- Rajiv just bought a Kia Sportage with factory matte finish paint, but he doesn't know a whole lot about matte finish care and how to keep the paint looking as good as possible for as long as possible. When he approached our detailing shop for help, our Director of Success Chris Racana offered to show him the ropes himself for a new RUclips video. A tip for Rajiv, to pre-wet your MF towel dry the glass surfaces first with the dry towel. Then is lightly damp and ready for the roof and rest of vehicle. Always dry top down and leave the final lower edges for the last. Use the dirty towel if need to wipe those door jams as well.

How do you fix a chip in the paint of a matte car ? Can you use a matte touchup paint ?
I find it interesting that this video demonstrates drying the vehicle with a cloth first, and then using the drying product.
I have watched another Dr. Beasley’s video on proper technique for caring for a matte finish vehicle. In that video, it clearly showed using the drying product on a wet vehicle.
Which is the correct procedure?

Good catch on the model, mixed it up with an EV6 we had in the shop awhile back! To answer your question about Matte Paint Hero - yes, you would generally speaking use that in tandem with your normal drying process, whether it's towels, blowers or a combination. Chris used Matte Paint Hero on a mostly dry panel here because he was improvising and didn't think to demo the product until after the drying was already complete.
Do I need to get my new Matte car PPF wrapped. Or do you think it’s better to maintain the vehicle for awhile and PPf wrap it after a few years? Or maybe no PPF at all?
What’s your budget? What’s are your goals and pain points? The answer is “depends” for Rajiv the ideal solution was a self healing pro matte coating. Most common service is the PPF the front clip and ceramic coat the matte paint and matte PPF. Others will go the full nine yards and spend top shelf cash to cover the entire car in PPF. Just remember…. Eventually, the PPF will have to be pulled off. A ceramic coating simply just wears off over time/use.

If I use the matte paint cleanser, do I have to reapply the matte paint coating or should I wash it after?
Yes, we recommend re-applying Matte Paint Coating over the area the Cleanser was used.
I stay in oregon and have the same exact car shown in the video. Can you tell me your top 3 products that I should have for a self care wash as I don’t want to get overwhelmed by buying all of it and do you know anyone from portland or nearby who does good ceramic coating ??
