocent bystanders.
The vidis a couple years old but it still bothers me too.... dude had so many options.....put it in neutral to start, and put it into the curb or off the road... why the guy tried to keep it on the road and smash into cars is beyond me....
Old video but good sound advice never goes out of style. My little Hotrod needs front end work so tuning and tests drives are around the block until that work is done.

Didn’t watch the video again, went straight to the comments…..not disappointed 😀! Past Dan taking one for the team!
This one is kinda a at that time kinda video. I think any other video would have worked.
How did a 2 year old video show up as new???
I was wondering the same🤔
Going for views, more money more money more money, hahaha

Wait, I've already seen this.....
Good afternoon from Cape Cod ⚓ very well said Dan 👍 don't ever take stupid chances on the road ✌️🇺🇲🇨🇦
I have wondered since I watched that video of the Comet - does it not have an ignition switch or even neutral in the transmission?
Well said and I totally agree. Dan is the PSA man.
If only Mur gave his audience one of these quality FIRE SIDE CHATS👍

Nailed it Dan…
Do not abuse your cars
DD- I would say this about the US...stay out of California, Oregon, Washington, any heavily "Blue" state.
This is an old video but, the truth is simple: the most dangerous thing in any car is the NUT BEHIND THE WHEEL!!!
Hey guys if you're looking for some place to have a vacation house you might look into land prices in West Virginia.

How does bad Chad's cars ever see the road the crappy puts together should be illegal
Everything Chad builds is garbage. I don't know why Dan thinks Chad is all that.
He's got some mad fab talent that's for sure!

Shut the engine down, I agree, some stupidly involved

Why are we reliving this? We all know people are stupid!
You would love the hot rodding and automotive community we have in indiana. Central indiana has so much going on for performance automorive.
Dan, your not in the same cat. as those guys in that video you are talking about.

Great video Dan thanks.
You don't know anything about this accident , so just shut up !
Why didn't he shut it down long before things went to hell in a handbag.
Take your hot rods to the track. have real fun and not get thrown in Jail.
Come on down to the lower 48. We would love to have you guys.
Still don't understand why the guy didn't turn the key off! Still no brakes but at less no acceleration..🤷🏼
We are all still wondering that's for sure
Dan said he had to go away for his FT job for a few days. This is filler and he is entitled to some time !!
Exactly! I commented the same thing. Tough crowd here..😂
Ha ha we are trying out some DDSS quickies! There's gonna be a lot of old videos shortened up coming soon!
The idle was set to high from what I remember
When is DD Speed Shop going to the strip?
It never hurts to remind everyone to use a little common sense when using/building these hotrods. Thanks Dan.

What I couldn't wrap my head around is how the guy could spend all that money on that car and still be riding the old drum brakes.
Gotta spend thr money on thr right places.
