I made Brunswick stew today for the first time and was so glad I found your video. It was wonderful spending the time with you in your kitchen. You made my day and I had a great success on my Brunswick stew. Thank you and may God bless.
MY Ga husband misses his Brunswick stew. I worked at the college there in Brunswick, Ga we now live in Guatemala but miss Southern cooking...I am Texan which has a mix of southern..my grandma was from Marietta....and Mexican foods. I make both but here is nothing like the Soul food made by women like YOU....my husband misses ya'll...we appreciate and miss ya'll blessings from Guatemala... even DEEPER south than Ga! AND we thought no place was deeper south than Ga!
Have used this recipe for 3 years and the results have always been amazing. Adding pork to the recipe is new to me as I live in Eastern North Carolina and it really adds to flavor nicely.
Thank you for sharing! I'm working on Brunswick Stew and that was awesome technique to use the broth from the Pork butt and chicken-that inspired me! Thank you so much!
Good video! I'm from Eastern NC we also use shredded Boston butt and chicken for the meat in our stew but we do add equal amounts of butterbeans, regular sweet (not cream style) corn, and okra to our Brunswick stew Like that you use Texas Pete just as we do - an NC-developed vinegar sauce.
Huh? I live in Eastern NC. It's traditionally done in NC with leftover pork from a butt or a pig picking. I always save a lb of meat after smoking a butt just to make brunswick stew. Search any NC recipe and you will see Bbq listed as an ingredient. You mean you never had Brunswick stew from Smithfield Bbq? Since it's chopped you might not realize it's in the stew and only see the larger peices of chicken.
As I stated and you did too, I use a smoked butt to make BBQ and Brunswick stew, and just like you stated I use chicken with the butt for the stew. Also, I visit the local Smithfields for Q and stew whenever I'm back in Eastern NC, which is now only once per yr. Don't understand your "Huh" comment along with your "You mean you never had Brunswick stew from Smithfields?" I never mentioned Smithfields in my original post. By the way, Parkers in Wilson has better Q than Smithfields, but that is just my and my family's opinion. Also, my family likes the Skyline Inn in Ayden NC. Done explaining stuff to you.
@@thomaswoody9073 That comment wasn't addressed to you. I think the tag might have been accidentally erased. I was responding to the person who said they were from eastern NC and never had or thought about putting pork in their Brunswick stew before. That was extremely confusing to me.
@@georgiacookingforthesoul Yes, it was very good. I prepared mine the same as yours. I grounded it fine and added BBQ sauce as well. I freeze it and it will last me all year. I even have the same pot you have in red. Blessings!
I'm from Virginia and we also claim Brunswick stew. This recipe looks good but I still prefer the version I grew up eating. The Virginia version uses less processed ingredients like ketchup, hot sauce and even barbeque sauce that I have seen in other versions from Georgia. Chicken features in our version as well but so can pork, beef or even game meats like squirrel and venison. Butter beans and corn are a main feature along with potatoes, onion, tomatoes and sometimes carrot. If you like hot sauce you add it to taste at the table. It never goes into the pot.
My Parents passed away last year. I couldn't find there recipe either. I think they used everything in this video except potatoes. Also they put everything in a meat grinder so i got one and i am gonna make some this weekend Thanks for the video
Looks delicious. When I make it, I usually use frozen corn vs canned corn but I think I will used the canned corn next time because it seems like that frozen vegetables add water to the stew and dilute the taste.
Hello! Thank you for sharing this recipe. My dad from Troy Alabama a d he was telling me his grandma use to make Camp Stew at her cafe and it was always a big hit. Is Burnswick stew the same as Camp Stew? Thank you!
That is some down home cooking 🍳 goodness. Lol no way restaurants give you that much meat. I use chicken thighs (skin on - for flavor) and only a small Boston butt pork roast, I also add lime beans & carrots 🥕 😋. This lady can cook !!! Btw I remove the chicken skin from finally broth.
I love the way you cook, reminds me of my grandmother, old school.
Thank You! All my recipes are my Mommas.

@@georgiacookingforthesoul lol pure amateur 😆 but thank you
I thought I was the only one to add a little sugar
The sugar balance everything together.
Oh wee. Need fried sheepshead and water cornbread to go with this.
Looks more like Brunswick soup , needs to be thicker
You thickens yours, mine is exactly the way I want it. Watch the video.
@@georgiacookingforthesoul okay lol
Everything is there except the fresh lemon juice
I don't use lemon juice in mind never heard of it in Brunswick Stew.
